  1. Today's my Post-Op Day #9... I had to be re-hospitalized on Post Op Days 5 & 6 because I had diarrhea for four days & got severely dehydrated. When they got me to the ER, I literally downed a 1,000 cc bag of IV fluid in one hour! I had dropped 5lbs in 2 days because of the diarrhea & fluid loss. Not a good situation! I'm still having a little diarrhea, but am doing my best to keep taking in the fluids every hour. I'm still on the total clear liquids, so it has nothing to do with any protein drinks or food transitions since I haven't had the chance to start that phase yet. I'm hoping this will run its course & stop. I was 220lbs on surgery date, 218lbs Post-Op Day #2, then 212lbs Post-Op Day #4. I've posted an update video on YouTube about my post-op experience if you'd like to see it, just search under "5ohGirl". I hope we all start feeling better soon!!!

    March Sleevers

Hello again fellow March Sleevers! I wanted to find out if any of you had on-going problem with diarrhea post-op... I had to be re-hospitalized on my Post Op Days 5 & 6 earlier this week due to 4 days of diarrhea causing severe dehydration. I was miserable. You can hear about the whole ordeal if you want to check out my YouTube video, just search under "5ohGirl". I was a bit upset that the freakin' doctor couldn't even really tell me what the green sludge was coming out of my a** for 4 days! They ran tests on it at the hospital three times & said it wasn't the "worst" virus it could be (that could kill you), but beyond that they didn't seem concerned to find out more of what it was exactly & just told me it would "run its course". I got out Thursday & am doing my darndest to keep taking in liquids, although I'm still having a little diarrhea. Very frustrating & worrysome. On surgery day I was 220, when I weighed myself at home on Sat (Day 3 post op) I was 217 and by Tues (Day 5 post op) I was down to 212! I had lost 5lbs of liquids in my body! Now, post-hospital, I'm at 211.5... I'm hoping it's actual "weight" loss and not more "fluid" loss. Anyone else experience the diarrhea thing?

    Day 3

Hang in there! Today is Day 9 post-op for me... I had to be re-hospitalized on Days 4 & 5 post-op due to suffering 4 days of diarrhea & getting severely dehydrated... I've posted another video update on YouTube, just search under "5ohGirl" if you want to hear the whole story. Just please, please, get your fluids in... stay on top of them every hour... if you get diarrhea, don't wait as long as I did to call your doctor about it. Good luck to you all in your recovery!
  4. Well, I'm so ready for tomorrow to get here... I lost another 2lbs since yesterday... down a total of 11lbs in past 14 days. I'm doing a video journal that is on YouTube if anyone wants to keep track of my suffering... I mean, my PROGRESS! LOL! Just search videos under "5ohGirl". I hope to post one by tomorrow night, post-op, from the hospital. But, we'll see how it goes. I'm looking forward to being a permanent member of the Loser's Club. This site is so wonderful and it's really nice to know that none of us are going through this alone. Blessings to you and good luck in your journey as well!
  5. I've been using the Bari Essentials protein drink powders with skim milk... my doctor has had me drinking 4 of those shakes a day. They taste pretty good actually. Every other day I'll have some low-sodium chicken or beef broth just to vary from all the "sweet" tastes. I can have as much sugar free jello as I want & sugar free popsicles too... TOTALLY sick of the jello though! LOL! I cheated very minorly at a family celebration on Saturday, had very small portion of spaghetti & salad. Oh yeah, one tiny peice of garlic bread too

    Surgery Date 03/14/12

Good luck tomorrow! I'm sure it will go wonderfully! I'm excited for you! My surgery date is the 15th, the day after yours. I did take my pre-op day off (tomorrow) because I think I will need to check & double-check things & get mentally prepared. Just think of how much better things will be for all of us 4 weeks post-op!
  7. My surgery date is also on Thurs, 3/15... my doctor has had me on a liquid diet for the past 2 weeks... I've lost 9 lbs. His reasoning for having all of his sleeve patients do a liquid for 2 weeks is to shrink the liver as much as possible before the day of surgery. It's supposed to make things easier when he's in there moving organs around to do the surgery I guess. It's been somewhat of a drag though. I'll be on a liquid diet for at least 2 weeks after... clear liquids first week, then progressing to protein shakes the following week. Good luck to us all on our surgeries! Take care

    March Sleevers

Congrats on your upcoming surgery date! Mine is scheduled for March 15th & I started my liquid diet on the 1st... so far I've dropped 5 lbs in 2 days, which is encouraging... I'm using the Bari Essentials protein shakes and they seem to fill me up. Sugar-free jello gelatin is a nice fill-in too... I'm going to try a little bit of low-sodium Hot & Spicy V8 juice today because I'm needing some other non-sweet flavors besides just the low-sodium chicken broth. Just don't forget to drink all the protein shakes they tell you to drink everyday (mine is 4/day using skim milk) or you may feel weak. Good luck to you!
