I was on 3 meds for my diabetes. Insulin 130 units, Victoza and Metformin 1000mg x2 a day. I took no meds after I left the hospital for my diabetes. Sugars running around 110 fasting. Less than 60 days out of surgery my diabetic A1C was down to 5.7%. It was 6.7% before surgery with the 3 meds. Today 10 months out at 5.5% Sugars run anywhere from 78 - 92. A bonus: my high blood pressure is back into the normal ranges. I was on 2 meds before surgery. No meds since surgery for that one either. Good luck and God bless you!

protein is making me sick
Liberated Sleeve replied to msreaina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't start any protein shakes until Week 2. Maybe your stomach is just still too raw from surgery to handle it. All I drank was bullion, water, Fuze, etc for Week 1. Ate sugar free popsicles. But, I agree with everyone else, call your nutritionist or surgeon to find suggestions. -

2lbs....WTH?
Liberated Sleeve replied to Takingcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Alot of people would be in heaven to lose 2lbs a week! Just learn how your body is going to lose it and embrace it! You didn't gain it all in one night or week or year so just do what you are suppose to do, eat right and listen to your surgeon!! Look at your TICKER! -
10 months and met my goal!! 10 more lbs and will meet Surgeons! But I am happy happy happy where I am!! BMI 23 - OMG!

Bad Multivitamin!
Liberated Sleeve replied to cherrybombknits's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I take the Bariatric Fusion ones and love them. They are chewable. I am going to check out the Flintstones and see if they have the same percentages and maybe I will try them. -
My stalls last around 2-3 weeks - gotten to where I don't really consider them stalls, just the way my body is losing and readjusting. Gone from size 24 to size 14 in 5/12 months 61 pounds since surgery. For some that's slow losing but for me - just right! I do exercise - I make sure I walk at least 15 mins minimum everyday. Usually do alot more but that is the least I will do. 8-10 glasses of Water and 80-120 grams of Protein. Just figure out your body and how it loses and make adjustments until you feel great!

What Life Is Like 4 Years After Sleeve Surgery
Liberated Sleeve replied to Suzannesh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Absolutely fabulous testimony Suzanne! I am now 5 1/2 months out and every great once in a while I wonder if I will be able to maintain this over time. My thoughts always turn to "I don't have any idea what the future holds, but I do know I am going to keep doing what I am doing (walking everyday and eating right) and let life happen. I will not let food control me again." Thanks for posting this. I remember about one week out I read this part in your long post............"You know we never think twice about making car payments. If you have to borrow the money for this surgery just look at this as “body payment.” This was such a light bulb moment for me and I was like "heck yeah, thanks Suzanne"! LOL - -
Stupid Question Alert! Why Remove 80% Of Stomach, Why Not 65%
Liberated Sleeve replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My best friend asked me why i was doing something so drastic? I had lost weight in the past so I could do it again. (She weighs as much as I did) She said she would support me (and she has) but she was scared for me. This was my answer "I had lost weight but never been able to maintain it and that taking 3 different medications for diabetes and 2 for high blood pressure had me at a point where I believed this drastic measure was necessary. I did alot of research and came to love the sleeve and the restriction it would give me. I picked a surgeon that I had compelte trust in. When I asked about the size I was completely comfortable with his answer about the stretchy portion. I believed that I had stuffed my face enough in my 50 years with everything I wanted and the size stomach he was leaving me would hold enough food to keep my nutrition levels up and satisfy my body's needs." I am 5 1/2 months out and my best friend just asked me for my surgeon's name & number because as she told her husband...."She eats and drinks everything we do just in smaller quantities. Her skin looks healthy and her hair too. I want to do that too!" LOL! All I can say is make sure in what you are reading and researching you understand the stage that the person is in when they are posting their comments! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my sleeve!! -
5 1/2 Months Out And Doing Fabulous!
Liberated Sleeve posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well I am at 5 1/2 months out and doing great!! No problems so far, no vomiting so far!! scale is moving at the pace I wanted so as to not have too much loose skin! I have a little bit but I am old - lol - well not really old, just turned 51 Thursday!! Feeling so fabulous, almost like I am 35 again!! I would do this again and have no regrets other than of course I didn't do it 10 years ago! My favorite part of my whole journey is that I have kicked all diabetes and blood pressure meds and no longer use a sleep apnea device!! My diabetes A1C has been 5.7% the last two checks!! I am not a work out freak but I do exercise everyday by walking. Sometimes I am frolicking (lol) in the ocean or swimming in a pool or even roller skating!! I thank God everyday for this procedure!! I know I don't post much on here anymore, occasionally I stop in, but that doesn't mean I don't care, just busy with life! If you have questions feel free to personal message me and I will chat with you! God bless you all and check out my before and after album in my profile under Gallery if you want!!- 9 replies
