  6. Alright, so its three weeks post op and im feeling amazing. I definatly still feel a bit of discomfort if I move a certain way, but i was off of pain medication by 2 weeks post op. I feel blessed to say I havent really had any complications with surgery and last week i had already lost..... drum roll please.... 26lbs!! im sure now im atleast 30 down. in two weeks?! my mind cant comprehend it yet. and since last year in march i am down 103lbs!!!!! Im constantly taking pictures trying to see the difference because everyone is telling me how different I look, but i still cant wrap my head around it! I am fitting into clothes that I havent worn in years! my mom bought pants that were WAY to small a month ago... I tried them on last week and they couldnt close to button yet but i could tell they fit better. I tried those same pants on this morning and they closed!! and they would be comfortable if the waist of them wasnt right on one of my inscision lines. But its so crazy that in that littlle time my body is changing so much so fast. Is my mind ever going to catch up? I feel great, pretty even, but i still was afraid to try on a size 28 with my friend at Lane Bryant yesterday because i didnt want to feel that disappointment of my clothes not fitting... but this morning i made myself try on a size 26 and they fit! its like... i dont know if my mind is ever going to be able to comprehend the changes because they are happening so fast! can anyone offer any advice on getting through this part of this journey? I would appreciate anything! Other than that I feel amazing! my blood pressure has been almost perfect since surgery, without medications!! Before i was on two medications and i still couldnt control it. its like a miracle.. I am so happy that i made this decision. I cant wait to see what the future holds for me!
  7. Well, here I am!! Five days post op and feeling more and more excited with every day that passes. I know I have made the right decision and its a great feeling to know i did something to better my life so drastically. Suprisingly surgery and recovery is not as painful as i had expected it to be. I had my operation on monday morning at 7:00am, and by 4:00pm i was walking around the hospital floor... Its amazing to me how the body can recuperate so fast! My doctor (Dr. Sonnastine with Fresh Start Bariatrics in Columbus, Ohio) came daily to check on my progress, and all of the nurses were very friendly and made me feel very comfortable during my stay. I went home on wednesday afternoon on a full liquid diet, and the pain meds kept the pain tolerable for the most part. Im assuming because of the stress on my body and the hormone changes i started my period 2 weeks early, and that defintaly caused more pain for me, but my doc called in an anti-inflammatory med for me yesterday and i feel like new today! i have very minimimal pain and i feel alot less stiff. Im so excited that Ive gotten to his point, because im a very independant person and its difficult for me to rely on everyone else to prepare my meals and even help me bathe. Last night i slept through one of my scheduled times to take medication, and when i woke up i was suprised that i felt great despite that! so im starting to take only one pain med along with the anti-inflammatory and see if i can manage my pain on the lower dose :-D The part that is proving to be the hardest for me is the full liquid diet. I know its a mental thing, but i just miss the texture of food. I spend alll day drinking either Water or protien smoothies, so i just yearn for that "real" food.. But I know that all in good time i will be able to get back on the diet i was on before surgery, and im looking very forward to that. I have noticed though that since surgery my sense of smell is amped up a lot! People's perfume smells make me nauseous, or even the smell of some of the foods i used to love make me feel sick to my stomach... Did this happen to anyone else? I hope it doesnt last! I feel very optimistic about the future. I cant wait to recuperate totally and get back to little things that are easily taken for granted, like holding my baby boy and playing with him. I thank God that I was given this oportunity, and although i had to go though a lot ups and downs to get to this point, i wouldnt change it for the world. The future is all mine to do whatever my heart desires.. and I cant wait to go on my first rollar coaster ride when i finally will be able to fit!!! hahah

mnb sleeve, YES! my tastes have changed so much too! i made my menu for the first few weeks after surgery and it has served for nothing, because all the sweet fruit smoothies just are way to sweet for me! that and the cream Soups that i liked before arent my favorite now.. i really have to force myself because i dont have much of an appetite at all, but im assuming that will change with time! I cant wait to be able to say im that much lighter! Congratulations on your progress and thank you for the kind words!

Merydia, im glad to know you are feeling well! and even more happy to know that this smell thing should get better. I know what you mean! my husband works construction and the smell of wood on him when he got home just made my stomach turn! haha.. but i noticed that im beginning to get a little more tolerable of food smells... perfume is the worst, even just a hint of flowery perfume makes me want to vacate the area.. hahah.. congrats to you too on your fast recovery!

Kathy, Thank you so much for the uplifting words!! dont worry, im a corny person too! haha.. debly, when i first got out of surgery they out me on Delaudid every two hours... i enjoyed it because it put me to sleep, and i needed the rest after surgery. after that i was put on percocet, 2 every 4 hours, and that really did the job. Now im down to 1 and a half every six hours, along with a nasal anti-inflammatory spray that i started yesterday. The spray makes it possible for me to go the whole six hours with minimal pain. Good luck with your decision and i hope you figure out whats best for you! I know for me this has been the best thing ive done for myself so far!
