Anyone Gone To Mexico Alone For Surgery?
DanityChai replied to NJsharon's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have read quite a few stories of people going alone and doing just fine. Plus you will meet other sleevers there that will keep you company. That was my experience when I went to Mexico to have my band. Do it. You will be fine. -
Medicalfinancing.com Anyone Go With Them?
DanityChai replied to kansasgirl's topic in Insurance & Financing
Well I applied with Cosmedicredit and haven't heard anything. I didn't get a confirmation email or anything. They seem very unprofessional. I tried calling all day today to see if my app was received and to get an app number so I can check the status but it kept forwarding me to voicemail and the voicemail box is full. If worse comes to worse I have a distribution that I can take on my 401k. It will be penalty free and I will just have to be earne income tax on it. Still not sure which way I will go. -
Wow we have some great names here. Thanks for sharing everyone.

Beautiful. Love the dress too.

Did anyone use Cosmeticreit for Dr. Aceves? I was going to apply with the other company but their fees are insane. Has anyone used Cosmeticredit? If so, how was it? I didn't see anything on their website about the crazy loan fees. Any help will be appreciated.

I am trying to decide on a place too and am not sure who to go with. Those fees are insane though. Thank you for the info. -
I am trying to figure out which protein to use too. I keep reading about UNJURY but everyone seems to think it tastest awful. I am also going to try and make a few more payments before my surgery so I can take out less for the loan.

Recommended Reading For A Pre-Sleever?
DanityChai posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a little over two months out until I have my revision with Dr. Aceves. Are there any books you would recommend and why? I have bought one for my Kindle already called "The Emotional First-Aid Kit: a practical guide to life after bariatric surgery". I have also been checking out "The Gastric Sleeve" by Dr. Garcia (I believe). Any recommendations would be highly appreciated. -
YEah I agree that there are people who have great luck with the band. I have a friend who loves hers and she has had it since 2007. She lost weight and kept it off. I know she gets stuck and pukes a lot though. IMO that would just suck even if you were successful with it.

Impatiently counting down the days to get rid of this crap-band. I am sitting here on a Saturday morning trying to enjoy some scrambled eggs. First bite and I am stuck and in so much pain! I HATE IT! The thing that sucks about my band is that the first bite always gets stuck and then nothing after that. No restriction, nothing! This POS can't get out of me fast enough.

Thank you Becca. Your progress is awesome! I thought I remembered reading somewhere on here that the bariatric center at the Mayo Clinic doesn't use lap-bands anymore because of the high failure rate? It is such a waste of money (in my experience).

The "weight"ing Game
DanityChai replied to FluffyBleu76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am impatiently awaiting too. I am self-pay though. As you can see by my ticker below, I am pretty excited. I suggest spending the weight-ing game by researching and reading as much as possible. I have learned so much from this board it is insane. Good luck to you. -
Sorry to post this in this forum area. I wasn't sure where else to post it. I will be getting my sleeve in May and going on vacation (to celebrate the big 4-0) in October. I wanted to hear from some of you on how you deal with vacations while sleeved. I will be a few months out so it will be up to me to work my sleeve and remain in control. We are staying at an adult only all-inclusive resort so the food and drinks will be flowing. I know it is a ways off but I am already worried about how to deal with this situation. Thank you for letting me rant.

Going To Cab San Lucas Post Surgery...
DanityChai replied to DanityChai's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
THank you both so much for your replies. I didn't even think that a buffet could help. That is true though so you can pick and choose what you can have. Being that we will be on the ocean I am going to try and stock up on fish and shrimp and maybe some fruit. Thanks again ladies. -
It was in my case with two different docs. I can't imagine they would tack that on to the quoted price.

Hey everyone. I'm Stephanie. 39 years. 5'4 and 230. Totally looking forward to my lap-band removal and getting the sleeve. I'm scheduled with Dr. Aceves on May 11.

Thought I'd Be Happier Than This....
DanityChai replied to Seannie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I totally could've written this post. My surgery is in May and I love my wine and the social cigarette. It's scary to think that it will all be gone, I agree. The advice you've received is awesome. I plan to revisit this thread the closer I get to my date. Thanks for sharing. -
