Scoping Out Cute Clothes, Hairstyles, Etc.
mufasas-mom replied to BrickHouse's topic in The Gals' Room
I found a great consignment shop near my home - this is how I'll purchase my clothing until I get the desired size I am most happy with. So far, even though i'm still buying 'fat clothes' I've spent $30 last weekened on 5 shirts and a cute bracelet. All of the tops are either Lane Bryant, Ann Taylor and other designers that I would of never paid full price for, not at this size. I am so freaking excited knowing I find great deals on clothing and not worry about my budget. My thinking - I'm probably going to be saving $100 or more a month from my old food budget - so I put 1/2 away for vacation and the other 1/2 i can buy clothes......yippee for me. God, Aug 1 is not going to get here soon enough so I can get my surgery date...... -

Anyone Else Not Qualify For Fmla?
mufasas-mom replied to Nikki613's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
does your company offer Short Term Disability? I'd check there - as this way your job is safe and you get paid (my company pays 100% up to 3 months - then you'd have to switch to Long Term Disasbility at 60% salary) -
wow - that is very odd..... well at least they cover the surgery -so that's good.

Omg Have You Seen The Bills Sent To The Insurance Company.
mufasas-mom replied to TinkerToyz's topic in Insurance & Financing
I figured that the doctors and such know the insurance game and probably 'fluff' up the initial bill knowing that the contracted rate that they receive is much lower. But honestly, it is shocking to see that someone billed $1300 for one hour of their time, actually it was 30 min with her and 30 min taking the 500+ psych eval test..... -
My Advice To All Newly Post-Op Sleevers...
mufasas-mom replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Fitness & Exercise
thanks for the info - I've been doing push-ups and light upper body exercises with my 10 pd dumbells for over 3 weeks now to prep myself - I am working on making those 3rd adn 4th boobies disappear and it appears that only push-ups will really help, as I can see them disappearing!! I weigh 195 now - started at 202, but I am only 4'11" - so every 15 pounds on me is a dress size - and by building back up my muscles I can burn more calories while resting and getting the fat burning process started. -
With UHC - do you not have to contact the Bariatric Team at UHC? I did and I have UHC CHoice Plus as well - and did the (well still doing) the 6 months, psych, ekg, pulmonary testing and blood work. Did not have to provide 5 yr weight history and I DID contact the Bariatric Care with UHC who mailed me a list of all the documents and testing that they require prior to approval. So i knew from Day One what the process was. You should call the #800 number on the back of your ins card and ask to speak with a Bariatric Specialist - that should get you the correct answers.

I have UHC as well and checked this morning as I also received an e-mail asking me to check online for the recent claim paid. WOW - the psycho doctor charged UHC $1300 for one visit - but they only paid her $395. I still don't see any billings for all my visits (5 of them so far, last one is next Wed, Aug. 1) with Nutritionist and such - but I guess True Results bills at the end. So far this year I've reached my OOP Max of $2500, so this surgery will not cost me anything..yahoo. I did not have any co-pays with my UHC plan. I should get pre-op instructions and surgery date next week....yahoo. already purchased Protein mixes - need to get some Isopure and heating pad for recovery. Also, have told my boss and HR and they suggested that once I get the surgery date to call our Short Term Disability company and file the claim NOW, so I won't have to worry about not getting paid on time and such, the STD folks have screwed me over many times - this year with pnumonia i was home for 6 weeks and didn't receive a paycheck the entire time - thank god I have a 401K that i was able to tap into for mortgage, car payment and such. good luck guys.....hope to see you on the losing side soon! -

How Many Of You Still Drink With Your Meals?
mufasas-mom replied to LULU TATT's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
It seemed the video was demonstrating lap-band with the pouch above the stomach. Cant see how that scenario relates to the sleeve as we have no restriction when food travels to our stomach. -

Good luck keep is posted -
WOW - I've done a search here and can't find anyone here who has been sleeved by Dr. Mardsen in Dallas, Texas by using True Results. Guess I'll be the first one to post once I'm sleeved sometime in August.

Is Nexium ok to take for the acid after surgery? I keep reading about all these antacids like Pepcid, but thought Nexium was the same.

as a parent - I'd be just as worried as her parents. it's not about letting kids live their own lives, being a parent doesn't go away when you kids grow up, trust me. all parents want their kids safe and sound, that's all - and yes, the media does paint a horrible picture and i know that all of Mexico is not that way - but there are definately areas to avoid and i'm sure that none of the surgery centers in mexico is anywhere close to them. do your homework and present it to your parents, showing them where you will be and such and how the staff will care for you while you are there. they just need to be reassured and I'm sure they will support you at that time.

Calling All Dfw And Surrounding Area Sleevers!
mufasas-mom replied to tonibugg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello - would love to be part of a DFW group - I live in Princeton Texas - 9 miles east of McKinney. I work in Frisco for Pepsico. I was going to get the lapband - but after doing my homework and visits with my doc we decided the sleeve would be the better choice for me. I have been using True Results in Richardson for my 6 months diet visit, EKG, psych eval and bloodwork all done - however, when I decided to change from lapband I have asked their office to change me to sleeve and since my last visit is on Aug 1 - I've asked them to change it to their sister location in Hurst as the surgeon (John Mardsen) is still affiliated with True Results but also does the sleeve surgery. So far, I can't get the imcompetent morons at the richardson TR facility to return my calls - getting really irritated as I don't want ANY more delays. I have already checked with my insurance and they cover sleeve as well and there are NO additional testing and such to go through. Will call every day till they resolve this..what a pain to be so close and being held up by morons. sorry had to vent I am 50, single with 2 kids - Natasha 24 and son Joshua 22. Two wonderful grandkids from my daughter. trying to find someone is the DFW area who has also used True Results....did a search - nothing. -
OMG - it would make you seem that everyone who has been banded over 6 yrs all start developing problems.... they are awful on that site - to one another especially. Did it scare me, hell yes..... now really wondering about the band and the real long term aspects of having a foreign body inside me..... seems like so many are getting revised to the sleeve. wish i would of never seen that website.

Protein Shakes?
mufasas-mom replied to Changing B4YourEyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought the GNC brand called amplified wheybolic extreme 60 had it with milk and yummy. Now i know i can handle the shakes -
Hello - i'm one visit away (Aug. 1) from having my docs sent for insurance approval and obtaining my surgery date. I am really concerned with True Results as their facility (surgery center, not general offices) is NOT a part of my UHC Bariatric approved surgery centers - nor can my insurance advocate with UHC find them anywhere on her database. True Results keeps telling me that they will bill In Network and all will be fine....but that doesn't sound legal to me. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? i've emailed the 'insurance expert' at TR and placed a read receipt on the email -so I know that she opened it up and read it, but has yet to reply to me. I've also left 2 voicemails for her - I'm getting pretty pissed at this point and am thinking of obtaining my records from them and going elsewhere that i know is covered with my UHC Bariatric program.

Are There Any Bad Side Effects After The Sleeve?
mufasas-mom posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As I have posted in other posts - I've decided on the sleeve over lap-band for many reasons. My question is, are there lots of bad side effects from the sleeve like with the band (i.e. stuck episodes, flipped port, etc) I know that there is no port or foreign object involved with this surgery (which thrills me to no extent) -but wondering what types of things may be down the road that I wish I would of known about ahead of time. From what I've been reading there appear to be no really bad after effects....you are able to digest normally, you eat much smaller portions, you avoid the foods that got you here in the first place and get your Protein in daily, exercise and hydrate. am i missing something??? -
Wondering At The Variety Of Drs Orders
