Hope your grandmas is OK. Family is far more important than attending meetings. I enjoyed Vicki very much. Looking forward to next month.

Re: Lap Band Surgery in Vancouver Area? Support meeting went well. We had a guest dietician attend and she gave us some very valuable information and one new member. We tried a new format for the support group. Each person gave their name and gave an issue that they would like some help on. Everyone was involved and personally I thoroughly enjoyed the meeting. It would be great if some of the bandsters that have not attended in awhile or are contemplating the band could be at our next support group. The more the merrier. The meeting is free. Contact Canadagirl33@hotmail.com or myself if there is any information we can help with. __________________

Congratulations Yasmina. What are you going to do to get the 20 remaining lbs off? -
Hi Rhonda. What type of pre op are you planning. Presently, I go to "Popeyes" and get the vanilla Iso Pro. By using Vanilla, I can add my own flavors. Tastes Ok as well.

18 WOW, well done Marivan. I remember you earlier post of setting the goal of "being comfortable on the airplane" when you went to Scotland. You will be very comfortable and should be very proud when you meet everyone at the wedding. What a trememdous achievement. Doddie

You might want to search the internet for a fill centre just over the border in a City closer than NYC. I live in Vancouver and there is a fill centre in Washington state just a few hours away. Might be the same in the east.

No question about it. You will succeed. See you next month.

Meeting went well tonight at Lions Gate Hospital. One new member scheduled for surgery attended and hopefully we were of some help. Although only 9 of us, we had a lively evening and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I did mention having a bit more structure to future meetings. My reasoning being the group seemed to break down into little groups to the exclusion of a few members. I suggested we start a roll call and let everyone have a bit to say. It was agreed this would be good. Hopefully this would ensure no one would be excluded. Hope to see everyone next month. Anyone new contemplating the band, or just had the band, please feel free to join us.

my problem is telling the difference between head hunger and real hunger. I have learned over the past few years that tracking is my personal way of keeping myself on the straight and narrow. The band keeps me feeling full, no doubt about it, but when I am alone I start to graze. It is amazing the choices I make when I graze, not good one that is for sure. However, the band has kept me on the loosing side now at roughly .25 lbs per week. It all adds up. Welcome to the board, and congratulations on your success. -
Firstly, congratulations......40 lbs less than what you were before surgery. Think of it, you may have been 40 lbs heavier if not for the band. If the scale has not moved but you have lost inches I so envy you. You are putting on muscle that will burn calories even faster. If you do not exercise, then try tracking your food for awhile. You may be surprised how extra calories creep in. For me I track every day so I find it no surprise when I havent lost at the end of the week (which is my weigh in day). I rarely get depressed anymore because I have control of not only what I eat but knowing the reasons why I stayed the same or lost.
-
Really well said. My feelings exactly. I need to change my well ingrained habits of gulping quantities of food to eating modestly (which I am now doing thanks to the band). I slip up sometimes but I keep reminding myself that I am making lifestyle choices and changing a lifetime of habits. I never thought it would be easy and to me it is not but I am loving every minute of my journey.

I have lost 6 lbs since January and each day I marvel that I am loosing weight and I am eating properly. I thought I would be disappointed that I have not dropped the lbs off in one year but strangely I am not. I am so comforted that I am not gaining and simply enjoying my journey. During our heat wave, I ate ice cream and maintained. Guess what I am saying to everyone is to accept our slow losses and not worry about the next guy.

Wow! what an inspiration you are. Congratulations on your success. Sure hope you keep posting your journey to assist others that are just starting out who have plateaued for one reason or another.

I went down to the Northwest Fill Clinic and paid $250 American and was very impressed with the ladies there. You may want to consider going down to Marysville, Washington. The clinic is easy to find.
-
I hope you are successful. At $100 to $150 a fill, it makes good business sense. While you are lobbying, try to get a fluro machine as well. I paid $250 for one and the sense of relief that all was well made it all worthwhile.

I have heard Dr. Leung is not sympathetic to aftercare with his patients and can be quite demeaning. To some this can be devasting. It is a shame that an individual is put down simply because they ask their doctor for a fill. I think the medical profession has a lot of self educating to be done and I guess we are the forerunners for other bandsters to come.

Good for you. The band is a wonderful tool if used properly and you are on the right track in focusing on your behavior. Keep up the good work and thoughts. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. I too am working on behavior and it is not easy but thank goodness I have the band to keep me on the straight and narrow.

well done. when did you get the band and what are you finding the hardest?

I wish you all the best in your journey. The doctor at St. Pauls as I understand is very good.

If you are interested, the contact I have for the False Creek Surgical Centre is Rhonda Winter, RN, CLNC, Co ordinator for the Lap Band program. rwinter@nationalsurgery.com. I suspect vacations is the reason for no reply. Rhonda attended our support group and I found her supportive of our group. Try her if you haven't already.
