How long does it take to recover?
HelenC replied to Lisa H's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I thought I was just taking 6 days off, I ended up taking 11, and was glad I had them. I have a desk job, but lots of walking. -
Now that you've done it, you might want to go back on liquids for 24 hours or so. If you're just sliming, not PB'ing, I'd do liquids for 24, mushies for 24, and see how it goes after that. Now if you're doing it every 15 minutes like me, go get an unfill immediately!

Ugh Mary, I can't imagine having to do this on an airplane!! I'd have to just hole up in the bathroom and stay there. We're supposed to meet between 5-6, it's 4:39 now...hoping I can hang in there. Thanks for the advice on the water...I think you're right.

OMGOMG...that never even crossed my mind! LMAO!! Pretty awesome that he's doing this for me. Of course, it helps him too. 5 minutes on the side of the road he's already taking to get where he's going, compared to having to go to the office, open it up, meet me there, shut it down....

The on-call doctor this weekend happens to be the partner of Dr. Benavides (Dr. Felts). He's going to east Texas this afternoon, and is going to meet me somewhere in Terrell with a needle to remove the fill. I told him on the phone that I didn't even care if we did it in the backseat of my car...only remembering afterwards I drive a truck...lol...whatever, we'll work it out. I'm definitely unable to hold down my own saliva. I'm getting sick every 10-15 minutes.

Weird, had a post, hit submit and it was gone. I'm not sure if it's the Water I'm getting sick on (it was a tiny sip) or whether I'm actually not holding down my saliva. My doctor, of course, is out of town. I'm hoping the on-call doc isn't the one out by you Carlene...that's a long ass drive for me, and I'm not actually sure I could do it...and my hubby is also out of town.

Well, after getting sick FIVE times on that one small gulp of coffee, I'm now so swollen that I can't drink water. Is it time to try to find a doctor for an unfill, or just try to hold on another day and see if it resolves?
-
$150 for a fill isn't actually that bad. My doc is billing my insurance company $250 for a fill. And even though you have a 7cc band, don't think that a fill needs to be that much! It's called an "adjustment" for a reason. Your body needs to adapt to each new fill. This is a process...not an instant fix

I found out this weekend that I may have Mortons Neuroma, which is preventing me from walking any distance at all. I can get just about a mile before the pain gets to be too much. Does anyone else have this? I see a podiatrist on Friday.

Need Help with protein shake.
HelenC replied to captain danbo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Myoplex Fudge is my favorite, and the EAS Advantage is the close second. Neither have a chalky taste and are quite pleasant. -
LOL! Well, I'm up for a Forney lunch some weekend, just yell!
-
I hope you feel better soon! I remember feeling a little dizzy for a while after surgery too, but it straightened out when I went on mushies.

I can't address your skin coming off, but I highly recommend that if you aren't prone to depression, you talk to your doctor about Accutane. I spent two years doing antibiotics and topicals, until we finally went to Accutane. It cleared up my rosacea in the first month, but I stayed on it for 6 months, and I've been rosacea free for over 5 years.

Did you work for Jim's Pizza? They're the only ones I know of that deliver out there. We order from them so much that now when I call in, they just ask "are you the ones with the white van in the driveway?" and confirm that month's gate code...lol

It sounds like you're getting enough nutrition. Were it me, I'd also consider adding a Multivitamin in there - either chewable Flintstones or liquid Centrum. The diarrhea will pass - liquids in, liquids out Let me ask you this - did you drink coffee/soda pre-band, that you aren't now?

I live off 429 and 751, by Scottie's (just west of Duck Cove). It's the Kitsee Knoll area.
-
You may want to call your doctor. It sounds like you may not be getting enough nutrition in. What are you "eating"?
-
We really should plan to get together! While I live in Quinlan, I work in Dallas and come through Forney every day! *giggle* We could eat at Chili's, order the child's plate and have leftovers for 2 days

I'm about to scream! :help: I went last night to buy a new pair of slacks. I had bought a pair last week in a 16W, and they fit too loose. However, a regular 16, while they go all the way up and zip, wouldn't be practical because I can't sit down! Honestly, it didn't occur to me to try a 14W (primarily because they didn't have a 14W in this particular slack). So there are regular sizes (14, 16, 18, etc), and women's sizes (14W, 16W, 18W, etc.) and there are junior sizes (11, 13, 15, etc.) For the time being, let's exclude the junior sizes because at 51, most of them are too young for me, no matter how young I look or act! But what is the difference between a woman's size and a Misses size? Or is Misses the regular size? I've been shopping in the Plus sizes for so long, I just don't "get it"!!

Good luck! Do you know who you're using yet? I used Richard Benavides in Richardson and am happy with him.

Thanks! That's helpful to know.

Annnnd Sanjaya is FINALLY GONE!!!!
HelenC replied to hotpink_bubbles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nice kid, and I think he took the whole thing in stride, but I really am glad he's gone! His presence as some of the better singers left was a constant sore spot, and my husband had started refusing to watch AI because of it! -
Dr's in Dallas, TX and Insurance info
HelenC replied to jfrendle's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
It sounds like you have at least one co-morbidity (sleep apnea) so it may not be so difficult for you to get approved. Losing weight? There isn't one of us here that isn't a pro at losing weight! The big issue is keeping the weight off once you've lost it. Tell your wife that having lapband will probably do away with your CPAP, lower your cholesterol, and possibly help with the allergies...all of which is true -

You should ask around and see who other people used, as you are here, and then attend their seminar. I used Richard Benavides in Richardson, and am fairly pleased with him and his staff. There are a lot of DFW people on this forum, so you should get quite a few responses.
