    Just Starting The Process..

Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds like you are doing this for all the right reasons and having your background in athletics is such a plus. I'm sure you will rediscover that part of you very soon. I was banded 6 days ago and feel really good. You have nothing to fear.

    May Bandsters!

Just had my 1 week post op check up. She said everything looks normal and I got a more thorough diet plan for the next couple wks. I am eating yogurt right now - Yummy! Never thought I'd be so grateful to eat just simple Greek yogurt and soup.

    Down 110 Pounds!

    WOW! What an inspiration!
  6. When I hit 326 lbs at 22 years old I realized how much I had missed out because of my size. There is also a history of diabetes in my family and I wanted to avoid that.

    Were You Practicing???

I gave up pop 6 months before surgery, started trying my best to eat 3 meals a day (sounds basic, but i hadn't had breakfast daily since jr high), packing my lunch for work and cooking more. I also began exercising regularly. So nothing too drastic. A few days before my pre op liquid diet started I went crazy on steaks, fast food, pizza, candy etc. I was in panic mode... not the best decision haha. However I never cheated on the liquid diet and am sticking to the rules. I am 6 days post op now and so far so good.

    May Bandsters!

@Sandrie I think burping is normal. I've started to a little bit. @Litl1997 Congrats. How are you doing? Thats exciting. He will take care of you and take all the nerves away, trust me! To the hospital I wore a tshirt, sweatpants, hoodie and athletic shoes. Dress comfy and don't wear jewelry. No underwear during surgery.

    Going In For The Edg....

Oh good glad it went ok. I understand being stir crazy. Being on the pain meds I can't drive and get out of the house. I am doing well. My pain is very light now and I have more energy. Monday afternoon is my follow up visit.
  11. Sounds like you are doing great so far! Congrats.

One Year Post Op, No Results. Please Help

I'm sorry Lymarie. I am not judging... But It sounds like snacking and emotional/guilt eating play a big role in this and that is something the band itself cannot control. If you are eating to the point of vomiting then continuing to eat, that's dangerous. Have you told your Dr? Have you considered seeing someone like a counselor to help you understand the underlying reasons for this?

    May Bandsters!

Omg I know. These food commercials suck. I want flatbread, penne pasta, or chicken so bad. I miss cooking and chewing on a flavorful meal. I am definitely not gonna cheat, and look forwars to yogurt and creamy soups after monday. but today has been a little tough cuz I feel the liquids going right through me.

    May Bandsters!

@Tamg my throat hurt a little but no ear ache. It's normal to be hungry or feel like you can eat anything. Our bands are unfilled and there is no restriction yet. I'm still on clear liquids, but starting to get a little hungry. My surgeon said not to focus on losing weight yet, only healing. Still NOTHING compared to how ravenous I was on the pre op diet! We can do this!
  16. I don't think water would do any damage. Sounds like you are doing ok. I'm 5 days post op, trying my hardest to get fluids down too. If anything, I may be having too little, because I can't quickly down a water bottle anymore. The nurse told me 64oz a day is good amount. I'm aiming for 6-8oz in a sitting.
  17. Congrats to you! How exciting. I was banded on Tuesday and feeling pretty good. The post op diet has so far been much easier than pre op. Wish you a quick recovery.

    May Bandsters!

Surgery was Tuesday so I am 6 days post op now? Or is it 5? Lol. I feel pretty good today. Burping lots. Drinking doesn't bother my tummy as much and I can get up and down pretty easy. My sister is taking me to my follow up appt on Monday. All the 5/14 bandsters, you will do amazing! Take deep breaths, pray and remember you have nothing to be afraid of. @bbbanded lol, funny you say that... I'm not even sure where my port is! Did they give you that little IS breathing thing to help inhale deeply? It's a great feeling to be able to get up on your own with less pain. hope all goes well at work tomorrow. Take it easy. @minimoo747 Congrats!!
  19. I know everyone recovers differently but i am 6 days post op too and there is no way I could handle that. The first few days after surgery were hell and the last thing I wanted to do was be up and about. Too much motion makes you queasy. Even a seatbelt is a little painful. It's important to be in a quiet place and keep your stress down. Why don't you stay at a nice hotel with a view, close to a hospital for a couple days? You may find that more relaxing.

    Going In For The Edg....

    Yes, keep us posted Tammy
  21. I was banded on Tuesday and I'm going on a 5 day cruise 30 days after my surgery. Really not ideal but I had planned this trip a year ago. My band is unfilled. My surgeon and nutritionist said I will be on soft foods/normal foods by then. My concern is, i saw no healthy food on my last cruise. I've already decided I will not be drinking any alcohol on the cruise, and no grazing at the buffet. What foods will keep me full but are "safe" for a very new bandster? For the formal sit down dinners, is it ok to have Soup as an appetizer or will that leave no room for meat and veggies? Any tips are much appreciated.
  22. Thank you so much for the suggestions everyone! I love going on cruises and this has put my mind at ease. And yes, my surgeon said it is fine for me to go on the cruise four weeks out, as long as I don't try to overdo it, and chew well.
  23. I had and still have all the same fears. I think thats normal. But it comforted me to see people here say they can still eat those foods they love, just less of it. I didn't want to put off another year of my life saying I would lose the weight eventually, like I told myself every other year.
