Mary Ann, me too!! Mine slipped and I chose to have it removed. I am ok with the decision and have gained between 3-5 lbs since March 8, but I am ok with that. My insurance no longer covers any weight loss surgery so I know that I am on my own, but I can do this.......WE can do this. PM me if you would like, and welcome to unband land........where we do survive!

taking a break from LBT--pointless
kellymoos replied to vinesqueen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Vines, my first thought was, I am going with her. Life with the band sucked, and life without the band sucks. Stay around and just hang it in our no band land section.....We understand...There are times that I don't want to come here, cause "she has her band and I don't". Well regardless of band or no band, we are all striving for one thing......to lose weight. Stay around, you give the best advice.......and I love to read your posts! -
revision new member/Dody
kellymoos replied to dorothy.roden's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi Dody!! My band was also removed in March of 06; I was banded in August of 2003. Mine was removed due to slippage also. I started at 235 and my lowest was 165 and I was 187 at removal and now I am at 190. I have been not eating the bread and drinking the carbonation since the band was removed. I did call about the gastric bypass today, but would need to gain 60 lbs and don't see that happening. It's hard and it sucks, but somehow we will make it. I am 5'7" tall, so I don't see myself at 130, but would like to be at 170; so I need to lose 20 lbs, but if I maintain that would be great too!!! Nice to meet you and take care, keep in touch! -
First of all Sue....like others have said..Great Thread!! Michelle, I found myself in your post. I am doing exactly what you said, besides the drinking with meals, I never could not drink with my meals. But, no carbonation for me. Last night I walked my mile with 5 lb weights on each leg, I refuse to gain my weight back. I want to lose more and have obsessing so much about this weight. When we had the band we didn't really have to "worry" about it creeping back on and if it did, we could get a fill. Now, it is just us and our mind.....scary huh? I hate weight being the only thing I think about 24/7...the scale says I have gained 5 lbs, but I feel like a cow....I hope that I can loose more and maintain.......I know one thing, I am scared....but I do feel better with the band out.
-
Lisa, I am sending hugs your way.....I hope all is well with you!!! You have been through enough.....I know personally that it sucks not to have a band to help us, but I think we all feel better with the band gone! Cheers to us!

Penni, Me too Me too.....I have had several PB's since unbanding. If I eat too much and burp it comes back up and I have had food get stuck. I am still not eating the bread or the sodas.....still keeping on track!! Good Luck to us!

Has anyone used Dr. Spiegel
kellymoos replied to Hopes place's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I moved it for you. I had my band removed last month after having it for 30 months due to slippage. Throwing up, getting food stuck can cause your band to slip. I would wait 6 weeks and if you are able to eat like before the band then make an appointment to get a fill. I don't think his Port Neches office charges if you get a fill and in the same week get an unfill and you will surely know in a week. -
We have our own forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we could control our portions we would have never been banded! -
Has anyone used Dr. Spiegel
kellymoos replied to Hopes place's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I used Dr Spiegel for my band surgery and for the removal of my band. You may want to move this thread under the Doctors and Hospital Forum instead of under the lap band removal forum. If you need help moving it, I can help you! -

Hey!!! I just read your thread about your nephew...how are they doing? You will do fine. I can still feel my "band" tight some mornings or when I get really stressed. It is weird. Take care and keep in touch! -
Shanna, I lost my band on March 8th due to slippage. Just remember that we have learned new eating habits that the band has taught us. I still stay away from breads and carbonation. I have gained 1 pound since February 20th when I had my last fill. It is possible to maintain and still lose. I feel and know your pain so if I may be any help to you, please feel free to pm me. Me and Penni keep in contact and I know she encouarges me, so maybe I can do the same for you. Is there a chance that you will get rebanded?

Bandless Wonders!! Just wanted to share.. Since I did not eat or drink for 5 days prior to my band removal I did not want to use the weight I was when I went to the hospital to have it taken out, I called the dr's office for when I went in on Feb 20th for a fill to get my weight then....I have gained 1 lb......1lb.....! I was so excited!! This is my 4th week unbanded and I feel much better....bet if I took a Fluid pill I would lose that 1 lb..!!! Band or no Band we are still here!!

I can't wait to see what song the pick for the Titantic theme............hmm. Hope to see Bucky and Lisa go soon!!!!!!!!!!

Karen, Just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts!!! Band removal is not the end of the world....and just because "most" gain their weight back after band removal does not mean all!!!!! Take care!
-
I have heard many good things about Dr Schmidt. He is very nice......and caring. Good Luck in whatever decision you make. Dr. Spiegel did my band and unbanding.

30 months and my band has slipped!
kellymoos replied to kellymoos's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone!!! I have no plans to ever get the band again. It worked for me to lose 55 lbs; but I also had to diet and watch what I ate and could not lose the rest of the weight. I will just go solo and see what happens. I think I can maintain, or I can live at the diet Dr....he he -
Gaining back my weight after losing my band... Losing my husband or child...

Paula, Hang in there!! Penni, Thanks I need this, more now than ever:-)
-
Hey Elizabeth......Glad all is going well. We need to be "diet" partners. Pretty weird that we were banded the same week and then unbanded the same week....We need to keep in touch!! Good Luck to us!

I am now hydrated and the recovery has been better than the original surgery. I still feel stuck sometimes, but don't PB! I have to keep this weight off. I may be a VIP at the weight Dr!!
