    May Bandsters!

I am doing well too. Just trying to adjust to my new normal, and not slip into my old ways. I am getting back into an exercise routine finally. I agree... I'd rather be under filled than too tight. I only have 1cc but I notice if I space my meals out right and have 1 healthy snack a day, hunger isn't as big of an issue anymore.

    Hired A Personal Trainer

Lazy?!? No way! I have had a trainer for about 7 months now. I have known her for a few years, and gave her a call as soon as I decided to get the band. I knew I needed help getting into a routine, and that extra motivation. She's been one of my biggest emotional supports.

    Favorite Exercise? :)

Belly dance, Zumba, and elliptical are my favorites right now. As far as sports, I like tennis and volleyball but have a hard time finding anyone to play with. Went to the driving range this week and that was fun. Surprisingly good work out for a big girl. lol!

Whats The Workout To Loose Weight Faster?

I've heard Interval Training is the best for burning fat. I haven't personally tried it, but a lot of people swear by it. If you're doing 30 minutes of cardio, why not go up to 45 minutes? Or break that 30 minutes up.. 10 on treadmill, 10 elliptical, 10 exercise bike? Make it fun and sign up for dance class, swimming, kickboxing, tennis lessons, etc. You've got to trick your body by using different muscles, switching it up and going higher intensity.

    Im Back

Joe, you are an inspiration. I too have fought my weight "demons" for a long time and the hardest thing is to get back up after you fall. Be happy for every small victory, and every single lb lost. I have no doubt you will reach your goals!

Hi Dollgirl! Great to have you. I was banded 5/8, already feeling healthier. No regrets.

It really does help to have people who are going through the same struggles and successes. Welcome!
  9. Welcome! Happy to have you here. Im a big basketball and KD fan... Sad your OKC thunder didn't win it this year! Hopefully next year. Anyway wish you all the best on your journey.
  10. I've only lost 16 lbs since my surgery but I have lost 70lbs total since starting the process. Needless to say NOTHING fits. It seems like a good problem, but it's been kinda frustrating, and expensive. Any ideas?

    Ugh!!! Terrible Appointment Today!!

The bariatrician I had at my very first appointment was the rudest woman I've ever met in my life. She basically told me I would fail because I was 22, said I "already thought I knew everything", and that I would need to "prove myself" to her. The ironic thing is... she was FAT!!! LOL. Do your research, weigh the options, and don't let that person's comments get to you.

    Accountability

Didn't eat enough Protein today. Did good on exercise though. Breakfast - Mint tea lunch - 6oz chili, 2 crackers dinner - 6oz Greek yogurt, 2oz peach snack - 8oz milk Exercise - 20 min bike, 20 min treadmill (fast walk)
  14. You're going to be doing just as much work as people who do it the "natural way". you'll be working out regularly and eating healthy. The band will just be an extra tool in your back pocket. Maybe your husband is afraid once you will change or that he'll get left behind. Is there a way you could include him in this lifestyle change? Exercising together, cooking together, bringing him on the appointments so he gets more info? I hope he comes around and I applaud you for doing what's necessary for your health.

    Fills.....

Thats awesome. You described it perfectly! Honestly, I dreaded fills more than I dreaded the pain of surgery. I am terrified of needles but the fill didn't hurt. It definitely felt weird, and uncomfortable, but not painful. I could feel the fluid going into my band. I had to be on liquids for 2 days post fill, had a teeny bit of soreness at the port. Overall, no big deal. How big is your band Manda? I have 1cc in an 8cc band. She originally put 3cc in but took 2cc out because she said (after I sipped water) that I was too full. I am comfortable with my 1cc so far. No trouble getting things down but I am careful to eat slower and chew more. I stay full a little bit longer than before. I have lost 16lbs since my surgery and the doctor was thrilled with that.

What Does Full Feel Like To You?

Measuring is a huge help to me as well. I rarely EVER go beyond 3/4cup per meal. My doctor says I can have 3/4-1 cup. Since my fill, I get that "stuffed" feeling a little quicker and am not pushing it.

    Food Addiction But Still Sucessful?

I was a fast food addict too. I've saved a lot of money so far by cooking the majority of my meals. When I go out, I look and the menu ahead of time and eat healthy (fish/chicken/veggies) but have also allowed myself a couple bites of dessert or a glass of juice here or there. Not sure when i will be able to handle eating my former favorite foods. I'm trying rewire my brain and not think of treating myself as "cheating" or "failure" cuz that just makes me want to eat MORE. so for me.. That's where it starts.

    Accountability

I need to work on scheduling my meals better. By nature, I'm not a structured person so I'm learning this as I go. Today I has breakfast at 11am, lunch at 4pm and then wasn't hungry for dinner til 10pm. Tomorrow I need to do better at that. I've noticed since my fill, I've had chest aches that kind of hurt.. Idk if that's how hunger pains will feel from now on, or if I need to take small bites, but it sucks. Breakfast - 6oz yogurt Lunch - 3/4 toasted wheat pita with 1 tbsp crunchy Peanut Butter, 1/4cup yogurt with tsp Protein powder Dinner - 1/2 cup beef chili, 2 crackers, diced peaches Exercise - 30 min elliptical

    Early Period Adter Surgery?

Mine was a week late the month after surgery.
  23. At this point it's about sheer willpower. You can and you will do this! I'll be honest, day 4 and 5 was the worst (I had to do a 10 day)... But it does get easier once you are only a couple days from surgery. Needless to say watched A LOT of sports and Espn to distract myself. lol! Cry, allow yourself to get frustrated, call the doctor if you need suggestions. Drink water constantly so you're hydrated. Exercise if you have enough energy to, make a list of your motivators, clean your house, look at clothes from non plus size stores online.
