  1. Try not to freak out. Things may be up and down for a while. Really 2 lbs is not much... Within a day it's normal to fluctuate between Water retention or eating too much sodium. What kind of foods are you eating? I gained 8 lbs when I went from post op liquids to mushy foods. I was NOT happy considering I had followed my doctors orders exactly. But things stabilized a few weeks after that. There's no point torturing yourself with the scale those first couple months.

Wow a remodel... I can only imagine how busy you are! But as long as you are sticking to the fundamentals, even if it's not the most complicated meal thats fine. I am single and sometimes to cook a full fledged meal only to eat 1 cup doesn't feel worth it, so I'll just make an easy wrap, half sandwich, etc Breakfast - 6oz yogurt lunch - 1/2 Arnold's sandwich thin, 1/3c Tuna with light mayo and sliced apples, 2/3 sm banana dinner - 6oz chili with cheese, 3 saltines snack - tea, 6oz vanilla Chobani with sliced strawberries and 1/8c granola in it. Yum

Pre-Op Diet And I'm So Hungry!

For me, the pre op and post op liquids were the hardest part of this process by far! I was constantly irritated, anxious, hungry or crying. LOL. What you are going through is normal. You may want to stay away from people at meal time. Go for walks, look at skinny clothes online, journal. Remind yourself it's only temporary, and soon you will on the road to meeting all your goals. If you have the self control to do this, you can do anything!

    Pics Of Oversized Clothes

OMG! You look awesome! I recently donated 4 trash bags worth of my "fat clothes"... It was kind of cleansing knowing I will never wear them again. I did keep my jeans from my heaviest weight and do the cheesy weight loss pose in the mirror. LOL

Thanks! How was your support group? I wish we all lived near each other and could make our own! :-P Mine was ok. I am only 23 and i swear most of the people are there are 30 years older than me.. Which is fine... But it would be nice to have the younger perspective too. And some of the really elderly women dominate the convo to the point you can barely get a word in. LOL! Anyways - The theme was body image. I hate that i have always struggled with very low self esteem. I didn't really learn a lot from it but it was nice to be surrounded by WLS patients who understand the lifestyle and expressed some of the feelings I have. I am going to therapy tomorrow night too. Funny how we think losing weight will automatically fix all our issues, lol.. I still have A LOT to work through. Breakfast - 6oz yogurt lunch - Tuna w/ apple slices and light mayo, on 3/4 Arnold's sandwich thin. 2 strawberries dinner - 1 mini wheat flax pita, 2tbsp PB, 1/2 small banana snack - 6oz vanilla Greek yogurt, fruit slices Liquids - Water, 8oz Gatorade Exercise - walked dog 30 mins, 30 mins elliptical The area where I have my largest incision has been aching most of the day. I did do some sit ups so maybe that's why.

Going To Hawaii In 4 Wks

I have flown a couple times this summer with Fluid in my band. I had no problems whatsoever. I've heard of some people drinking hot tea or Water after they get off the plane and before they eat something just to be careful. Have a fun trip and happy anniversary!! Always wanted to go to Hawaii... Looks beautiful.
  7. You know, I figured the current gf was overweight. There's always an underlying reason people are threatened by our success. Pray for her, move on, and focus on you.

whymomwhy - When you say drink do you mean alcoholic? Did you find it affected you a lot more now that you're a bandster? my doctor recommends no alcohol the first year but says I can on special occasions. Going to a cocktail party in September and would like a few sips. Navigating parties is so hard now! I think social occasions were my biggest downfall in eating and not taking care of myself pre band... I'd go to potlucks and hit that buffet 2 or 3 times, try every single dessert and have a few cans of pop to wash it down. Anyway, thank you for the motivation!! I am going to support group on Weds and therapy on Thurs, and just trying to be more busy. Breakfast - 6oz mango yogurt dinner - 1 sm wheat tortilla, 1/2 turkey italian sausage, 1 tbsp mozzarella, 2 tbsp tomato sauce snack - 8oz milk Was feeling really sick today (Worst cramps i have ever had) and slept through lunch completely. Tomorrow back on track.

Breakfast - 5oz yogurt snack - 8oz skim milk lunch - 1 skinless chicken leg, 2oz Pasta dinner - 3/4 boca chicken burger, 3/4 Arnold's sandwich thin, 1 tbsp ketchup, 2oz oranges Snack - 6oz Greek yogurt, tea Exercise - 30 min walk with dog

Jennifer, down 2.4 in 1 week is awesome!! Yay! And I'm sure now that you have more restriction you'll be losing at a good rate again. I tried Couch to 5K last week and it was tough for me, but I've started walking and slow jogging. I think I could've done better today with the parties I went to today. I did track my food and stayed within my calorie goal but I still feel disgusted with myself :/ I didn't even exercise today. But tomorrow I am going to exercise and eat very clean so, tomorrow is a new day ! Breakfast - 1/2 pack oatmeal, 1/3c skim milk, 2 strawberries lunch - 3oz shrimp cocktail, 1oz raw salmon dinner - 3/4c beef lasagna, 1 tbsp coleslaw Dessert - 1/3c carrot cake snack (at party) - 3 tortilla chips with 1 tbsp spinach artichoke dip, 1 strawberry, 1/4 slice chicken pizza

    Couch To 5K?

