What kind of kashi bar and cereal do you eat? Sounds yummy. I am glad today was smoother! It will get easier every day. Think how far you have come from before surgery, when you would've given in to the sugar cravings. Keep up the great work I am not sure but I think if I focus on getting my Protein first, the b1 will get better. Just gonna take it one day at a time and they're going to test me again in 3 months. I have been consuming about 950 calories a day, tops. I was having 70g of protein a day, And doing 5 days a week of cardio/weighs. So they want me at 1100 cals per day and at least 75g protein. Today was day one of trying that. I had 1/2 a protein bar with my snack, and then a glass of skim milk for another snack. I can't help feeling anxious and like this is going to make me gain weight, but I will trust them and see how my numbers shake out at my next appointment. Breakfast - 6oz yogurt, 6 almonds, 1/8c blueberries lunch - 1/4c green Beans, 1/2c shredded beef dinner - 3 turkey mini meatballs with bbq sauce, 1/4c bell peppers salad, 1tbsp lite ranch Snack - 8oz skim milk, 1/2 protein bar, 5oz yogurt, 1/3 banana Exercise - 30 min elliptical

I'm confused as to why your surgeon would lecture you. Some bariatric doctors are just downright mean... Hate that! You may want to try liquids for a couple of days and "restart" so to speak. I would not worry about the weight gain. That's to be expected with your unfills and stuck episode. Log your food, try to stick to low salt, natural foods, and keep up the exercise. Things will go back to normal soon. You're doing great!

Why is she being so mean to me?
daisychains7 replied to Jean McMillan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good post. I see where you're coming from. Constructive criticism makes us better. It is motivation. I appreciate my friends who care enough about me to be honest with me. Of course, there are those people out there with less than good intentions. People who are negative, or threatened by the success of others. But I find even if something is not delivered in the right way, you can usually find SOMETHING useful there and take it for what it is. Being a prisoner to every comment someone makes about you, your decisions, or your body is no way to live. -
You are doing great congrats! What kind of exercise have you been doing? It's hard to find something that feels fun and not like a chore at the end of a tiring day. Have you tried zumba, or new work outs?

Hi ladies! I miss you all. Hope you're all doing well on your bandster journey. We just have to remember that ANY progress, even if slower than we would like, is progress. I am so glad we have each others support. Some days are a real struggle mentally but doing my best. I am in the green Zone. Only a few lbs from goal so I am switching my focus from big weight loss numbers to eating nutritious foods, getting fitter, and learning to make this a lifestyle and not a diet. Which is so hard when you have yo-yo'd your whole life. lol.

Wow, I am sorry today was a bad day. food and emotions are so tied together. I still get really bad anxiety and frustration over not being able to eat how I used to sometimes, and it comes out as me being snippy. The food is like a drug truly!! If you can get through the withdrawals it is all uphill from there. Keep sipping Water and filling yourself with clean foods til it's out of your system. I am proud of you, you're doing great and made it through the roughest day hubby is right - you are strong! It is like a life line for me to come here and talk with you ladies.. Nobody understands how hard this journey is. I went in for an adjustment today. I'm still in the green zone so no fill needed. But I got the results of my blood draw and I was so disappointed. Glucose is great (yay.. I am afraid of diabetes as it runs in my family. Part of why I got banded). But my bad cholesterol is higher than it should be, and my good cholesterol is low. My thiamine (B1) is VERY low and they are concerned. They gave me lots of pamphlets on how to adjust my diet to get more of it and more supplements. I just hoped after my weight loss id have perfect test results but its not the case.. They want me to eat more meat, more milk (2 glasses a day). They said I need to up my calories by 100-200. I am just so scared doing that will make me gain weight. It was hard to hear. But now I need to buck up and do better. Breakfast - 6oz yogurt, 6 almonds lunch - pita, 2tbsp Peanut Butter dinner - 1/2c braised beef, 1/2c yams snack - 1/2 Protein Bar, 5oz yogurt, 1/4c mixed berries liquids - water, tea

