Just doing the best I can till my visit next month. I am anxious to see if I can lose a couple lbs or at least maintain. I think about food 24/7 these days and get hungry more often. How are you doing Teara? Struggling with head hunger today. I'm having a hard time with self control. Went 60 cal over my cal goal today but did exercise. Any tips for keeping my mind off food?? I am terrified of gaining or back sliding when I came this far. Going to my friend's Bridal shower tomorrow. Of course we are going to an amazing restaurant for it - ugh. Well my plan is to eat a very healthy breakfast and lunch, and do my couch to 5k before the bridal shower. I will probably just have a piece of cake and a couple bites off my friends plate, then eat a healthy dinner or snack at home. Try to get in lots of Water. Fast food and alcholic drinks??
daisychains7 replied to misscarrie36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fast food is a trigger for me so I really try to avoid it. Just thinking about McDonalds fries makes me wanna go of control. It is how I got myself to 300+ lbs. Of course it's not realistic to say just because you have the band you will never eat fast food again. If you badly want that milkshake or fries you can have a small amount if it - if you account for the calories/fat, and exercise. Otherwise I recommend a small salad with grilled chicken, Wendy's chili, or a chipotle chicken burrito bowl (that's 3 meals right there.. And you can skip the rice if you want). Another tip... I always keep food with me (yogurt, fruit, almonds, Protein bar) when i do errands, so I don't get to the point I'm starving and make an unhealthy choice. -
Small but huge NSV

Congrats, that is a great NSV! I struggle with the same thing so it's nice to know there's hope. Haha -
What are/were your goals?
daisychains7 replied to SaltLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My goals were to reach a healthy weight, ride a roller coaster, wear a bikini in public. I've done all of that now and it feels great. I am focusing less on losing weight and more on maintaining a balanced, realistic lifestyle now. My new goal is to figure the new "me" out. I was in a protective shell for a long time, stuck in a cycle of negative thinking. That doesn't go away just because you're thinner. So I'm working on my attitude and enjoying life, trying new things. I am doing a 5k in April and a mud run in August. I want to try surfing, zip lining, and horse backing riding this year. I'd also like to walk my dog daily (once it gets warm) and go to a waterpark. -
Those are the best ones! LOL. My sister makes fun of me because I have watched so many, I know the storylines by heart. It's the perfect tv for a rainy day though.

Just checking in. Had my doctors appointment today. I have not lost anything in the past month but I am maintaining 175 (which was about my goal weight) and exercising, so I can't complain. My doctor is happy. She may put a little Fluid in my band next month if we feel I need it. I have a familly dinner with my mom, her bf, and my sister tomorrow. Not sure what restaurant we are going to. Money is tight anyway so will probably just get a side salad and pick a little food off my moms plate - lol! Will make sure to workout in the afternoon so I don't have to feel guilty if I eat something not as healthy. This head hunger and sweet tooth is kickin my butt. Breakfast - 1c kashi cinnamon harvest Cereal with soy milk lunch - 2oz deli turkey and veggies on 1 arnolds sandwich thin, 3 baby carrots Dinner - 1 chicken leg, 1/4c mashed potatoes, 1/4c griled veggies Snacks - 1 Protein Bar w/ 1 nectarine, 6oz greek yogurt w/ 6 almonds Exercise - 30 min Couch to 5K

General Hospital is my weakness. But I also love Kardashians and Lifetime movies. Embarrassing. LOL

Wow. I really feel for you with your work situation. It is stressful and exhausting to have to be on guard at work when you should feel safe! This is so not okay. You should be able to privately report these men to HR. for all you know they are sexually harassing other women. It may just be verbal but I hate that they think they can get away with it. Hang in there and keep plugging away. Take it one meal and one healthy choice at a time. Are you exercising? Yes, I love travel more than almost anything!! But it has thrown me off my game too. I notice my sweet tooth is bad and I want a dessert every day. I crave unhealthy stuff constantly and I give in more than I should. I have gained 1lb but am doing great on exercise.. So not freaking out yet. Going to the doctor tomorrow and just gonna continue to track my food and cook my lean meat and veggies. I need to get strict again Couch to 5K going well. I start week 4 tomorrow. Breakfast - 6oz yogurt, 8 almonds lunch - 1/2c lean ground beef on roll, 3 carrots dinner - 1 baked chicken thigh, 1/4c potato, 1/4c steamed veggie Snacks - 1/2c grapes, 6oz yogurt, 1 skinny cow ice cream No exercise today. Back to the gym tomorrow.

