June Sleever's Compilation - Good Luck & Well Wishes
MoreganK replied to MinaT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
[quote name=McSleevy ' timestamp='1339009388' post='365907] That is wild! My best friend lives in Cypress and is school teacher in Cy-Fair. My husband and I just moved to Dickinson a year ago to be closer to family and our church. So is your surgeon in the Houston area? What hospital is your surgery going to be at? My doctor is Dr. Shernan Yu at TLC, (their commercials air all the time)... Lol So what is your PRE-OP diet? Yes, my surgeon is Dr. Todd Worley. He is at Methodist Willowbrook. He has so far been the best decision. Hopefully, I'm still staying the same thing post-op! I have a one week liquid diet pre-op. I'm soooo not looking forward to it, because I'll still be going to work. I've warned my co-workers, that who ever tries to tease me with food that week will be who I stand next too if I get queasy sick after surgery. That seemed to quiet them. LOL We for sure should stay in touch!! -

HA! I so get you. I was walking through the mall with my boyfriend the other day, pointing out all the store I want to shop from when I get close to goal! Thats what I've been doing so far too. Reminding myself of all the good things a week or so of discomfort will bring. But, sometimes those unknowns get the better of me. -
Was it difficult starting on your pre-op. In some ways, I'm most concerned about surviving that week!

This is good to hear! Hoping after surgery I return to "normal" too.

Oh my gosh! McSleevy, not only are you and I June 27th sleevers, but I'm from Santa Fe, right next door! My parent's house is practically in Dickinson. HA! I didn't expect to see anyone on here from around home. I live in the Cypress area now, but am hoping to relocate back that way early next year. -

I'm Having Surgery Sooner Than I Thought!

Good luck, hon! I hope everything falls into place for you. And if it doesn't this time, keep fighting to find a way to make it happen. I just got my surgery date, so I'm that phase of , Whoa, its really happening. June 27th I will be reborn. Hope to see your story as it evolves! -
For the Protein drinks, have you tried nut milks? My nutritionist recommended that I use plain soy or almond milks instead of cow's milk. She said that the lactose in the cow's milk is a sugar, and if I can avoid it in my milk, then that much better! Even though they are yummy, while you're healing, steer clear of the flavored soy or almond milk, they do have a little bit of added sugar. Silk is the brand that I prefer most for both of these, and is relatively easy to find in most grocery stores. I also was told to get the flavorings that you buy for baking to add to my shakes or puddings. Add a couple of drops of vanilla, rum, almond, orange, etc... to help the taste or just for variety. My nutritionist suggested also getting the super soft tofu to blender in to shakes and pudding to hide protein that way. I'm not where you are yet, so I'll be watching this thread! My surgery is 6/27! I'm in that excited/nervous place now.

Very inspiring story! Thank you for sharing it with all of us. I look forward to watching your continued and amazing progress! To do what you did pre-surgery is so, just... strong. You are a rock star.

Wow Spatters.... glad to see your positive follow up comment. *huge hugs to you!* Your post actually just hit a note for me. I have PCOS, and it has caused some complications, which is a small word for all the issues. My Oby-gyn told me that if I don't lose weight, I'm a prime candidate walking down the road to uterine cancer. I'm pre-op and I get wobbly about my decision sometimes, thinking about all the foods I have to give up, but this post is a reminder as to the real reasons why this is an important decision. Thank you for sharing with us.

Thats awesome!! I can't wait for that moment myself!

Yay! Congraulations!

My doc said to wait at least a week or 2 and after that what feels alright. If it hurts don't do it, if it doesn't hurt do it! This applied to exercise as well.

June 5Th Surgery - Looking For Some Pals!
MoreganK replied to ShannonK's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Luckily, my insurance didn't really require any pre-qualification things, but my surgeon does. He is very detailed about know as much about each patient as he can. Its why I chose him. Isn't this website just the best? I'm so happy I discovered it. -

June 5Th Surgery - Looking For Some Pals!
MoreganK replied to ShannonK's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Shannon! I'm at the last phase of my pre-op qualifications. My surgeon wants me to talk to a psychologist and see a nutritionist. I've already visited with a cardiologist, and have to do one more test with him. Which all of these things I have scheduled out for Monday and Tuesday. None of them are anticipating there to be a hang up. I then see my surgeon and schedule. I'm expecting a surgery date in mid-June. So, our after surgery journey should be pretty close. Good luck!!! I'll friend you so we can keep up with each other's progress. Let's do this! -
Losing Inches!
MoreganK replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats awesome! Congratulations on you success so far! So how is it? The liquid part of the diet? I'm finishing up my pre-op doctor qualifications next week and should be scheduling my big day in a week or two. I'm so ready and very excited to the show on the road. The part I'm looking least forward to right now, is the liquid diet the week pre-surgery. Any tips and things to be aware of that you wish you prepared for? -
