    Accountability

Thanks so much Breakfast - 5oz yogurt lunch - 1/4 turkey wrap with light ranch, 1 piece of strawberry, 1/2 pickle spear dinner - 1/2 of a chicken taco snack - 10oz mango raspberry smoothie from Ben & Jerrys. I asked for half size so it was only 125 cals vs 250. Was my treat of the week. Lots of Water Walked for a couple hours Today I had a NSV. I went to a THEME Park!!! First time in probably 4 years, and better yet I was able to fit on every single ride. I was careful not to go on rides that put pressure on my port area. I am so happy. Will make a post about this with pictures tomorrow. Thank you all for the encouragement and I hope you all had good weekends
  2. Hard to believe I was banded 2 months ago today. Though it's still hard some days, I am so glad I did this.

    Post Op

  4. I am just curious if I'm the only one who does this? I eat 3 mostly Protein meals a day (3/4cup-1cup), plus 1 or 2 glasses of skim milk a day (my doctor's recommendation). Lately I STILL have to have 1 high protein snack a couple hours after dinner just to reach my 70g protein goal. i know as bandsters we are supposed to be very aware of our hunger and not eat just for the sake of it, but I need to have a snack in the evening to get enough protein in (protein shakes make me ill so I go for greek yogurt), and then I feel guilty. Am I crazy? lol

Where is everyone?? I turned 23 today.. July 7. All things considered I think I did ok except I overdid my portion at lunch. I need to be really careful. I can't do more than 3/4c. Breakfast - 6oz mango greek yogurt Lunch - 1 mini pita pizza (1/4c ground turkey, fat free cheese and red pepper topping), 1/4c mango. I was STUFFED after eating this, which is weird cuz I could eat that portion no problem a couple weeks ago (and that was AFTER my fill). Never again! dinner - 1/3 whole wheat wrap from Jason's deli (turkey, tomato, mixed greens, light ranch). 1/4 pickle spear and 1 strawberry. Lots of Water Exercise - 30 min mall walking
  6. Ok thank you for the input ladies. I do have some protein powder but rarely use it... Guess I'll start by putting a little in my breakfast. I never overdo it with my portions especially with my protein snack, but I don't wanna get in the habit of eating mindlessly, so I gotta get myself in check. I am also going to discuss this with the doctor at my next fill. I guess I'd rather be under my protein goal than eating when I'm not hungry..

    Last Supper B4 Pre-Op Diet?

I spent the last couple weeks before my pre-op diet eating my way through town. Literally. Pizza, burgers, pancakes, french fries, burritos, etc. I don't recommend it, because personally I think it made the mental cravings worse. But my last supper was lemonade, chicken wings, steak with mashed potatoes, and a brownie with ice cream.

    May Bandsters!

LOL, being on liquids again gave me flashbacks of the dreaded pre op diet. Hang in there!
  10. I went on a cruise a month after my surgery. Like above posters said, remember water and walk as much as you can. Since you have no restriction you should be fine, but don't try anything new on the cruise just in case you get sick. That was my biggest fear. For breakfast I stuck to yogurt, eggs, and banana. The buffet usually has some healthy options like fruit, deli meats, and fish. the hardest thing for me on the cruise was avoiding all the fruity cocktails! My weakness. lol

    Emotional

Your post reminds me of my own pre op diet. I remember going to the mall on day 4 of liquids. I became so overcome with emotion I had to run out to my car. I just kept sobbing and repeating "I'm so hungry". LOL. Now I am 2 months post op and I see how much power food had/has over me. Every day it gets a little easier.

    Have You Gone Back???

I have gone to several restaurants with family (I just order grilled chicken, fish, veggies) but I don't think I can go to my favorite restaurants yet. Emotionally, it's still hard for me and I'm scared of my triggers. I have avoided all fast food spots except for Wendy's where I only get a small chili.

    My Story

Thanks for sharing Cortney. It takes a lot of strength to get back up after you fall. I'm sure everything you learned will help you be a success.

    Alone

It sounds like your bf is very misinformed. Take him to a seminar and on your doctor's appointments. I had a couple people tell me this was the "easy way out" too. They have no idea. There isnt a moment in the day i dont have to say "no" to myself and resist temptation. I have to force myself to get up and exercise. I am sure many of us would say this is the most difficult thing we have ever done. At the end of the day you have to do what is best for you, so that you can be around for your family. I know I could not have gone through this process without positive people in my corner. Hopefully your bf will come around, because you will need the support.

    Fill Amount Question

Hmm. That's kind of odd to me, because fills aren't "one size fits all". I have an 8cc band. My doctor put 3ccs in at first, but then it was too tight after I tried drinking water so I just have 1cc in. I am more comfortable going gradually so I can adjust my eating accordingly. I have noticed some people on here go faster though.

100 Degree Temp Outside, Have Me In Such A Rut!

I agree with adorkbl. It's self defeating to focus on what you DIDN'T do. Something is better than nothing. I am actually in the same boat since its literally been 95+ here for almost a week straight. I know I should be pushing it harder than I have been. I did go swimming instead of elliptical yesterday which felt SO GOOD! Is there any way you could take your kids swimming? How about mall walking in the air conditioning? Don't give up!
  20. I told myself if I couldn't lose a certain amount of weight in a year, I'd seriously consider the surgery. When I inevitably failed AND clocked in at my highest ever, 326lbs I realized I couldn't do this without some sort of help. I weighed the pros and cons. But really my problem has never been losing weight, it's keeping it off. I am happy with my decision and feel so much healthier already.

    Banded May 29, 2012

I was banded 5/8. It sounds like you're making amazing progress! Be proud of yourself. i am not weighing myself. I get my weight at the monthly fill appointment. I'm focusing on food choices and listening to my body. So far no problems and am happy with my progress.

    3 Months Into This Journey

How inspirational! Soo happy you are having success and finding what works for you. I was banded on 5/8 and had my first fill the same day as you.

    Emotional

Don't worry, you're normal. It's scary learning how to live without food as an emotional crutch. I was a mess right before and after surgery. I cried, but mostly I was frustrated, depressed and irritable over every little thing. All I could think about was what I was giving up by living the bandster lifestyle. Finally, about 2 months out I am starting to feel like myself again. I still have rough days but its a lot better. I pray, ask friends for help, and exercise when I feel bad.