just checking in. This week has been a little stressful between job hunting and then an identity theft attempt someone made on me late last week. Being unemployed is a frustrating feeling because I am doing everything in my power to find a job and NOTHING is going my way. However, I did get an offer from a neighbor yesterday. She would like me to care for her 90 year old mother a few days a week. Won't be much money but it will help. Yesterday was treat night. Had some Korean food and then apple pie & ice cream for dessert. I did get exercise in beforehand (Couch to 5k). I am starting Week 4 of Couch to 5k next week. Race in April. My eating hasn't been perfect but pretty good. And I have been really pushing myself with exercise. On Thursday I went to a kickboxing class - OMG toughest class I have ever done!! We had sparring, punching bags, 3 minutes straight of jump roping... I am still sore but so proud of myself for getting through the hour and keeping up with the muscular guys in the class. lol. Hope you had a good weekend.

anyone here did/is doing the couch to 5k program?
daisychains7 replied to Lapbandster's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Did Week 3, Day 1 this afternoon. I cannot believe I was able to run for 3 minutes straight (twice)! It was tough but I finished. Never would've been able to do that 150 lbs ago. I registered for a race in April, so there's no turning back now. Nervous. -
I exercise 5x a week. 2 of those days I do a 1 hour circuit of elliptical/weights. The other 3 days I do Couch to 5k for 30 minutes.
-
Inspiring!! You should definitely be proud of yourself.

The decision was hard for me initially because it is a huge commitment and I did not enter into it lightly. I was afraid to lose my unhealthy relationship with food. Life does change after the band, but for the most part we all live normal lives. We still enjoy food in a balanced way and stay physically active. I was afraid that being in my 20's I wouldn't be able to enjoy going out for happy hour with friends or social events. I still occasionally get anxiety surrounding that but I ALWAYS go in with a game plan. People definitely notice when you start dropping weight and when they see your unusual eating habits. I have gotten a couple insensitive judgmental comments but not many. There are certain people I don't tell I have the band because I don't feel comfortable. Never feel you OWE anyone an explanation - your body and your health is personal. The only people i care about, who love me, and know my struggle with weight support my decision. Please don't let other people's opinions dissuade you. The surgery was more painful than I expected, but pain medication is a wonderful thing. Recovery is quick, and in 6-8 weeks you're ready to start working your band It has been a blessing in my life. Now I can enjoy my 20s to the fullest. Do as much research as you can. Examine the pros and cons. But once you make the commitment, embrace the changes because you will get only as much as you put into it. Sorry I rambled but hopefully that answered your questions.

Every doctor has different opinions on that. One drink occasionally should be fine. Account for the calories by eating lighter throughout the day or getting extra exercise. Be mindful it will affect you more post weight loss. I actually had not had alcohol at all after my surgery, until I was in Brazil last week and tried a caipirinha. Life is for living!

Had a fun trip. Now I'm getting back on track and hitting the gym this afternoon. Happy Monday!

Hi Teara! I've been in Brazil for the past week visiting family, but got back home today. I ate a little of everything and really enjoyed the Brazilian food (a bit too much, probably) but tomorrow is a new week and I am getting back on track! I won't quit posting here and it is good to see you around again. How is your father in law doing now? It is amazing how people's perception of us (especially men) changes so much post weight loss, even though we are the same person on the inside! It makes me frustrated sometimes. Your manager is crossing a line and DO NOT be afraid to talk to HR. Sexual harassment is never okay, even if its just comments!! Your husband sounds like a wonderful man who saw what a beauty you were both before AND after.. loves you for who you are.. you are very blessed and i know you'll be fine Proud of your 20lbs lost!!! WOOHOO!!! Will be back to posting my food and exercise tomorrow

Leaving tonight for Brazil vacation! Plan it attack: tracking, 3 days of Couch to 5k in hotel gym, and treating myself a little every day. Staying balanced.
