I had the surgery three weeks later (3-1-12).

For me the worst was the bloating! I didn't go to the bathroom for four days but figured I wasn't eatin so why would I, meanwhile I got more and more nausea as the bloating got worse. I finally called my dr on day four and he suggested milk of magnesia and gas x. Can't say the gas x did much but by the end of the day the mail of magnesia made me feel human again! I'm six days out now and I am feeling better but I was surprised the pain latest this long. Last night I searched for "lap band procedure" on utube and they had a ten minute unedited video of the procedure. Ouch, no wonder I am in such pain and that's besides the hiatle hernia repair!! So far I have had no appetite at all and yes walking around really does help. Sorry long winded but when I was researching several of the nurses and staff had had the surgery and they were like "oh, it's so simple" and bragged about how they were out of work from thurs sun and returned on Monday. No one said "dude, it hurts like hell but it's worth it" so I guess that's what I'm saying. Finding this app and all the support of "fellow banders" has been a life saver literally and I feel so glad to have made this decision!

Day 1 Surgery And Wondering What I've Done To Myself
mandagay replied to Ann_Marie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was on the first and I feel pretty Dan good compared to the rest of the days hehe. Is it normal for the bruised part of my belly where the port is to be stinging. I expected pulling and I suppose stinging is normal too just trying to get off these pain meds but not with this comfort level! -
Thank u so much Ilene! Bread will be hard to give up but sweets, no biggie. Can't wait to be skinny hehe

Day 6 post op and must say I'm feeling pretty good! -
Have u tried milk of magnesia?

I was 3-1-12 as well and the chest pain is terrible. Today I just started getting the really bad pain in my right rib cage, maybe I just didn't notice before because of the worst nausea from not having had a bowel movement until yesterday. It's tough but I'm glad I did it!

Ok so my story. I was banded on the first. Arrived at 6:00 am. Lots of paperwork and a pee test. After about an hour they took me and my fiancé to a room where I got into a gown and had another EKG. Had to wait about another hour then was taken to pre-op where they did my iv. After another half an hour the doc came and asked if I was still positive about the surgery then the anesthesiologist gave me a "cocktail" to relax which gave me the shakes something fierce! They took me to the OR and I got on the table and they put the oxygen mask on me. In my drugged state I thought it was the anesthesia and started freaking out that I wasn't going to sleep and talked myself into thinking I was gonnabe able to feel everything. My anesthesiologist said he couldn't put me under until my bp came down I realized I was being a dope and immediately heard him say, "there we go". Next thing I was waking up and sooooo thirsty! They gave mea couple of sips of water, helped me dress, wheeled me to my car and I came home. I slept a lot the first couple of days but after I was good except for the aweful bloating and gas which is much better now after milk of magnesium and gas-x. Walking feels good and really helps with the bloating but I still take the gas-x

How Many Incisions Are Made For The Lap-Band Surgery???
mandagay replied to mufasas-mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are four incisions, none of which are done thru the belly button. They are pretty small with the largest being just over an inch I'd say -
Thanks! Honestly, the bloating was so bad I haven't even thought of food! I am sipping water and my fiance made me a sunny side up egg and then smashed it up and I ate that Yesterday Satisfied me all day! Other than that I just haven't had an appetite!

Finally Made Itto The Post Op Forum!
mandagay replied to newme2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 5 things started feeling better for me. I am on day six now. Something important for me was milk of magnesia. I didn't think about the fact that I didn't have a BM for three days. The gas and bloating was excruciating! The magnesium and gas ex helped tremendously! -
