I got my approval on Friday and called the surgeon's office on Monday and got my date and my pre-op surgeon appointment. Wonder why you have another NUT visit - since you've done your 6 month time already. Maybe your NUT visit is to go over the pre/post op diet plans. Call them back and get the dates for those appointments and tell them that you have to schedule your date soon so that you can give you job enough notification and such. I pressed mine yesterday - told them that HR and my boss was breathing down my neck for a date so we can schedule getting a temp and for me to get STD started and in order. Last time I went on STD for my knee surgery I didn't get a paycheck for 8 weeks.....had to close out my 401K for mortgage and such....so I filed STD yesterday. Be persisitent...but kind - it always works.

Well, those 6 months flew by pretty quickly - now I have surgery date of Sept. 10th....and it seems like it's a year away...... have I ever mentioned I don't have patience.....ha. Well - I hope these next 4 weeks go by quickly....will see what my pre-op diet requires this Thursday.....not really looking forward to that - but it's only for a week or so.....I hope. Now if I can actually get some work done here at the office instead of lurking on this damn site.....it's such an addiction.

haha I wish....just so freaking excited.....least I went on and filed for STD already - hopefully the doctors office returns the fax back to the STD quickly....guess I'll follow through on that later this week....hate that I have to be so ON TOP of everyone to do their jobs......let the countdown begin.....

I have UHC - and they approved me within 3 business days - they are awesome!!

Yippee...I'm so excited. they wanted to do it earlier -however, I have 2 conferences I'm in the middle of planning and would not be able to make it at Aug. 23rd. I meet with the surgeon this Thursday and they will give me all the info I need. I asked if there were anymore testing to be done...she looked at my file and said we were good. However the group from True Results richardson were still thinking I was getting the Crap Band -which i corrected them, then they called back wondering why I wanted to have my surgery at Presby Plano....ummm because this is not the Crap Band and I need to be sure I can hold down fluids as well as have another leak test after the surgery and before I go home....this is major surgery, not some outpatient surgery. Plus, the Presby Plano is my COE for UHC - so way would I have something like this done as an outpatient....dont' know what they are smoking over there. I am sure it all has to do with $$$ they get more if the surgery is done at their facility - all they get from my insurance company is payment for the 6 months of visits I did and testing I did at their facility - the rest goes to the surgeon, and all hospital related fees.... this gives me at least 2 more paychecks to nail down additional supplies and get my house in tip top White Glove shape.....

there is really not an approval process for STD - just as long as the doctor fills out the paperwork you are good to go.

I am also using STD and will have the paperwork started this week once I obtain my surgery date. I will be asking for 3 weeks to recover as well, want to return to work when i'm in the mushies and soft food stage.

I already did all those tests on my 5th visit. On my 6th visit i did the h-pylori which was negative. I will call in the morning as i dont want any surprises. Thanks

Crap. Ive not met my surgeon yet. Got my approval Friday and will get my appt with surgeon first of the week as well as surgery date. No point during my 6 months was there any discussion of smoking.

What paperwork states you have to quit? Insurance or surgeon?

Insurance was submitted on Friday - Aug 3. Called insurance company yesterday -they have it in the system... called doctors office to obtain the reference number that the insurance assigns when they receive the faxed documents - then phoned the insurance company today and gave them the reference number (makes such a difference to have that number) - and said it was in pending status. He said they usually take up to 5 days for approvals and then they snail mail the approval, but I can phone them and receive the actual approval over the phone and then have the doctors office do the same so we can get a surgery date scheduled. My boss is going nuts, he is as excited as I am for this surgery. I am about to get another VP to support, so I'll have 2 VP's which is great - but timing is not so great, as her first impression of me will be 'hello Im your new admin, and I'll see you in 3 weeks..... My boss is working all this out with HR so that I do get to support another VP, but that nothing can harm me while I get this procedure - he's awesome about protecting me. I think this approval wait is going to be much more difficult than the entire 6 month wait......crossing my fingers!!

I am so excited. I should get the date mon or tues. Keeping busy deep cleaning the house so when im recovering i won't do too much. Sucks needing everything perfect here my ocd coming out. Did the grout in most of the house just need to do kitchen. Cleaned all the floorboards and waxed the cabinets and vacuumed all the air vents All before noon oh and mowed the yard.

Im 4'11" and doc says I should be at 105-115 and I'm 50 yrs young. So i have about 80 pds to shed.

I personally can't wait to divorce food. I hate the fact that i can eat a whopper since nobody should eat that much at one meal. So excited to eat 1/4 cup of food. Im not going to miss anything about food. Our US portions of food are ridiculous and disgusting. I wish restaurants would serve normal sized meals like when i was growing up. Its amazing what has become the new normal.

Well, you guys were right - 3 business day's and I had my approval from UHC - they are awesome. So I call my doctor's office to inform them and to see if I can make my pre-consult appt with surgeon and get a surgery date...but they have to confirm it themselves first. they only work 1/2 day on Friday's just like me, So i warned them that I'd be callin twice a day next week so we can get this rolling - as the surgeon is only in the Richardson office on Thursdays..... I'm so excited I'm just beside myself and I got my passport in the mail yesterday so I'm ready for travel once the pounds disappear!!! going to be a great weekend........ thanks for all the kind words during this waiting for approval process!! I am so glad i have UHC.

have you tried scrambled eggs already? maybe some grilled pork chops or something?? hope you get this solved, and glad you are taking the steps to do such!

Omg this waiting is killing me - I left a voice mail for the nurse at UHC who is doing my approval....asking her to call me and let me know at least that my doctor's office sent in all the correct forms and documents.....my luck they left something out or something. so if some got this approved at least in 7 business days - today would technically only be day 4 since they didnt' get it logged into their system Monday afternoon...... we have 1/2 day Fridays here at work....so, I will call around 11:30 to hopefully get some news....but am expecting not to have an answer till next week - which is also driving my boss insane as we are working with HR for me to have another VP to support and need everything to go smoothly..... damn i hope the phone rings this morning.....
