Banned May 22 And In Pain
daisychains7 replied to cek31076's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This all sounds pretty normal to me. The first few days my stomach felt so gassy and bloated, I thought I'd explode. It will get better in a day or two. Also, make sure you are sipping on the liquids slowly. I find that warm liquids go down better than cold. Peppermint tea helped some of the gas to expel. -
Anyone Just Had Their Band This Month?
daisychains7 replied to nikkinikole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 5/8. Honestly I'm hungry all the time now. lol. It didnt start til a couple days ago... Now food only holds me probably 2 hours. Water doesn't curb my hunger. And since I switched to soft foods I've gained 7.5lbs. I have not cheated AT ALL so I don't understand. Cannot wait for my fill June 14... I'm going crazy. I'm glad it's not just me. -

My nutritionist doesn't recommend breads, rice or pasta at this time so I have not had any. Im surprised someone's doctor recommended muffins, but every doctor has different rules. Go with what your Dr says. To me, the band is a tool not a life sentence of deprivation. It needs to be something we can live w/ long term, and for me, to say I can "never" have pasta or bread i enjoy is unrealistic. It is about making those things a treat instead of a daily occurrence the way we used to. I am curious as to whether other people gained weight once they switched to soft foods? I had been rapidly losing since the pre op diet so kinda surprised. Trying not to get discouraged, continue followin the rules and do my best til my fill.

So I am a little frustrated. I was banded two weeks ago. Up until a few days ago I had little interest in food. Started soft foods a few days ago and now I am hungry all the time. I have Protein with every meal plus milk between meals and I am still starving. It's like I only stay satisfied for a couple hours. Also having mild headaches. Is there something wrong with me or this bandster hell everyone talks about? I just want to feel restriction and stop thinking about food all the time!
-
@rskegui Sounds like you are doing well. a good surgeon makes the process so much easier. Mine made me feel at ease right away too. Has anyone else gained weight since being banded? Since switching to soft foods a few days ago, I have gained 7.5 lbs. Crazy.
-
I am having 3 glasses of milk a day and water in between that, but I think I need to drink more. Gonna try that today. I got myself some crystal light.

I'll have to try the dinner in a bag. I've tried ground turkey, beef, and shredded chicken. So far so good. However, I weighed myself today and I have GAINED 7.5lbs. Really upset right now. I don't know how that's possible when I'm following the plan? I am just not weighing myself again til my fill on the 14th. I talked to my sister and she calmed me down. I lost 20 lbs on pre op liquids, and another 15 or so on post op liquids.. So I think it was bound to slow down especially when I switched to regular foods.

Ok here is what I ate today: Breakfast - 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/4 cup banana and strawberry lunch - 1/4 cup chicken, 1/4 cup cheesy broccolli snack - 1/2 cup yogurt dinner - 2/3 cup beef chili, 1/4 cup mango Snack - 8oz milk I will probably have another 8oz milk before bed I feel like I followed the plan today, yet I feel weak, depressed, and I am having headaches. NO energy to even go on walks. Nurse said I could take tylenol if I broke it up into pieces, thank goodness. How often are you guys eating? I think I am going to set a timer and literally eat every two hours. I just don't know how much I could have per sitting. I am supposed to get 70g Protein a day and I refuse to get that from the Protein Shakes which gave me the worst constipation of my life. Frustrated!

Congrats Christine! So today has been my first bad day. Constantly feeling hungry, dull headache that won't go away and just feel weak. It's weird... I get hungry every 1-2 hours but when I sit down to eat I have little desire. Or i get stuffed so fast i cant eat ENOUGH to sustain me so i get weak. Is this an emotional thing?! Just me? I don't feel energetic or like myself even tho every meal is mostly protein, plus 3 glasses of milk Inbetween. Is anyone else going through this? Maybe I need to be eating 4 or 5 meals a day. I talked to the nurse today who said constant hunger is normal til a full, but I'm feeling discouraged.
-
Ok the nurse called back. She said it is normal because they mess around w/ a lot of muscle during surgery and things tighten up. She suggested ice packs to bring the inflammation down.

