I have empire bcbs ppo NY..they cover the surgery 100%. The only thing I have to pay are the co pays which is $30 for specialists and $20 for my regular pcp..so I spent $175-$200 for those visits and that's it

Congrats!..my surgery is on the 23rd..I had my psych eval on Monday to and got the call yesterday to let me know I've been approved..it also took me around a month for all the testing only because I did the required 7month weight loss program last may before I opted for weight loss surgery(lucky me)..everything happens for a reason..good luck with your surgery!

I smoked for 5 years and quit 2 years ago cold turkey on my 200th try...I was told the dr would absolutely not do sleeve or bypass if you smoked only lapband..it also can cause an ulcer/ gastritis(isn't fun I had a bad case for 6months)..I personally know how hard it is but I also know I wouldn't even think of the surgery if I still smoked..I know your looking for a legit answer but it will take weeks /months for your stomach to remotely heal so you wont be able to smoke that whole time anyway

Im having my surgery on the 23rd..I dont think it matters..I have gerd and a hiatal hernia(which will be repaired)..I take 300mg of zantac a day. At the support group I go to everyone has different surgeries and 90% of them take nexium

i just brought my pillow(theirs are extremely uncomfortable), my medication, and my pj's. you dont really need anything. i was there from like 9 or 10 pm till 4am. i brushed my teeth before i left and when i got home i showered.

My pre op/ post op diet requires powdered protein supplement..one to two tablespoons to each quart of liquid. Needless to say I know nothing about protein supplements. Anyone have any recommendations for brands?

Thanks..I was thinking maybe it was so short because I already have a therapist I see once a month and I am on medication for anything I have ( anxiety, mood swings, and insomnia)..he is the guy my dr recommends so I can only assume he knows what he's doing..now I just have stress test and heart echo to go and then I have to deal with insurance approval or denial

I was leaving a mandatory bariatric surgery support group and was told when I go in for surgery I have to bring the mask and tube and that's it..not the machine itself..can anyone tell me the reason for not the machine to?

As far as I know with my surgeons office and a few others the upper gi is required..its nothing to worry about

Im also doing requirements..I just have to get the psych letter from my psychiatrist.one more support group(I needed 3)...do a stress test and heart echo. Im going to my surgeon on the 29th to see where im at. I really hope to have the surgery by may but who knows

I didn't trust my doctors staff enough to fax over my sonogram results or letter if necessity..I gave them a week to write it and get the results...called them and had them make copies..I drove the papers down to my surgeon myself so I know they got it

The psych eval is so they can tell you have reasonable weightloss expectation..your ability to comply with dietary restrictions post op, know you can emotionally handle this ..I would say if your psych should write a letter clearing you if he thinks you understand this. I have my psych eval with my own psychiatrist on thurs..and im nervous if she knows what to do also..but im going to bring her a description of what I need
