I am 9 weeks post op. Down 44 lbs. and gone from an 18 to a 14. I already feel so much better with the weight I have lost. My knees especially. I just wanted to share what my husband Steve said to me night before last when he came in from work. He said "you sure are all dolled up". I asked "what do you mean?" and he replied "you just look so good"...Oh I love that man of mine!! Blessings~Melanie:)

How Fast Did You Drop Sizes?
Meljp replied to jaymzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 months post op and have gone down one size! Was an 18 in jeans and wear 16 now and they are not "stretch". I can really notice the difference in my butt and legs. I also bought 2 pair of 14 from the girl I purchased the jeans from. They are Lane Bryant. I looked at the website and most of the jeans run around $60.00. I got 3 pairs of jeans and a beautiful top for $30.00. Also the jeans are Tall...first time in ages I have had jeans that are truly long enough!! I begged her to keep my phone number and continue to call when she has clothes to sell...Made my day for sure! Blessings~Melanie:) -

Something New Challenge....
Meljp replied to favoredone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sara that is awesome!! I am an artist as well! I design mostly jewelry. I work in polymer clay, mixed media as well as PMC...I belong to a wonderful Guild KY/TN with some very talented artists. We have one big retreat at Mammoth Cave each Oct. and bring in a BIG polymer clay artist for 4 days of workshops. We have already filled all 38 spots for this Oct. My goal is to open an Etsy shop this summer. I have a bag that opens up and hangs. It has at least 12 different size zippered clear pockets. I have said when I get that bag full it's time to open shop...If you haven't heard of Etsy you should really check it out as a venue to sell your art!! I would love to see some of it as I always love to buy from other artists!!! Please keep in touch with me! Blessings~Melanie:) -

Warning- Don't Try Chocolate! And Other Useful Tips
Meljp replied to Mrs.Prisses's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With all the dang Easter candies out at the stores I kept thinking OMG I would die for a Cadbury Egg!! I know BAD...Get that thought out of your head girl....well I opted for a bag of dark chocolate (good for you in small amounts) they are Hershey's Pieces. Like M&M's...I only eat a few (5-6) once a day and they take care of that craving...just hope and pray the cravings don't take over...One thing, I used to wake EVERY morning instantly thinking about food...I mean as soon as my eyes would open....NOT now!!! I love you "sleevie"...Blessings~Melanie:) -

I'm Back From The Dead, Unsleeved, But I Have A New Surgery Date!
Meljp replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
God Love you Jimmy...I was not here when you left so I want to welcome you back...it is very hard with no support...that's why I didn't tell many people...they can be so judgemental...and that hurts...my husband was not for the surgery...he knew how much I loved food....and I know now the biggest fear he had was loosing me, due to a surgery "I choose" to have...but with education he got on board with me!! I pray that you get the support that you need this time...you know we are always here....this group has been so helpful for so many people...you take care of yourself and keep us posted!!! Starting To Love My Sleeve
Meljp replied to Reddi4change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Huge Congrats to YOU!!! I feel the same way!! I was sleeved on 2-27 and the only thing that bothers me is swallowing (some) pills...capsules are not my friend and yesterday one came back up..TMI I know, but important for some..it was the first time I have thrown up....small tablets are fine, so I will have to find other brands that will go down without problems...I love the restriction....the feel of being full after a small amount of food!!! I told hubs today at dinner...I love it!! I used to wake up EVERY morning and I swear the very first thing I would think of was food....Not now...that in itself is such a blessing!!! -
Two weeks as well...and got my hormone patch back on a few days before and was I ever ready!!!! Needless to say so was hubs!!! Blessings~Melanie:)

New To Forum / Gastric Sleeve - 9 Days Post-Op
Meljp replied to Anna L.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Anna! So happy to hear you were able to get your sleeve surgery. It's also a help to you to have your mom have the surgery 7 months before yours. I am sure the weight loss your mom experienced along with her energy returning was a huge factor in your decision. It's awesome that you have your mom for support as well...keep us posted...Blessings~Melanie:) -
I am 15 days post op and was only on a liquid diet for 2 days before my surgery. Odd how surgeons choose different pre op diets. I would think they would want the stomach clean of all foods...interesting....Best of Luck! and keep us posted....Blessings~Melanie)

I was always a fast and big bite eater. I guess that's why it was so easy for me to pack on the weight... I practiced small bite before surgery and was told as well as you to take eraser sized bites. I tried and felt like come on....this size bite is just way to little for me...moral of my story...I am 15 days post op and I take bites the size of 3 erasers!! I chew my food to death and eat slow....giving my new stomach plenty of time to tell me "I am Full"...hope this helps...Blessings~Melanie:)

My oh My Julie! You look fantastic! My personal opinion is you shouldn't loose any more weight. Keep working out and toning. And you have a wonderful Boyfriend!! Make sure to tell him I said so!! Blessings~Melanie:)

I am a little over 2 weeks out and can for sure take bigger sips than at first! I was always a gulper, so it has been a very interesting challenge, but much better now.....Blessings~Melanie:)

Post Op Almost 4.5 Months
Meljp replied to needachange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What do you mean by stricture? If you are meaning restriction, maybe they can do something to fix it...Blessings~Melanie:) -
I am so sorry to hear your bad news. That is so sad. I would be sure to read the policy and maybe even get your lawyer to take a look at it. It's a shame you have to go through this. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers...Blessings~Melanie:)

I Weigh Less Than My Husband For The First Time In 25 Years!
Meljp replied to Queen of Crop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh so good for YOU!!! You look fantastic! -
Thanks for the information! Just ordered my copy! Really looking for recipes that Hubs will eat when I move to that full meal stage. Right now eating just protein it's easy because I just fix high protein meats and the rest of the meal he gets. It's just hard cutting down recipes right now so there is no waste. Can't wait to thumb through this book...I have had several "For Dummies" books over the years and have enjoyed every single one of them! Blessings~Melanie:)

Amen Rootman! -
Lucky You All....I had friggin staples...got them out Friday...all 37 of them...I asked the surgeon when he was finished "did you get all 37 of them?" He said "my oh my you must have been bored!" didn't hurt taking them out at all, but they were a bugger to live with for almost 2 weeks! Blessings~Melanie:)

Stabbing In My Chest When I Drink. Advice Needed Asap!
Meljp replied to EmilyIsSleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same feelings! Mine felt like someone was grabbing and twisting my insides is how I explained it. I found that drinking warm liquids helped, or room temp. And thank God I have always been a good burper! Small sips and make sure you are sitting straight up will help as well. Mine passed by day 5 and now I am good to go! Feel great. That feeling should pass soon. Blessings~Melanie:) -
I guess I am one of the lucky ones...***knocks on wood*** I am 10 days out and have not thrown up once. I was sick to my stomach the first few days. I have read so many success stories here that from what I have read I can tell you things will get better! Please know that. I can't believe I'm not depressed over the loss of a good friend (food) I do suffer with depression, anxiety and take meds for that, but I've not once felt like I made a horrible choice having this surgery. It's been just the opposite for me. I have felt fantastic for several days. (and that's without my hormone patch) LOL I go for my 2 week post op appointment tomorrow and hope to get that baby back on!! Just know that you have a wonderful support group here. I will keep you in my prayers. Blessings~Melanie:)
