Yay! so happy for you. My doctor said my numbers are unheard of... lol! That I am a lap band "poster child" and that she's proud of me. It makes me feel good about what I'm doing. Tho today my attitude has sucked... Ran around all day, got home at 10 too tired to work out (I HATE making excuses for myself but today I did).. This was after I had my treat dinner which I planned for. I feel like a fat lazy blob and a failure. I have got to get it together tomorrow and I don't care how tired I feel at the end of the day. why doesn't life slow down for a minute?!? Breakfast - 6oz yogurt lunch - 1/4c fruit, 1/2c beef chili snack - 8oz skim milk Dinner - 6 tortilla chips, 1/4c shredded chicken, 1/4c Mexican rice, 1/2 taquito with salsa Dessert - 1/2 piece white cake Water No exercise

Congrats to both of you on your success!!! YAY! 77lbs makes a huge difference physically and emotionally. I too feel like I am having to buy a new wardrobe every month. Lots of consignment store, old navy, and target clearance for me. I still deal with head hunger every day and have to be strict with myself. However, when I stay on top of my exercise, I do allow myself a little treat once or twice a week. Keeps my cravings down and I am still losing. Exercise is equally important to my weight loss as nutrition is. I am down 111lb since I began the 6 month pre op diet. I feel like a whole new person. My next goal is to get under 200. I went in for a fill appt today but since I am in the green zone, they didn't put any Fluid in. I have been losing about 13lbs per month but they said expect it to slow down the smaller I get... 4-8lbs per month is average. Keep up the great work everyone!

Personally, I'm glad I was required to stay overnight after my surgery. I could not imagine going home only a few hours after surgery, considering the pain and nausea I experienced that first day. It put my mind, and my family's minds at ease knowing I was being taken care of by professionals. There is no wrong decision though.

Wow, that's awesome that you can go on this bandster journey together. I am very happy for you both!

I had the same struggle. I did not feel up to exercising for a few weeks, but I did force myself to walk a little every day. I think I was still trying to wrap my head around all the changes I had to make with the bandster lifestyle. A "break up" with food is not easy! The first 6 weeks is the time for your body to heal. Your focus needs to be on taking care of yourself both physically and emotionally, not losing weight yet (which WILL come in the near future ). Follow your doctor's instructors, get your fluids in, and move a little every day. Even if it's only 15 minutes.

Why Do People Think Lap Band Is The "easy" Way!?
daisychains7 replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Simply put: because they're ignorant. We all made the choice to better our lives and our health. We all went through a painful surgery. Every single day we battle emotional issues, sweat it out at the gym, and resist temptations in a very food obsessed world. We have worked our butts off (literally)! No way did we take the "easy way out" and anyone who says otherwise can shove it. -

Losing seems to have slowed down. Not happy about it but viewing it as just a bump in the road. Stepping up my exercise routine.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, Jen! You must be very overwhelmed at the moment. I can understand, as we had a heart attack scare with my grandmother last weekend. Wow, it has been a long time since any of us posted here. Hope all my fellow May bandsters are adjusting to life with their bands and continuing to work hard. Every day presents new challenges, but the important thing is that we keep trying.

Yes, I am very fortunate to have her. Since my surgery I have seen people's true colors, and who will support me no matter what.

This thread reminds me of one of my closest friends. I have known her about 5 years and we both struggle with weight. However, she has been nothing but supportive since I got my band. She tells me my weight loss inspires her to make changes in her own lifestyle. She said to me "I would not care if you were 100 or 500 pounds. You were always beautiful. I am happy for your weight loss because I know how bad YOU have wanted this. This is the version of you I have always seen". That is a true friend. Now, some friends may make discouraging comments to us as we lose weight, but they are not trying to be hurtful. But If there are people in your life who INTENTIONALLY are negative about your weight loss, cut them loose. Life is too short! *gets off soapbox* LOL

I was going to suggest tuna with light mayo and chopped up apples in it. Very yummy on a piece of wheat toast. vanilla Greek yogurt with sliced strawberries, peach or banana in it. Tortilla or pita "pizza". Top it with tomato sauce, sliced onion or other veggies plus cooked ground turkey. You can put light mozzarella on top but I usually skip the cheese. Throw in oven on 375 for 10 mins and you're good to go. I make a few a week and save for quick lunches or dinner. Scrambled egg beaters with black Beans and salsa on top. You can put it in a small wheat tortilla. Crunchy Peanut Butter on a wheat flax pita. You can put sliced banana on top if you want. I recommend Joseph's. Healthiest pitas/tortilla brand I can find. As you can tell its a staple for me. LOL

I actually got that for the first time last week. I was pretty surprised. I think my friends are so used to seeing me morbidly obese, that's the version of me they are comfortable with even if it's not healthly. I still have 50 lbs to go til a healthy BMI so i don't plan on stopping! It's not about looks... It's about health. Lose the amount of weight you need to to reach a healthy range for your height.