@Lose_It I am so sorry for all the loss you've experienced lately. That would be hard on anyone, especially now that we don't have food to mask our emotional pain and loneliness. Yes you gained 18lbs but its a learning experience. How do you feel since your fill? It takes a lot of courage to admit you fell of track and not give up! So many times ive fought myself at the grocery store over ice cream, Cookies, chocolate.. I still miss my lifelong best friend food sometimes. I am so proud of you! You can do this!!! Take it a day at a time, tracking your food even if you're not eating perfectly every day. Joining the Y is a great idea. I did a lot of liquids today cuz I had dental work done (ouch). Going in for a possible adjustment tomorrow. Breakfast - 1 Protein bar lunch - 1/2 pita, 1 1/2tbsp Peanut Butter dinner - 3/4c tortilla Soup, 1tsp cheese, 1/4banana snack - 5oz yogurt, 1/4 banana, 1tbsp granola, 1/8c mixed nuts Liquids - Water, tea with soy milk

Eating could've been better today but I did ok w/portion and tracking. Tomorrow I'm hitting it hard with exercise!! I have a fill appt on Weds. Don't think I need more Fluid but it will be good to check in. I feel like I do have acid reflux as previously discussed. It's only certain times and foods tho. So we will see. Breakfast - 6oz yogurt, 6 almonds lunch - 2/3c chicken taco (no shell), 6 tortilla chips dinner - 1/4 piece of bread, 1/2 chicken wing, 1 slice tomato flatbread Liquids - 6oz skim milk, lots of Water

Didn't exercise today. I feel bad about that. I think I need to go back on Vitamin D or maybe iron.. My energy has been so low the past couple days I haven't even left the house. I deal with seasonal depression and its finally hitting. Anyway, doing ok with eating and we are doing benihana as a family tomorrow so I DEFINITELY have to get to the gym tomorrow. Even if just 30min. Breakfast - 3/4c oatmeal (made with skim milk), 10 raisins lunch - 1 pita, 2tbsp Peanut Butter, 1/4 banana, 2 strawberries dinner - 3/4 chicken breast baked with teriyaki sauce, 1/4c sweet potato snack - 10 almonds, 6oz yogurt, 1/3banana

I used to do a lot of dance fitness DVDs! I love to dance. I recommend Billy Blanks Jr.'s dvds. I have the "Groove and Burn" one. He is pretty cheesy but high energy and fun. I also like "The Bollywood Dance Workout" with Hemalayaa. Zumba DVDs are popular too but I much prefer the actual classes.

I'm thinking you may need to go in for an adjustment. At the same time, no amount of fills can stop us from eating "around" our bands. It's hard... Really hard. Don't beat yourself up for making a mistake, but get back on track ASAP. I would suggest writing a meal plan for the next couple of weeks and tracking. Something about seeing what you are eating down on paper makes you think twice about what you put into your body. Get rid of all trigger foods in your house. Make sure you're getting exercise 5 days a week, even if its just walking. Tomorrow is a fresh start!

How many meds?
daisychains7 replied to sunflower72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take a gummy multivitamin every day. I also take vitamin D (small gel pill that's easy to swallow) and occasionally chewable calcium. -
Kashi go lean is the highest protein cereal I've found. Fiber One and Raisin Bran are not bad either. You could have it with some skim milk. Cereal is mostly carbs but if you account for it, there's nothing wrong with enjoying it every now and then.

I was banded at Park Nicollet in May 2012. Great experience. Dr. Svendsen did my surgery and I would recommend him to anyone. He really cares about his patients, and makes you feel at ease. The surgery day experience and the 6 months leading up to it (medically supervised diet, nutritionist appts) went smoothly. The follow up care is great. You can call them any day and they get back to you in a timely manner. They have support group twice a month. I actually look forward to my monthly appointments because the PA and nurses are so supportive and friendly. Some of the nurses there have had WLS themselves so they can speak from personal experience when offering suggestions. My only complaints: There is only one PA who does fills, so the fill appointments are usually at inconvenient times for working people (weekday, middle of the day). Also - the bariatrician I had to see for that first set of appointments (after I'd attended the info session) was VERY rude and discouraging. Fortunately you only see her once total. I don't want to post her name publicly but if you have any questions message me. Thank god i didn't listen to her... i am 140+ lbs down, loving life with the band! I Overall the good far outweighs the bad!

