Constant Bad Taste In My Mouth
daisychains7 replied to daisychains7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It sucks. I haven't had it in a week or so. It comes and goes. My PA said I am in "ketosis". She said acid reflux is another possibility though (I doubt that's what it is, personally). -
Has anyone else experienced this? What makes it go away? I have had a very sour, metallic taste in my mouth for two days straight. it goes away for an hour after I eat, then comes back. It is especially bad after eating dairy. I have had this a few times since surgery but never constant like this. My doctor said a metallic taste is normal after rapid weight loss (I am down about 125lbs in a year) and its driving me nuts.

Congrats on 88lbs! Why not sign up for a class? Something fun like dance or kickboxing. Sometimes we need that accountability to give us an extra push. Clean out that fridge, go grocery shopping with a healthy meal plan, and start fresh!

Worried That I Will Never See The Difference
daisychains7 replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you kidding? You look AWESOME!!! Your face, tummy, and shoulders look narrower too. It's only going to get better and better. I recommend buying fitted clothes in your new size. You will be able to see the changes in your figure more. Trust me, the compliments will flood in. For me, having clothes that fit my body in the right way is a self esteem boost. -
Its Time For Progress Pictures.. Come On Guys Post Em!!

You all look AMAZING. So motivating to see your success. June 2012 November 2012 Began to change my life September 30 2011, banded May 8 2012. Down 130lbs. -
My doctor made some great suggestions at my last appointment. She said for holidays or parties, walk through the buffet and rate each dish from 1-10 (1 being something you don't care for, 10 being favorite food, gotta have it). Only eat the 9's and 10's. The other stuff just isn't worth your valuable tummy space. Always make sure to get a workout in beforehand. Yesterday is in the past. Let it go, and start fresh tomorrow!

I agree with FLORIDAYS. Obviously there has to be a balance, but if you deprive yourself of every craving you have, when you do eat those foods you are going to be more likely to overdo it. I now enjoying finding healthier versions of old favorites. My periods are definitely different post band. My cramps are WAY worse, and that first day I get dizzy and light headed. My band is also very tight the first couple days of my period. Maybe I'm just weird. Haha How about chewing gum, or drinking tea?

Will It Ever Feel Normal.
daisychains7 replied to lovely29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gas and yucky post surgery feeling will go away. But I think I will always be aware I have the band in me. The more weight I lose, the more I feel the port and that does give me occasional discomfort. Totally worth it for the benefits though. -

I Wish I Could Say Holy Crap!!!
daisychains7 replied to lovinjacobe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is very common. After a trip to the ER and the hours of complete hell, I learned my lesson - ha! If its been a week, have miralax or colace. Drink water and mint tea nonstop. More fruits and veggies. And I recently discovered Questbars. It's a low fat, low cal, all natural protein bar which is VERY high in fiber. I've noticed since I started eating them, I am pretty regular again. -
How Long Should I Take Off Of Work?

A week. I didn't feel "normal" til 2 or 3 weeks out, but by a week you're functional. -
Anticipation = Overeating = Depressed
daisychains7 replied to dreamers's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi dreamers! First of all, take a deep breath. I had a lot of worries going into this too, knowing I wanted to make the change but not believing that I could after so many years of unhealthy habits. Congratulations for quitting smoking -- you have just added YEARS to your life! Many of us went into panic mode that week before starting the pre op diet. I hit all of my favorite restaurants and drive thru's. You know that you are only sabotaging yourself, so it is essential to reach out for help. What does your doctor say about the 30lb weight gain? Are you required to see a nutritionist or therapist? Please set up an appointment ASAP so they can help you get to the root of this. As far as practical suggestions -- how is your exercise? You have not been banded yet but the earlier you start, the better. Even just 15 minutes. Have you considered a personal trainer for motivation and accountability? If hubby is willing to work out with you, even better. Figure out your trigger foods because frankly those will have to go for the next few months. DO NOT have any unhealthy foods in your house, period. Pack your lunches for work. It is not worth damaging your chances of having the surgery, and later damaging your band. How would you feel knowing you threw away this life changing opportunity just for the temporary satisfaction of junk food? You deserve better. -
Eek. Are you vomiting a lot? Make a doctors appointment just to be safe. You definitely need to be having at least 48oz of fluid so you don't get dehydrated. Have water, tea, apple juice (motts for kids is good, and low sugar), soup, chili or whatever you can keep down. I hope it passes soon.

Got Measured@victorias Secret For New Bras, The Extra Skin Is A Problem!
daisychains7 replied to show1980's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been having the same issue. I went from a 44F to a 36DD and have A LOT of sag/loose skin. The VS Demi bra does work pretty well for me if I adjust the straps. Never thought I'd be able to shop there... They have so much cute stuff! But for more practical, full coverage bras I recommend Soma Intimates. They do way better fittings than VS and seem to have more training. I went in there, told them I'd lost over 100lbs and what my issues were. Left with a good every day bra. -

Hi everyone! Have a great holiday, remember to treat yourself to the foods you really love, and skip the ones you don't. And of course stick to our bandster portions. I went in for my monthly check up today. No fill needed.. still in the green zone and down 8 lbs since last month. My doctor is very happy with my progress. However, she thinks I may have acid reflux due to the severe metallic taste I've been having in my mouth. For now she wants me to just watch it and take tums. If it continues we will try prilosec. Today was my last day at my job so.. back to being unemployed. pretty bummed. Breakfast - 5oz yogurt, 6 almonds lunch - 1/2 Protein bar, 5oz yogurt, 1tbsp blueberries dinner - 1 lamb kebab, 1/3c salad, 5 pita chips, 1 tbsp hummus snack - 5oz yogurt, 2 strawberries, 8 almonds liquids - Water, tea exercise - 30 min wii free step, while holding free weights lots of yogurt today, hah
