I Hate It When I Cant Burp

Nope, It's on the list to experiment with.this weekend. I would do it tomorrow, but I'm going out at night and to avoid any issues, I will stick to what I know! LIQUIDS I wanted to try the crabcakes, refried Beans, and give the eggs one more try. Last time I did a soft scramble, I think I will try poached. I'm East Indian from the Caribbean, so I am going to have my mom make a few softer veggie dishes (pumpkin, eggplant, string bean, bitter melon) for me. I miss the heck out of the spices. I have a weird feeling they will go down with ease, and if they do, I will be happy to live with that till I can tolerate meat.

I Hate It When I Cant Burp

Sure did, even added Water...it just felt " heavy" after it went down and it just sat there. Then 30 min later....off to the potty I go with my barf bucket in tow. Lol.

I Hate It When I Cant Burp

Beef is OUT! (for now, I can't imagine life without at least one bite of a delicious steak!) I haven't tried any other meat. My NUT said I am free to try anything as long as I " chew, chew, chew". It still shocks me that we were all sleeved on the same day but in totally different food stages!

I Hate It When I Cant Burp

Ok....so i tried turkey chili. NEVER AGAIN! I was staring at the mashed potatoes, chili and refried beans at dinner and because I apparently enjoy self torture, I went with the chili. Big mistake, I just don't think I am ready for meaty foods as yet. Earlier in the week I had beef soup, tuna and scrambled eggs, same gross reactions (diarrhea and dry heaving). I believe I have learned my lesson! :-/ I think my poor sleeve wants to be a vegetarian!

    Cream Of Wheat

Thanks Debi, I see all the posters with the same date of Surg, still on liquids! I just got home from my appt and here are examples of foods approved for me at 2.5 weeks out: Shrimp cocktail, chili of any kind,meatballs,eggplant,chicken/tuna/crab salad, tomato sauces and soups, veggie burgers, peaches, bananas and canned fruits. Kind of shocking, because from what I have read this sounds like the 6 week post op diet! Oh well, I will follow the instructions of my Doc and Nut. :-)

    Cream Of Wheat

Technically I can have it since I progressed to full liquids last week. I have not had it, out of fear that it will not sit right in my tummy. My 2 week follow up with the doc and nut is tomm. I am hoping the nut can provide me with a list of stages and foods. I feel like I am just existing on broth, jello, popsicles, and water. The protein drinks are the worst part, I barely get 25 grams in per day, if that. My nut is very easy going and allows any food after 2 weeks as long as you can tolerate it. I know every doc is different, but such a drastic inconsistency scares me! On the plus side, I'm basically pain free! It's getting better day by day...

Had My First Follow Up Since Surgery

Hey everyone! I was also sleeved on 6/4. Pre op- 238 Day of surgery- 228 Today- 216.4 I can drink clear fluids now with ease. If it goes down too fast, I feel a tightening in my tummy. My NUT is pretty lax, so is my eating plan. She had mashed chicken/tuna with mayo listed for 7 days post op! I couldn't bring myself to do it! Protein drinks are killing me. The taste of them make me gag, but i have to force them down. My 2 week appt is on Tuesday, I am looking forward to getting a complete list of what I can and can't eat.

    Pickles!

I had similar cravings today! While making my 7 year olds lunch, she requested slices of watermelon. Just smelling it, as it was glistening in the sunlight, and looking so ripe, red, and juicy, I felt like I could bite my own arm off for a piece. UGH!! Also, Instead of pickles I wanted olive juice so baddddd! Not the olives,...just the salty brine. I gave into the olive juice craving, I had a teaspoon, just enough to get it out of my head. I drank extra water to make up for it! Lol. :-)
  13. I am from Trinidad in the Caribbean, and I love coconut water. Being in the middle of Ohio, of course you never get it fresh, so we make do with the cans from the Mexican markets, Indian markets, etc. The mainstream products like "vita coco" and the like, taste funky and artificial to me. After my surgery, my mom sent me cans of coconut water, and coconut oil which I am enjoying. We love the healing benefits of the entire coconut.

    Getting Out Of Bed

I swear it gets better! I was sleeved 6/4. I had the same thought of "OH CRAP!" when getting in and out of bed. All of a sudden today (1 week post-op) there is zero pain. I'm amazed and grateful that i am healing well. Now if only I can sleep on my tummy......:-)

    Sleeved June 4Th Experience =)

Great Amy! Also sleeved on 6/4, I am officially on the "full" liquid stage. It took me 2 days to drink one chocolate muscle milk. Instead, I have been drinking water and G2, with the occasional jelly/pudding/popsicle. Totally worried about my protein intake in the future, regarding drinks....hopefully I can get them down this week.

Sippin On My First Protein Shake...

I tried vanilla muscle milk and wanted to vomit! It tasted sour and yuck. Chocolate went down better. I also got some gatorade g2, because I am scared to death that i will get dehydrated. I got up this morning and went to kroger. I was getting all kinds of stares because i know the clerks are used to seeing me zip around the aisles 4 nights out of the week, and I was walking like a snail this morning. I stocked up on food/drink for this phase.

    Surgery date 2/7/11

Hello! I am also in Cincinnati, and sleeved by Kerlakian. I was wondering how you were doing 4 months post op?

    June 4Th Sleevers

I can start protein drinks tomorrow, but I'm a little scared. My plan is to get every RTD I could tolerate pre op and do a taste test, because the last thing I want to do is waste my money! I am craving lentils, so i can't wait to get to that stage.

    June 4Th Sleevers

Hey Ladies! I was sleeved on June 4th, also.... And OH MY GAWD, I just sneezed. Holy crap. I had to check and make sure I didn't pull my incisions apart. Lol. Other than that, I feel great, just dealing with the stomach acid issue.
  22. Hello All! I wants to say that I was sleeved on June 4th by Dr. George Kerlakian in Cincinnati. So far the experience has been better than expected. The nurses are wonderful, and I have zero complaints about my healing. I did ask for a binder, which has made a massive difference in how I feel. I am up, walking, and barely taking the pain medication. I am grateful that my experience has been wonderful so far, and I pray it continues. Good luck to all those being sleeved soon!

    Spicy Foods<<<I Miss U!

This has been on my mind lately! I'm Trinidadian (from the Caribbean) and I grew up eating habaneros like it was nothing. The thought of not being able to but my homemade pepper sauce (a concoction of garlic, cilantro, habaneros, lime, salt, vinegar) on food for perhaps weeks makes me sad....but I'll get over it! Pre-Op I flavor my broths and soups with BW3s blazing sauce, which is amazing! I get sleeved Monday, so we will see what happens on the Post-Op side. :-)
