On June 20th I reported no loss from the previous post on June 13th. I weighed 196.2 lbs that week. Fast forward 2 weeks to today and I weigh 191.8. That's a 4.4 lb loss in 2 weeks. Woo! Hoo! My goal for this challenge was to lose 11 lbs. I started this challenge at 201 so I am 1.8 lbs away with 1 week to go. Here are my original goals: 1. Get to Onederland-COMPLETED 2. Lose 11 lbs 3. Work out 3-4 times per week (I'm at 4-5 times) 4. Track all my food in MFP (been diligently inputting my food) 5. Get to week 5 of C25K. (I may not make it-I found Zumba and fell in love. However I am on week 4) New goals: Same as above, plus I would like to get to 189. So 2.8. lbs to go in 1 week. Fingers, toes, eyes, arms and legs crossed! Good luck everyone as we end this last week of the July 4th challenge.

I was still sore through week 2. Hmmm, yes I think although the action of turning on my side was painful from what I remember. I don't think I tried. Yes, was bruised through week 3. Also, i was very weak (bone crushing weak, not tired, but weak) on the 2nd, 3rd and a some on the 4th week. Everyone is different, but it might be a good idea to know it may hit you. Also, while during the mushy food stage I went through regrets and depression about getting sleeved. I couldn't eat normal food, wasn't seeing weight loss and thought I had made a huge mistake. By week 6 I was so happy I had done the surgery. I just think it's important to hear others experiences so you know what could happen. Everyone is different and you may never experience what I went through. I'm almost 4 months post op now and feeling great and down 52lbs. I hope you recover quickly. Good luck to you!

Swimsuit Comparison Pics! Brave, I Know!

You look incredible! -
The timing of this thread or me finding it is perfect for today. I was wearing some of my old comfortable Victorias Secret cotton panties today and they felt weird. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with them. You know the cotton crotch area where you have a seam at the front and the back? Well the seam in the back of the crotch was halfway up my bottom today and it felt weird like when the seam of your sock on your foot isn't right. I couldn't figure out what in the world was going on because these undies fit me last week. Anyway I went into the bathroom and saw that the tops of my undies were pulled over my pants and even bunched up and this is why they didn't feel loose. Lol! Needless to say, those undies have been thrown away. I'm buying cheap Hanes until I get to goal. Good luck on your undie quest!

But I Do Wanna Be A Size 6
jhansen71 replied to Texarkolina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great post! I spent my 20's and most of my 30's being obese. I turned 40 last year and dreamt of being a size 6. My goal is to lose 100 lbs from pre-op and this will put me there. My doctor's goals didn't even get me in the healthy BMI range so I lowered his goal too (his went from 185 to 155). I know I can do it and knowing he is expecting it from me will only motivate me more. 143 is my personal goal (started at 243.6), but not sure this is realistic as I and 5'5" tall and large frame (size 11 shoe and hands so big I can palm a basketball-lol!). I want so badly to say I've lost 100 lbs. However, if the doctor says I need to stop at 155 I will listen. I was a size 6 at this weight in my early 20s and I know I would be extatic with it. Btw, for me, health is a by-product of being smaller; the smaller I am, the healthier I feel, the more active I am, the more my heart beats on and on and on and on..... -
Wow! Congrats Former_VBG! So happy for you.

My Hubby Doesn't Support Me Spending $15K For Surgery
jhansen71 replied to tango16's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Fortunately for me my DH was very supportive because he wanted me healthy and around long enough for our son to grow up. He never dreamed that there would be benefits for him. Since losing 50+ lbs, my energy and activity level have skyrocketed. He's getting lucky way more often and we are actually social now and doing more as a couple. I didn't realize how my weight affected our marriage in such a negative way because I was so unhappy with me. Having this surgery has not only been the best thing I've done for my health, but also for my marriage. We celebrate 12 years this year and I feel like we are in the honeymoon stage all over again. I still have 48 lbs to goal, but I'm living life again already and life couldn't be better. Let him get on VST and look at all the stories. Go on to YouTube.com and look at all the before and afters. Maybe this will help him come around. Good luck! -

I sure hope bald and skinny becomes the "in" thing as I am on my way to both. Lol!

Okay, so this is a visual of my hair loss. This is from my morning bath. There is no way my hair growth can keep up with this loss. I will be bald at this rate.

Lose And Loose Are Two Completely Different Words
jhansen71 replied to Globetrotter's topic in Rants & Raves
I would also like to add two more words that are being misused. To-I need to get my butt to the gym. Too-Can you please add me to MFP too (not to)? Weight-I lost weight today! Weigh-My starting weight (not weigh) was 200 lbs. How about periods and question marks? I see people that never use a single punctuation mark and I can't tell where the sentence ends or begins. I bet all the people that use improper English have me beat at math. We all have our weak (not week) points. Lol! -
Small Goals Make It Seem Achievable...
jhansen71 replied to jhansen71's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So I know some of you already do this, but I find setting small goals gives me little victories along the way and prevent me from getting discouraged when stalls hit. When you have large amount of weights to lose it can seem daunting to reach a huge goal. Setting small ones along the way help us reach them. The way I do it is set a goal and state the reason why it's my goal. Then I set several others after them. See below: Starting today, 209.6 (down from 243.6-includes 2 week pre-op and surgery on 3/13/12) 1st goal- lose 6 (this will take my overall weight loss, including pre-op to 40 lbs/ weight will be 203.6) COMPLETED 2nd goal-lose 4 (this will take me to Onederland, 199.6) COMPLETED 3rd goal-lose 6 (this will take me to 50 lbs weight loss and half way to goal,193.6) COMPLETED 192.2 lbs today 4th goal-lose 4 (this will take me to the 180's, 189.6) 5th goal-lose 6 (this will take me to 60 lbs lost and 60% to goal, 183.6 6th goal-lose 0.6 (this is my wedding weight from 13 years ago,183) 7th goal-lose 4 (this will put me at 179-I haven't seen the 170's in 16 years,179) 8th goal-lose 5.4 (this will put me at 70 lbs lost and 70% to goal, 173.6) 9th goal-lose 4 (this will put me in the 160's, 169.6) 10th goal-lose 6 (this will put me at 80 lbs lost and 80% to goal, 163.6) 11th goal-lose 4 (this will put me in the 150's-haven't seen this in 18 years, 159.6) 12th goal-lose 6 (this will put me at 90lbs lost and 90% to goal, 153.6) 13th goal-lose 4 (this will put me in the 140's, 149.6) 14th goal-lose 6 (GOAL!!! 100 lbs lost) 15th goal-maintain, maintain, maintain Please join me if you like. When we achieve our mini goals it feels so good and it's a chance to celebrate successes along the way. Good luck! I have completed 3 of my 15 goals!!! Woo hoo! My goal is to make it to goal #4 by July 4th. Seems fitting, 4th goal on the 4th. Good luck to me!!! -

I say whatever makes it easy to find. Just remember as you lose weight to go back to the site and re-calculate your calories based on your new weight. My plan is to do it in every new 10 lb bracket. When I first calculated I weighed 196, so when I hit 185 I will do it again. This way my calories burned will always be accurate. -
Great job!

SW: 243.6 CW: 192.2 1.8 lbs lost since last week. I made it past the 50 lbs lost to 51.4 lbs lost and more than half way to goal (100lbs). I used MFP religiously and exercised like animal. Would love to lose 3 more lbs by July 4th, fingers crossed. Great job to all the losers this week and to those stuck on stalls and staying on track! Never give up!
