New Feb Sleevers Any Regrets? Best And Worst Thing So Far
nicmack31 replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
indi1- I had the same thing the first 2 weeks- the crying at a drop of the hat...example: I dropped a tupperware bowl and burst into tears (good lord, really!?) but that has since evened out. I do still once in awhile get sad and feel sorry for myself, but then I remember why I did this and think of the great things to come: ie, being able to run around better with my kids, health benefits, looking SMOKIN!, and I get over it. It does get better/easier with each day! -
How Long Until Your Self-Image Changed?
nicmack31 replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Totally agree. I'm only 3.5 weeks out, but have now lost 25 pounds. My friends and family gush about how great I look, but I honestly don't see it yet (other than in my face). Hoping the mind catches up with the body, because I want to ROCK this once blustery MN gets a bit warmer!! -
Body Wraps? Does It Really Tighten Your Loose Skin?
nicmack31 replied to JaspersGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I swear by Mary Kay's Timewise body toning lotion. I have used it now for a few years and even with wt loss I have had in the past, it keeps up with the sagging skin and stretch marks. It is GREAT!! It also smells fabulous and costs WAY less than body wraps and can be used all over the body- places that a wrap can't easily work on. www.marykay.com/nmack4 if you are interested. :-) -
I just went back to work Thursday, so that has helped. I also have 3 kids that keep me busy. Besides that, I am just getting into pinterest. I do look at the food, but more in recipes that are healthful that I could try after I can start eating again. I am also addicted to facebook! EEK! I also sell Mary Kay, so I have been trying to stay busy with that.

New Feb Sleevers Any Regrets? Best And Worst Thing So Far
nicmack31 replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 2/8. My loss has been about 25 pounds. I lost a huge chunk the first 1.5 weeks, then none for over a week. We do have a stall somewhere around 2-4 weeks. The emotions, etc is very common, not only with the HUGE change we are going through, but also from a big influx of estrogen that happens when you have quick wt loss- in women it is stored in abdominal fat. I too, am still on liquids, and can't wait to CHEW some food! But each day it gets easier and feels like I am settling more into my new life. I am getting in my liquids fine, but having a hard time getting in exercise.... -
Mine says no mushies until after 4 weeks

I woke up in the hospital next day with my period. And I have not had one in years! (have an IUD)

Sounds like a pulled muscle. If its not getting better, call your surgeon. -

I had surgery the day before you. I started at 240. Currently at 216. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us!! -
Welcome Brielle!

Thanks for the input! I see my surgeon on Tues so we will talk about it then...in the meantime, I am going to have some yogurt! And yes, I take pepcid, but I was supposed to take it twice a day and have only been taking it once, maybe I should step it up!

So I am just 3 weeks post sleeve and I feel like I am starving!! I thought the hunger didn't come back for quite some time! It is real hunger...I have had some head hunger too, but this is real body needs food hunger! HELP! Not supposed to start pureed foods until next week, but I have cheated a little and had some pudding and yogurt.

A Little Good News In An Otherwise Terrible Few Weeks...
nicmack31 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sorry to hear about the loss and your grandpa, but great news that he is fighting so hard! -
I understand! It is hard to feel that way, but who got to a great place without a few setbacks....its that they don't let it get them down and keep moving towards the goal! You can do it. As a nurse, I would call my doc or nut if I had a blood sugar of 60 and get a better diet plan. It is not safe to have your sugars dropping that low.
-
Congrats to all of you!! I was also sleeved recently- 2/8. It is a huge adjustment, but a good one! I am still on liquid diet. I get hiccups when I drink too much at a time or when I am tired. Its normal to be "gassy" after this surgery as all of your insides were moved around and lots of swelling still in your pouch. Good luck to you all!!
-
Completely normal to feel that way before and after surgery. Just know it gets better each day and it is totally worth it!!

So tomorrow I go back to work. Surgery was 3 weeks ago today. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I have been into my clinic a few times (I am a RN, clinic coordinator there) and pretty much everyone that I work with knows what surgery I have had and are very supportive. I am getting a bit stir crazy at home, but have cherished my time with my kiddos. I am a bit worried about my energy level still being low and having my intake of fluids stay where they are changing up my regular routine. I'm not really sure how to get my exercise in once I go back to work. I do have stairs I can walk up and down on my lunch break though. I work all day long and then come home to 3 young kids.... and I live in MN (and unfortunately we just got a dumping of ice and snow last night). Any suggestions or pointers would be great!!

Trying To Change My Life :)
nicmack31 replied to CindyGo1313's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have been a nurse for over 10 years. I don't work in med surg, but in a clinic doing patient ed and teaching on diabetes, weight loss, etc. At least my patients have not ever looked at me like it was crazy I was talking to them about these things, but I felt it. I too have been asked when my baby is due and I tell them 4 years ago (when my last daughter was born!). Congrats to you on your degree and on making the decision! -
Wow! Great job!!! That was some wonderful will power!
