Yes, I make sure I eat my protein first.

Thanks Susan

Stacy, the pre-op diet is simply to shrink your liver to protect it a little better. I only lost 5 lbs pre-op but was given the go ahead

If you read these forums, you'll find several people who are "slow losers"...but they keep losing. The odds are with you though. Do you want to miss the opportunity that it "could" work, compared to the relative small chance it "may not"?

12 days total. Went back on the 13th day...had no energy, still hurting a bit, but I got through it. It's been 24 days now, and I'm at 97% energy and no pain at all.

Your youth will help a lot, and so will exercising - but no guarantees on this one.

What's the worst thing someone said to you?
HelenC replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes for all of you! I can't believe the way you've been treated by family, friends, and absolute strangers! HUGE hugs go out to all of you!! I've been fortunate in that I carry my weight extremely well, and while I was getting bigger, it was all very proportionate...people just didn't realize how much I weighed. It is very interesting though, that as the weight comes off, NOW people are commenting - telling me they can see it in my face, etc. The woman next door, a friend of mine, told me this morning that all the MEN in the neighborhood are talking about how much weight I've lost! -

Some Questions about Sleep After Banding
HelenC replied to Fenton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pete, if there's any way you can manage it, try elevating the head of your bed by about 3" (books, wood, whatever). My hubby did that for me the first few days and I slept great. -
What's funny is almost literally, the very next day after that post, the port incision pretty much quite hurting. There is a twinge of pain here and there, but for the most part, the near-constant pain has vanished!

OK, I've been back to work 4 full days and we're 90 minutes into the 5th day. I took 12 days off work after the surgery, and for the most part, things are going along like I expected. What I did NOT expect was this near-constant pain at my port incision site. It feels like my port is rubbing constantly on the incision from the inside out. Sometimes it's sharper than others, but it's always a sharp pain. Is this normal? If so, how much longer is it going to take to stop hurting? I seem to be always holding my stomach so the port doesn't rub and people think I'm in trouble when I do that *rolls eyes* so I spend half my time reassuring everyone I'm ok. It hurts when I walk, when I stand, when I drive...the only time it doesn't hurt is when I first get up.

In the blue strip before "Introductions", you'll use User CP. Click that, Edit Signature, and then paste your tickerfactory in there, Save and you're done :woot: And welcome

It's that whole "tone" thing...doesn't come across online. Going back and re-reading it, I can see where you were coming from.

Welcome to LBT, Bunny! Gotta love a woman who knows what she wants and gets it done!

Does anyone have a problem with eating shrimp? I know we can eat lobster and fish (after healing, obviously), but my Inamed booklet said shrimp may be a problem - and I love shrimp

Finally recovered from tummy tuck & Breast Lift
HelenC replied to spldgrl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Glad you're feeling better Spydr. If you don't mind me asking, who did your surgery and how much was it? When I get done, I'm thinking TT and BL, at the minimum, and arm lift if I can swing it. -
What did you feel when you awoke from surgery?
HelenC replied to luv2bingo07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just felt groggy and my stomach was sore. -
Definitely the peel. Feel sorry for you...been there, done that I've been afraid to try any fruit yet, but I understand that you should peel anything with a peel.

My doc says no less than 30 days, which is too bad because I'm having to eat a little something every two hours to prevent the most raging hunger I've ever felt! I was banded 2/14 - getting my first fill 3/15.

Hi - bread is a problem for many of us. If you must have it, trying toasting it and sticking with the high grain breads. Soda is off limits forever...it's bad for your band. If you're expecting the band to do the work for you, you need to re-evaluate. It's a tool, and you have to learn to work with it Now that I've nagged..Hi! Welcome to the Board!!

I noticed today that my skin is dry. I believe (from past diet experiences) that this is due to a lack of fat in our diets. Try cooking in olive oil, real butter, something, but get in at least one fat per day.

Eh, I kinda peeled my strips off myself at 12 days, if they seemed ready to go. Most were, one wasn't...I gave it a couple of more days and then took it off
