Pre-Surgery Freakout!!
daisychains7 replied to Lisa Renee Cook Pettit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What is more risky? The risk of complications from banding surgery or the health risks associated with continued obesity? This is a very safe surgery and you CAN do this!! I am about 8 days away... I have freak out moments sometimes. I am scared to fail. I am sad I will never be able to eat as much as I used to... Because honestly I LOVE food. But I know this will be worth it in the end and that there is much more to life than obsessing over food. It helps me to come on here and read success stories. I also pray if I get stressed out. You will be fine. -
That's a good idea. I had a couple people ask me to lunch and dinners this weekend. My sister has been a good support though. She says she will not be eating food around me for these 10 days and has been trying the Protein shakes.
-
I recommend going to GNC or The Vitamin Shoppe. Vitamin Shoppe has slightly better prices.
-
Which day are you on? I'm on day 2 and struggling a bit.
-
Yay, surgery day twins! I hate all the protein shakes at this point but Pure Protein frosty chocolate isn't bad. I keep telling myself if I can get through these next few weeks I can get through anything. I truly never thought I could have this much willpower with food, but I am making it. I am excited for all of us!
-
Thank you. Congrats to you all. wish you all the best!

My pre-op liquid diet is 10 days. I am supposed to have a minimum of 5-6 8oz servings of protein a day. I have been having Isopure, Oh Yeah, and Pure Protein shakes. In addition to the protein I can have broth, low cal gatorade, sugar free jello and sugar free Popsicles. On 10 day I can have clear liquids only.

Driving After Surgery
daisychains7 replied to Treenie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not been banded myself yet so I can't speak from personal experience, but I wouldn't recommend that. You will still be on liquids or puréed foods at that point and it would be more difficult if you are staying out of town with family who doesn't know you were banded. I am going on vacation a month after my surgery and my surgeon said it is wise to wait at least 2-3 weeks after banding to travel. I don't know your exact situation though. It wouldn't hurt to talk to your surgeon and see what he advises. If you do go, have a great time -
Oh my goodness, that sounds so good. Then again... even eating my own arm sounds appetizing right now. LOL! Congrats on getting through 8 days. Any tips?
-
Thanks caramel. It's funny - The people close to me are excited for me. The people I've told who I am not as close with have negative things to say. Pay them no mind... They don't know our struggles with weight and what it has been like to live in our bodies. I have 9 days of liquids left too... I can't lie, it sucks.
-
Mdfinch - I think every doctor is different but mine says I can begin to have meat a month out from surgery. I have never wanted beef and chicken so bad in my life! Almost through the first day. We can do this!

Day 1 of liquids was going fine til about an hour ago. My mind and body feel weird. Can't explain this feeling. lol I also told my manager at work today I was getting banded in 10 days. She said it was too drastic and that she doesn't think I need it (she is the same size as me). Frustrating!
-
I am on day 1. It wasn't bad until I was at work for 4 hours not able to have a protein drink.. And passed a Wendy's on the street and got hit with the smell. I have this weird sensation in my head and body I can't explain. But I am surprised.. I'm definitely not starving like I expected.
-
Started my liquid diet today. So far it's going ok... But I am supposed to have 6-8 8oz servings a day and I've only had one so far. I have a feeling I am going to have to be drinking constantly to get it all in.

Is anyone else getting banded on the 8th?
-
Congrats Tanieya! I am getting banded the day after you. Keep us posted

Saggy/ Deflated Breast?
daisychains7 replied to jessicarage's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Our proportions sound pretty similar. I am 22, 5'9" and 290 pre band. They are pretty droopy already (F cup) and suspect I will need a lift after weight loss. -
Hi ladies! Welcome. I am glad I found the other May bandsters... I was starting to wonder where they were. 11 days left for me! This will be a physical and emotional transformation for all of us. I am glad to have you all to share these fears with. Let me tell you what is keeping me sane - the thought that no physical pain can be worse than the emotional pain I have gone through as a result of my weight. I also made a list of 25 reasons I need to do this/25 things I will finally be able to do! I suggest that to anyone. eyewonder - prayer has been a help to me as well. It has brought my anxiety down. Deb - ok you're makin me hungry. Oxtail, curry goat.... All the foods I will have to learn to eat less of or give up post-band. Are you Jamaican too?! Lol. And I'm glad you still have energy and don't feel as hungry.
-
How exciting! Hope you have a speedy approval. Please keep us posted.
-
To those of you who are on liquids, how is it going? Do you still have energy? I start tomorrow. My liquid diet overlaps with my grandpa coming into town and we Jamaicans love to eat so I know he's going to try to shove food down my throat! lol. I am determined though.

Hi everyone! It's nice that we are all starting this journey together and can support each other. I am getting banded on May 8th. Starting liquids on Saturday.
-
I am so excited for you both!! Congrats ladies!!
