Labor Day Challenge 2012
jhansen71 replied to jhansen71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will. In the meantime fitness goals are great just like you are doing with the mile. I netted more calories yesterday than I have been and lost a half pound overnight. This tells me I need to up my net to 1,000 calories too. Great goal and I'll add this one to mine too. You've so got this, 175 here you come! -
Ha! So I saw your post and decided to weigh this morning and I weighed in at 189.8. My goal was 190 and yesterday I weighed in at 190.4 and missed it by 4 lousy ounces. Maybe we'll kick butt in the labor day challenge and actually make goal by labor day and not the day after. Lol! Good luck to us!!!!!

They took mine out with the band. It sounds like an error.

I've read this entire post and fat irst reading I was so sad and scared for you. Then I read everyone's posts and felt all the love from all our VST friends. Then I saw your 1st results and became joyful. (GOD IS GREAT) Your thread has taken me through a range of emotions and I am elated that things are going in the right direction. It is a true miracle as everyone has said that this was even found. This again is yet another reason why this surgery can be life saving. I will continue to pray until you are cancer free and sitting on the losers bench next to me. God bless you and stay strong!!! Hugs!!!

If you do a search, you will find complications, because this is usually always listed in the title. If you search positive results, hardly anything comes up because we post it in all types of ways like: NSV (non-scale victories), before and after, 4 mos post op, halfway to goal, got my life back, etc. Additionally, you won't see many of us bragging about no complications as there are some (not a lot) that do. My point is, the majority of us never had complications, but you'd never know otherwise unless you asked like you did with this post. This is why this forum is so important. It's here to support, motivate, encourage and answer each others questions. So, having said all this I'm glad you asked and here is my answer: I've had zero complications and I was a band to sleeve revision all done in one procedure. I had more scar tissue and more of a chance of complications. I've had none. I'm 4 mos post op today and have lost 52 lbs. (48 to goal) and like the others have already said, my only complaint is that I didn't do it sooner. Be sure to research your surgeon thoroughly. You may find others on this site who have used him/her. This would be another great search or new thread to start to find out from someone else who actually used your surgeon. If you don't have one, ask for recommendations for the area you live in. This site is full of information, but don't just read the bad stuff. There are a lot of great things on this site to learn and be encouraged by. Good luck with your decision!

Slow Weight Loss Post Revision?
jhansen71 replied to AmberK1026's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm a revision and I have hypo-thyroidism. I'm 4 mos post op and have lost 52 lbs total and 48 lbs to go. I don't lose as quickly as some, but I also think it's because I have less to lose. This makes a huge difference. -
What Did You Tell Your Kids?
jhansen71 replied to CBT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My little boy is 7 and I was worried he would be scared so I just told him that mommy had to have surgery on her tummy and I would be in the hospital for a few days. He asked if it didn't work right and I said "that's right it doesn't work right". After this one question he didn't ask anything else. When he gets older I will tell him the type of surgery, but at this point I don't think he'd understand. He has noticed I've lost weight, but he thinks it's because I've been exercising. He tells me I look skinny. This by far is my favorite compliment as kids are so honest. Side note, I'm not skinny, but am 4 mos post op tomorrow and have lost 52 lbs and have 48 to go. -

No loss for me, but no gain either. I'm on a stall. I worked out like a dog and ate right, but my TOM is near so maybe that is it. Congrats to all of those that lost. Woo! Hoo!!!!

I am almost 4 months post op and have had 3 periods so far. The first 2 were horrible, bad cramps, nausea, back ache, fatigue, crankiness, the whoever nine yards. My last one I never had a single symptom is was coming. No pre-menstrual signs at all, no cramps, no back pain and other than bleeding and a little bloating I almost forgot I was on it. I hope the rest of them are this way.
