  1. I wrote the TLBC support site for TLBC bandsters and wrote a question about the problems my doctor was having giving me a fill. My question was read and put to Dr. Yau and he said he would fix the problem. So I am on my way tomorrow.
  2. Hi Buffie. Good luck on the 13th. Sorry I will miss you by a few days. I will have my port fixed on the 5th. I would have like to have met you.

    Clinic Support Sites

Daryl is excellent in reponding to questions. And the other day I called to confirm my corrective surgery and received a call back quickly. There is no questions, there are some communication problems in some areas. Appears return calls/messages are selective according to the eimployee.

I would suggest buying a pillcutter that crushes the pills. the crushed pill will go thru the pouch directly to the stomach protecting the pouch from becoming irritated. The other thing to check on is which pills can be cut or crushed. Go to the pharmacist and ask them if there is an alternatre liquid or chewable pill. I was told when I had my surgery not to swallow pills whole for at least six weeks because the doctor did not want the medication to be sitting in the pouch for any length of time.

Support in North Van next weeek !!!

Hi: This site seems to be very popular with Lower Mainland bandsters or potential bandsters. I have just been contacted by a lady that lives in Langly. Canadagirl your little group seems to be growing.

    Anyone on here from Saskatchewan?

Born and raised in Yorkton, Sask. but now live in BC. Been banded 1 years plus. Love the band and know I could not live without it.

    Argon's Activities

Mandi I send my sympathy and support. We all grieve differently. Some laugh at funerals, some cry, some show little or no emotion. Grieving is very personal and you shouldn't feel guilty.

Lap Band Surgery in Vancouver Area?

Hi: I at our meeting last night we had another lady that is going to go today for a consult with Dr. Woodhead and she indicated the wait is not to long. We have another lady who comes down from Pemberton so if you can make it once it awhile it would be nice. But, if you would like to correspond with me for support I would love to do that. I am corresponding by e mail with a lady in Texas and another in Halifax. Feel free to contact me any time. I will send you a private message with my personal e mail.
  12. Thanks Kate. Support does not mean condoning mistakes, support is telling a person like it is. To make them face the problem. How many times I and others have gone to a weight loss program, weighed in and laughing gone for a hamburger after. How many of us kept the weight off. Laughing to me is an indication of embarassment knowing eating the food was not a good thing. I apologized for offending in the way I stated my comments, I do not apologizing for trying to encourage by not condoning poor eating habits.

Lap Band Surgery in Vancouver Area?

There is a Dr. R. Woodhead in Delta that does lapband surger. I go to him for my fills. There is also a Dr. Leung that does band surgery as well.
  14. Hi: I apologize if I offended you. That was not my intent. My intent was to stress how serious the decision is to have the band and to make light of breaching the diet, to me, was an indication of laughing off an eating problem. I know many have the "last meal" and many break it, that happens and I fully understand as you can see I was not 303 lbs for nothing. However, I also know that fat people tend to make light of themselves before others do it for them. Brushing off with laughter what they know is a problem. Again sorry to offend.
  15. cariflower: The pre op diet is there for a reason, a very serious reason as I am sure you are aware. I hope your lapse is temporary and you are back on track. So often, when we (obese) people make mistakes, we become the 'jolly fat' guy use laughter to cover up our true feelings. You failed, fine, get back on track but please don't laugh at yourself. We are here to support you and know how difficult the pre op and post op diets are. You can do it, we know you can. Doddie

    Is plastic surgery inevitable?

Thanks Angie but I won't hold my breath as I am 64 now and if I reach goal in one to two years, I don't think I will have much elastic left LOL. Not much now.

    Is plastic surgery inevitable?

Does anyone know when it is a good time to have PS. I am half way to goal and my arms are flapping around like sails on a sailing ship and my pannus is hanging so far down that I have to lift it to sit properly. Gross I know, but a reality. anyone have any ideas.
  18. Great idea Love. But your link may become lost if it is not daily updated. As for me, my story is old news and any problems i have had I have moved on as the overall experience has been terrific beyond all words. Good luck on the banding journe.
  19. Uhhhhhh! Susie - is it Canadian to criticize a hosts menu? or politics? As my brother always said when he wintered in Phoenix, "I am American too. All individuals living in North America are Americans". He always received a shocked look then laughter. And also, are our politics any less messy. LOL

    TLBC Bandsters!

Hippiemamma. Great, going to TLBC on June 4,5,6 to have my port turned to make easier access for my doctor out here. How are you doing. You don't have a ticker are you going to get one?

    I am so happy!

Well done. I am very excited for you. I guess you pointed out a lesson to us all. Don't get upset about other victories just your own. We all take off weight differently. Again good going.

    Slow Losers Unite!

Bluebike: You probably are too tight. If you can't get more than 4 oz down, and you are resorting to high caloric foods such as ice cream and sugar type thing then you need a defill. I will say what everyone will say, the band is just a tool and you can use it properly or abuse it. If you continue to sabatogue the band, you will not loose weight. I do not exercise regularly and I know someone who can't exercise at all yet we continue to loose slowly. Some plateaus yes but the overall march to goal continues. You must go back to square one. Get a slight defill, use a small plate, measure and weigh your food. The total consumption must not be more than 1 cup of food per meal consisting of 2-3 oz. of pure HARD protein (something you have to chew to death) and 4 -6 oz of veggies and fruit. Eat pure HARD protein every four waking hours and include some fibre. Record your food intake on Fitday (suggestion only) and be honest as to what you are recording. If you go back to pure basics and stick to them you should loose weight. Because of my poor chewing habits, I keep a 5.5 fill in a 10 cc band. I can eat everything but never more than a cup. Give it a try and keep posting so we can encourage you.