Omg it's torture. I had the chicken and veggies.. Could only have 1/2cup before I felt satisfied. Now 2 hours later I'm hungry again. I've been sipping water almost nonstop today and it hasn't helped. Think I will have Greek yogurt. I thought maybe it was head hunger but I feel physically pretty week and a light Headache. I just want to feel like myself again and not obsess over food
-
Ok I will definitely let you know!

my Doctor said its okay for me to have at the soft foods stage. I shred it up and put an Italian dressing on it. Have had no problems getting it down.

Congrats on your weight loss so far ladies! That's awesome! I am really struggling today... I feel hungry all the time, and all I want to do is down a huge glass of juice :/ UGH!!! I am going to try shredded chicken breast and veggies for lunch and see if that satisfies me. I just don't get how im having sufficient Protein and am still hungry an hour or two later. Debbie - I just posted my 2 wk post op pics on my page. Wasn't sure if I wanted to have them public, so it is is set so that my friends can see them. Of course we would love to have you.

I am so excited for you to be banded and experience life on the other side of this. This is a wonderful new beginning! I know with your strength and positive attitude you will succeed. I was a complete mess the week leading up to my surgery. The night before I barely slept... I was in shock and still could not believe I was going to do it. It didn't hit me until I was in the prep area of the hospital, undressing and putting on my hospital gown and socks. I immediately prayed and an inner calm came over me. I saw a good quote the other day: "Let your faith be bigger than your fears." There will be challenges but its nothing you can't endure with God's help.

Omg, I was about to make the exact same post. I am two weeks post op and am starting to feel hungry all the time. I started soft foods a few days ago. I am having 3 meals (about 3/4 cup per meal) and 2-3 glasses of milk a day and still hungry. My meals are Protein rich but literally within 2 hours, starving again.. I think I am going to need to start having yogurt or a couple pieces of deli meat in addition, but I don't know if that's ok? It's driving me crazy! My first fill isn't for another few weeks.

Huuuuuge Day For Me!!! Just Had To Share!
daisychains7 replied to MCCLB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats!! Can't wait to get there. -
I would take a week off if possible.
-
Ok I'm so glad it's not just me. I was starting to worry. Driving and sitting down to eat are pretty uncomfortable. :/ called the Dr last night so I'm just waiting to hear back.

Lose_It, sounds like you are doing great. Are you having regular Gatorade or low cal? I have been really craving a glass of pineapple juice. I don't know if it's ok to treat myself to that yet or not. Well I went to a restaurant tonight. The server kept bugging me to have Water, and asked if I didn't like my food because I barely ate it. I had probably 10 spoonfuls of Soup (just the broth) and 2 pieces of shrimp. Honestly I was a little depressed I couldn't get what I wanted to, because I'm still on soft foods and trying to follow things strictly. its 11pm and I feel like I didn't eat enough at dinner time. My port area was hurtin me like crazy tonight.. Was sitting for two hours at a movie then dinner and it was like my tummy was being rubber with sandpaper inside. A burning feeling I've had every time I sit in my car. Is this normal? I am calling nurse tomorrow just to be sure. I haven't had any trouble getting food down so I don't think it's a flipped port, but I'm scared. I thought by two weeks post op there should be no pain?
-
So I'm two weeks post op and have had no issues except my port area is really bugging me. I sat for two hours at a movie and could barely focus because the tshirt over my tummy felt like sandpaper. When I sit it hurts.. Like a burning feeling.. Not the big incision but the skin around it. Has anyone else gone through this?? I am gonna call in tomorrow. Also my saliva is still very thick even though I am not overrating. Wth?

As a new bandster, this was just what I needed to hear. What a balanced and realistic approach. You're an inspiration!
