Surgeon Consultation Is Tomorrow!
Felicity549 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a consultation about 3 yrs ago and was told I'm eligible for band, sleeve or gastric bypass. I ended up chickening out, then got pregnant. Now I'm back and ready. My consultation with the surgeon is tomorrow. Are there any specific questions anybody recommends I ask? Like did any of you wish you'd asked something that never came to mind? Thanks, everyone. I love this group. -
Hi! :-) I was curious if anybody has advice or similar situation. My BMI is 38. It's been over 35 for 5 years and has been documented by my primary doctor. To qualify through BCBS IL my BMI can be 35+ with 2 co-morbities. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure/hypertension and high cholesterol 3 years ago. I also know I have sleep apnea but have not had that documented on paper by a doctor (yet). I took medications to control bp & cholesterol for a year until I got pregnant. From the moment I got pregnant my blood pressure has been normal. No meds for almost 2 years. I've gained weight even but somehow pregnancy corrected this issue. weird, right? Anyway, I'm wondering if high blood pressure would still be considered as a co-morbidity. It's been documented in the past but really is not an issue now. I don't want to ask my insurance company this question (don't want to draw attention. Ha). I just wonder if once you're "labeled" with hypertension if they always consider you to still have it. I still have high cholesterol. I guess I could go get the sleep apnea diagnosed so I'll have 2 co-morbidities. Thanks in advance to anyone who has advice!!

35 Bmi With Co-Morbities Question...
Felicity549 replied to Felicity549's topic in Insurance & Financing
@Beautiful. I saw the doctor & nutritionist 3 years ago but have to start my process again now. I have an appointment with my PCP, a psych eval scheduled, surgeon consultation scheduled and an appointment at a sleep lab. 2 of those appointments are 1 month away. Grr! I'm getting impatient already. I want them to happen now. Ha. -

Thank you so much for these replies, everyone. Not that I'm glad you're all fearful, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I can't believe I'm going to do this but I'm so ready!! -
