  1. WOW! It's kinda sad to hear about some of these feelings. I guess I truly am blessed that I am surrounded everyday by such wonderful people that don't judge me and would never dare think of a thing like saying it was the easy way out! I do know how blessed I am with my friends and family and colleagues but this is making me appreciate them so much more. I hope that each and every one of you are supported and commended on such a wonderful thing you are doing by those that you do choose to tell! You are all amazing people that are making big sacrafises for all different reasons such as health, energy, self respect and so many other reasons! I know one big factor for a lot of people is relations with others like being able to keep up with kids/grand kids or having energy to interact with others without the embarrassment of so many of the overweight issues we face which usually makes us the negative center of attention! I Commend each and every one of you for the choice you made and I hope that you all can find people that accept you and your choice and will always be there to cheer you on every step of this long journey! The reason I had surgery was to be a good mom who taught healthy eating habits to my children and to have the energy to run and play with them like they deserve from me! Surgery was hands down one of the best choices I've ever made :-) good luck to each of you on your journey!
  2. I think you lady's should be So proud! Undergoing surgery and making a huge commitment to change the rest of your life is Not the easy way out! In my opinion if someone said that it was the easy way out I would assume that it was a case of jealousy. Be proud! Be so proud! Be proud that you mean enough to yourself that you were willing to go under the knife voluntarily to make yourself a better future :-) I have been very open with my friends/family/colleagues about my surgery and I have had way more people support me than not.. I think it was really important to me for them to know why I was having such a drastic change and I for sure wanted them to know that it wasn't something illegal lol :-)
  3. I noticed that my (almost 3 week) stall happened when I started incorporating food back into my diet! Just before 3 weeks I started having yogurt, refried Beans and scrambled eggs... Then BOOM... The weight loss stopped! I figured the body went into give me give me mode after not eating for almost 3 weeks and was trying to keep all those nutrients which caused a weight stall! Guess what I did yesterday?? I ate MORE! 3 meals! A full yogurt for Breakfast, as much refried beans as would fill my tummy without being over full (2 full spoons maybe a tad more) an iced coffee at Hastings and then about 15 beans out of a cup of Wendy's chili (beans and liquid only) then I weighed and tada.... 2.5 lb loss!!! Yep! I think I noticed the most inches lost was during the stall too! I have not yet freaked out about the sleeve, I just keep listening to my body and adjusting to what she is saying!

    Q Pain Ball

Mine helped A LOT! The most intimidating part was taking it out myself BUT fear not, absolutely no pain, slow and steady did the trick and it came out like a charm :-) I actually video taped the removal of mine lol cuz I thought it was so cool! Also, I definitely had more pain after it was removed so it was for sure doing its job!
  5. I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and at this moment my favorite food is refried beans w/ melted cheese and Louisiana hot sauce!! Mmm mmm SO good!! I can only eat a few bites but it's SO worth it!!
  6. I guess mine is a positive post :-) Every single person that I choose to spend my time with is SO very supportive with my decision! I see so many posts where people say they are told that they took the easy way out! Well, here's my opinion on that matter: undergoing surgery, being in pain for days, risking health problems, not eating a thing for WEEKS and having food restrictions for the rest of your life is NOT the easy way out!
  7. I'm 23 days post op and I woke up really early this morning super nauseated and to no surprise I had the dry heaves because I had nothing in my tummy to throw up! Miserable miserable miserable... Now the day is winding up and I'm still nauseated! I hope it doesn't have anything to do with the sleeve! I can barely drink without fearing the awful "vomit" feeling!
  8. I feel MUCH better today! Must have just been one of those things... I did make sure to drink drink drink after my post yesterday and throughout the night when I woke up! It must have been the dehydration or I guess I could have had a 24 hour bug, either way; all is well here :-) thx for the advise!
  9. Looks great... I bookmarked your blog.. Keep going, there's lots of good info :-)
  10. Ok Chef... You really got something started here :-) I'm going to have to order me one too! There's 4 people in my house, is it enough to feed 1 sleever and 3 regular appetites??
  11. I was afraid of the dehydration thing! I'm going to work extra hard to get more fluids in, I KNOW my fluid intake has been bad!

  13. I had mashed potatoes today :-) it went good! I'm 3 weeks post op and I can't get much liquids down so I thought really runny mashed potatoes might be ok on my full liquid diet and it did go well. It was so nice to have real flavor for the first time in 3 weeks!

    Removal Of Stitches

I feel VERY fortunate that my dr glued my incisions closed, I never had to remove anything! You can't even see where my incisions were! When the glue fell off, the incisions were healed!

    Overweight Family/friends

Likasulema, Lol you make me giggle :-) its not TMI, we are all adults here! The fact of the matter is that the better you feel as in knees, back etc... The more exciting and pleasurable the experience is between husband and wife, there's nothing shameful about that! I personally am excited to get back to my old sex drive because the more weight I gained and the more exhausted I stayed and the more self conscious I got the more it affected that experience between us. Good luck to you!!

    When Can I Have Coffee?

Nancy, I'm 16 days out and I've had coffee the last couple days! My doctor said it was ok to have coffee or tea after the surgery BUT only enough to curb the headaches and/or craving! He said caffeine is not going to kill you lol but it will make you feel hungry if you're not careful! I slightly water down the coffee and add sweet n low and very very little cream and it tastes so good and is probably the easiest thing I have drank since surgery! Also, even just a 1/4 cup which is what I normally drink will give me ample energy :-)

    Holy Unbelievable Pain!

    How far out are you??
  18. Welcome welcome welcome.... Congrats on making the life change :-)
  19. I'm just over two weeks post op and in the last week or so I haven't slept 25 hours probably.. I guess I'm going to have to start taking something but is this happening to anyone else! I realize my body isn't worn out like it's used to, but this totally sucks lol.
  20. Welcome!!! Keep up the good work!

    2 Week Post Op

Thanks Kayte, that makes me feel a lot better :-) Thanks to everyone here for your encouragement, it sure does make this process easier being able to relate to others :-):-)
  22. Go see my dr tomorrow for my two week post op.. Unfortunately I don't see him being very happy! I can't drink my protein because it makes me want to vomit :-( I do drink plain ol water all day, that ought to count for something :-) but not 64 oz I'm sure! I never realized it would be this hard to stomach the taste of things afterwards.. I have lost 17 lbs so far but that's neither here nor there because I STILL have this horrid pain on my left side that refuses to leave me which probably is having a hard time healing because of my complete lack of nutrition! As long as I keep my abd. Binder on its bearable so I guess I will just wear it till the pain finally subsides...

    2 Week Post Op

Quick update*** just left Dr. Bell's office and he said im doing GREAT! He said to keep doing what I can to get Protein in as this little amount will make my hair thin out real bad.. BUT he didn't act like I was doing anything wrong seeing as how I'm drinking tons of Water. Yay for me.. 18 lbs in two weeks and a great response from the doctor! Thank you all so much for your kind words!!
