I am just starting the process to get my surgery. I attended a seminar on Monday and have my first appointment tomorrow. It will last 4 hours. I will be meeting with an internist, dietician and exercise physiologist. I live in Georgetown, KY and from Louisville, KY. I have been struggling with my weight for well over 15 years now. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2000 and I truly believe that is when I started heading down the path that leads me to where I am today. I am 54 years (young) <- in my mind 5'8" and 256 lbs. I am very happy to have stumbled across this group as I am looking for support through my journey back to being who I know is inside this body of mine..When I went to the seminar on Monday night the guest speaker was a Bariatric patient. Two years post surgery. She looked amazing and by the time she was finished sharing her story there wasn't a dry eye in the room...I had a "lightbulb" moment when she described how she felt pre surgery...One word...BROKEN...that hit home for me...and describes how I feel.