Lost over Thanksgiving but gained over Christmas, ugh!!!
daisychains7 replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate. I have had family visiting on and off for 3 weeks straight. It's literally restaurants, outings and family dinners every other night! It's thrown me off my game a bit and while I'm not gaining, I have been stuck at the same weight for a few weeks. Grr. It's funny how once you indulge the sugar or salty craving, it becomes 100x stronger. Its like a drug. This week I got fed up and wrote a meal plan. I have not been following it perfectly, but is at least a guideline. Track your food, plan out the week, step up the exercise and sip sip sip that Water all day! Hot tea is my go-to when I'm hungry but have already had my 3 meals and 1 snack. The cravings and hunger REALLY sucks right now, but it will get better again. -
I'm sorry to hear that. You have done such a brave thing by getting banded and committing to your health. I know that you can do this, and we're here to support you. What does your doctor say? How long do you feel full after a meal? How many meals are you eating per day? Are you measuring your food? What kind of exercise are you doing? I would suggest tracking all of your food. Your nutritionist can use that as a starting point. I would focus on meeting your Protein goal, drinking lots of Water, and being active. 30 minutes, 5 days a week should kick start things.

Congrats on your 30lb weight loss! It sounds like you are losing 3-4lbs a month. It may be a bit slower than most but any progress is progress. Don't give up. You are throwing up a lot... Have you talked to your doctor about this? What specific foods are you eating before you vomit? What time of day? Are you having warning signals beforehand (burping, hiccups, cramps, fullness)? Are you measuring your food, so as not to eat more than 1 cup in a sitting (even if you feel you could eat more)? I too have days where I feel like I could keep eating forever. Some days are pure willpower! The band doesn't really restrict the amount we can eat. It keeps us full for longer, and keeps us accountable though. How long do you feel full for after a meal? What is your exercise routine like? Are you logging your food/exercise regularly? Sorry to ask a million questions, but it may help us make better suggestions.

Hosting visiting family is so hard with my eating. They love going out to restaurants. We have a dinner planned tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday. Saturday is my "treat day" so I will allow myself to eat whatever on that day, but the other days I am being careful to get the best option on the menu. Its been a real challenge but I have more willpower than I thought, watching my family eating my favorite foods and not ordering that off the menu. And when I do have a bite, it is just a bite, instead of a huge portion I used to eat. My family leaves on Sunday so next week I can't wait to focus on me again and not have temptations around. My goal weight is 175 or 170. I've been stuck at 180 for a couple weeks. I just CANNOT seem to get below that. Breakfast - 1/2c egg beaters, 1tbsp cheddar cheese, 1/2 banana lunch - 1 pita, 2tbsp Peanut Butter snack - 1 nature valley bar, 5oz blueberry yogurt Dinner - 1/2 slice of baked ham, 1/3c green Beans, 1tbsp gravy LIquids - tea with soy milk

Didn't do that great today. The family dinners and brunches are taking a toll. My cravings are bad and I'm not making great choices. I am mad at myself for slipping into some old habits. I am going to have to write down a meal plan for this coming week and exercise extra hard. No excuses! Breakfast - 4oz yogurt, 5 almonds lunch - 1/4c hashbrowns, 1/4c scrambled eggs, 3 grapes, 1/2 piece of French toast with tbsp syrup snack - 3/4c raisin bran with 1/2c skim milk dinner - 4oz catfish, 1/4c sweet potato, 1 broccoli spear Snack - 3/4c mixed berries with some fat free reddi whip
