Wow...I hope you heal real fast! Sorry you had to go through this!

I haven't been online because our house suffered some damage when the house next door to us burned to the ground on Saturday. :think Can anyone in the DFW area recommend a contractor that they have personally used and been 100% happy with?

I've known about my sleep apnea for years, and since I can't stand using the CPAP, it's been left largely untreated. My husband says that since the day of the surgery, since I was sleeping on a slight incline, my apnea isn't as bad as it used to be.

I'm 2 wks post op. If I eat something small every 2 hours, it keeps that ravenous hunger at bay. But boy, if it's 2 hours, 15 minutes, watch out! This is probably my doc told me to eat 5 times a day lol

How is a working person suppose to get all these pre-op tests done!?
HelenC replied to Candle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You're one of the exceptions, Wheetsin, you have to know that -
I used one Dulcolax, and someone suggested Gerber Apple Prune juice (yes, the baby juice).

I called my doc today about my port tenderness today and was told it was absolutely normal. We're feeling it now because the swelling has subsided.
-
UGH..."This is normal, no need to come in"

There is a 42g Protein at Bariatric Eating too, cheaper from the looks of it. http://store.bariatriceating.com/conewwhlipr.html

Not until the 20th. I do think it's time to call him though and move that up.
-
Oh GOOD....glad to hear that
-
*groan* I was afraid someone would say that. No, no pain meds - have to stay coherent for work. It's worse during the day than in the evening, but will take some Tylenol at night.

Um, well, let me give you some advice - when they say liquids, they mean "don't put a piece of stromboli in your mouth on the 4th day after surgery"! I had my first PB then, and hurt my esophegus to the point I was dependent on fluids only for the next 3 days. Since then...no, no regrets. I'm 19.1 lbs down since 2/1 when my pre-op diet started and I'm thrilled. You'll eventually realize that you probably can't eat this certain food, or that certain food, and that's really a tough time....but you'll get past it. The positives are far superior to the negatives Don't be nervous...there are a lot of us here to hold your hand, and we'll be waiting for your posts when you get home

Does your doctor's scale weigh you heavier than at home???
HelenC replied to Sunta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Plan A: Take your scale to the doctor's office and adjust accordingly. Plan B: Add the extra pounds to your starting weight, and just go on from there. You've still lost the same amount of weight, only the starting number is different. I've had to do that and it's a bitter pill to swallow, but the bottom line is the same -
I recommend taking the week AFTER surgery While some people can return to work right away, I don't think that's the norm.
-
Glad you're doing better. I had planned to go to back to work on the 8th days...I ended up returning on the 12th day. I'm glad I took that extra time. Amazing how furkids always know the worst time to play

I was thinking as I walked into the surgical center that maybe this wasn't a good idea

considering Dr. Benavides in Dallas
HelenC replied to conniecash's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
When you find someone that is 100% perfect, 100% of the time, let the rest of us know. We'll be waiting by the edge of the Water that he'll be walking on -
Is there no liquid form available? Have you tried cutting it in half?
-
I have to agree with you Myra! I think I've tried 100 different Protein drinks (Myoplex is my favorite), and I now have a pantry filled with baby food fruits and Better Than Boullion (I thought it was far too strong). On the other hand, who wants to go shopping right after surgery?
-
No, thank goodness! Dr. B had me do a regular Breakfast and dinner, with a Protein shake for lunch and before bed. It wasn't too difficult to do, and I did lose 5 lbs. I'm having a much tougher time right now because I'm STARVING! (bandster hell!)
-
OK, I'm staring at a great big bottle of chewable Fiber Choice. Before I actually open it, is there any reason I shouldn't use this?
-
I used to design websites professionally, and this is a very nice job Dr. C!

Oh believe me, Pat, it was the softener! I work about 75 feet from one bathroom and 15 feet from another...But the one I'm closer to, we're not allowed to use...grrr! "Office visitors only" I sure wasn't going to risk any major accidents getting 75 feet down the hall!
-
LOL Steph...I'm pretty sure you'll be at least 20 lbs lighter by then I'm down 17.7 lbs since 2/1, when I started my pre-op diet.