Alright... I tried it a few times on a treadmill using the app. I was DYING by 10 minutes in. :/ it wasn't so much being out of breath but it felt like my entire body was being jostled inside and my abdomen started hurting. But... Walked my dog the past 2 days and attempted to mix slow jogging in with walking and found it way better. I will walk a block, jog half block or til I can't go on, and repeat. Made it 30 mins. I guess that's progress? Will revisit the program in the future.

Hi Jennifer. How did the weigh in go? Have you tried doing more or different exercises? 28lbs is awesome! Breakfast - 6oz yogurt with sliced strawberries lunch - 4oz Pork loin, 4oz peach fruit cup dinner - 2oz granola, 6oz Greek yogurt snack - 8oz skim milk Exercise - 30 min walk/jog with dog I was wayyy low on calories today. Just didn't feel like eating much. Met up with friends at karaoke bar for happy hour at 10.. Tons of food and alcohol around me but I just had Water. I was hungry and more food to up my cals for the day probably would've been a good thing, but I just didn't want to slip up :/ I am going to 2 parties tomorrow and know I will be eating unhealthy food this weekend so I'm trying to be balanced.

    Zumba

Omg, I definitely want to try it! Need to find an Aqua class near me. I went to Zumba for the first time in a couple months. Definitely fallen in love with it again and want to go twice a week. The instructor was different and I like her sooo much better. She has more energy and better music.

    Best Dvds??

I don't like doing DVDs as much as I used to. My living room has a weird layout and doesn't give me much room to exercise in. But anyway, I had a major Jillian Michaels 30 Day shred phase. Also like Billy Blanks Jr Groove and Burn, Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds (all her videos are great, especially for beginners), and The Bollywood Dance Workout with Hemalayaa.

    Whats On Your Playlist???

I have been trying to incorporate walking and jogging into my workout. I like reggae, hip hop, pop, dance... Current faves: What a Feeling - Alex Guadino ft. Kelly Rowland Gimme Gimme Gimme - Beenie Man P.Y.T. - Michael Jackson Ima Boss - Meek Mill ft. Rick Ross Faded - SoulDecision The Motto - Drake ft. Lil Wayne End of Time - Beyonce Starships - Nicki Minaj Million Dollar Bill - Whitney Houston Glad You Came - The Wanted Survivor - Destiny's Child Part of Me - Katy Perry Do It Like You - Diggy My Prerogative - Bobby Brown And it's cliche but you gotta have Eminem. LOL. "Lose Yourself" and "Till I Collapse" are oldies but goodies.
  17. I think my insurance required it. But I am also wondering if an overnight stay is standard for band patients at the hospital I had my surgery at. I talked to my surgeon a couple weeks before surgery and he put "overnight stay" on my chart. Personally I am so glad. It was my first surgery ever, and it was nice to have professionals taking care of me. Haha! Jellyfish, so glad it went well. Welcome to the banded side!

Lose_It, your dinner sounds sooo yummy! Mmm. Thanks for the encouragement, I really needed that little kick in the rear to get my act together. I've still been eating and exercising really well but I hate this funk. So I did give my therapist a call this am to set something up and asked a family member for help. It's not good for me to be in my head too much. I just went for a 30 min walk/jog with my dog and that made me feel a bit better too.

I have been feeling pretty depressed today. I didn't get out of bed til noon, basically sat on the couch all day with shades drawn. Im feeling very overwhelmed with all the changes going on in my life.. I am also unemployed now and need motivation to Job hunt and get a routine back. My depression usually gets bad as the seasons change (fall/winter) so I don't know what's up with this. I'm still keeping my emotional eating at bay and I did make sure to go to Zumba class this evening to get out of the house. But I just feel hopeless sometimes. Has anyone dealt with this? Maybe I should make an appt with my therapist. I'd been feeling so great since my surgery, I haven't seen her in a few months. Breakfast - 6oz yogurt lunch - 4oz pulled pork, 1/2 sm banana snack - skim milk dinner - 2/3 of chicken Thai noodles lean cuisine, 2 strawberries Snack - tea, may also have 6oz greek yogurt in hour or two to reach Protein goal Exercise - 1 hour Zumba class
  21. You'll be so out of it, you won't use half the stuff you bring. Lol. I stayed overnight and was sleeping most of the time. Bring Chapstick, underwear, flip flops, sweatpants and a baggy tshirt.

When Do You Start Losing Weight?

I Agee with with above responses. For me personally, exercise is non negotiable if I expect to lose weight. If you're exercising 5 days a week and still not losing, increase the intensity.

    May Bandsters!

Angela, did the Dr have you drink water in her office after the fill? If not, that's pretty irresponsible on their part. I'm sorry you had to go through that ordeal. My doctor recommends just 3 meals a day, 2-3 glasses of milk, and 1 snack if needed.

The best thing so far is that I have way more energy now! I'm more willing to try new things and be active.

    Loose Skin In Your 20's!

I still worry about this. I am 23 too, and have lost about 90. 70ish til i hit my goal. I've noticed loose skin on my arms, and my boobs sag more by the day. lol But my thighs have always been where I've carried the majority of my weight. They have barely gone down in size. They're riddled with cellulite, and very jiggly. I can only imagine how much worse they're going to look when the fat is gone and it's just skin. :/ I exercise 5x a week so hopefully that will help. But surgery may be needed.
