13+ Months Out, Still Struggling
isntsheclever replied to isntsheclever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for all of the encouragement, guys. I know what I need to do. I'm just having a hard time making myself do what I need to do. I'm sure that's very frustrating to hear. Lol. I feel like I'm just as bad as those "I had surgery 12 hours ago, when can I eat a Big Mac?" questions. D'oh! I do think it's time to get back to the structured eating from before. Protein shake for breakfast, some sort of protein morning snack, etc. Again, thanks for the encouragement!! -
13+ Months Out, Still Struggling

I'm in a weird spot with my husband. Obviously, he loves me and wants me to be happy. And I certainly wouldn't say that he tries to sabotage me. He needs to lose weight himself, he knows it and has expressed a desire to do so. He just doesn't exactly help provide an environment that support my success. There is absolutely one side of me that says I just need to man up and take care of myself and leave him to fend for himself. But the other side of me wants to get him involved in the process. -

13+ Months Out, Still Struggling
isntsheclever replied to isntsheclever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's funny that it took having the surgery for me to really realize that I had a food addiction. This is definitely the thing that I don't know how to fix. I know how I'm supposed to eat, exercise, etc. I just don't know how to wrap my head around the emotional/mental stuff that I now know I need to deal with... -

Lol. We are not cows! I think I need to buy a timer and set it before I start a meal. The timer goes off and whatever isn't finished gets thrown away...!! -

Here goes. This is my first time back on VST in MONTHS! I'm struggling. I'm over 13 months out and have only lost about 55lbs. I started my journey at 345lbs. Got down to 279lbs, and now I'm back up to 289lbs. I am a real-life WLS failure. I don't exercise. I eat things I shouldn't. I keep food in front of me for long periods of time, so that I end up grazing all day. Basically, I break all the rules. I'm not asking WHY I'm not losing weight. I'm just trying to see if there's anyone out there who was in a situation similar to mine and was able to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and ended up being a success... I can't relate to all the people (seemingly everyone on here) who get full after a few tbsp of food and who love to exercise all day. Is there anyone out there who can relate to this?

Rockstar/Monster/Redbull

I drink Monster Rehab, the lemonade + tea flavor. It's not carbonated. -
I had diarrhea for the first two weeks or so. It resolved after transitioning to a solid diet. I was advised that it's a fairly normal thing.

Having Surgery Sept 5.. Having The Last Supper Syndrome.. Help!
isntsheclever replied to salpal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, too, put myself through many "food funerals" before surgery. I very honesty felt like after the surgery I would never be able to eat "normal" food again. I know now, of course, that isn't the case. But at the time I didn't have the same perspective I have now. My pre-op diet was only 10 days. And I did cheat a few times. But the fear of messing up the surgery was enough to keep me on track most of the time. I know now that I have a huge emotional relationship with food. I turned to food when I was happy, sad, bored, watching TV, at work, driving... The list goes on and on. Food was my best friend. Food replaced sex in my marriage. I say all of that to say this. Breaking unhealthy habits is SO hard to do. Don't beat yourself up. Reach out to your surgeons office, to a therapist. Make sure that you're not putting yourself in undue danger by going forward with surgery when you haven't followed the pre-op diet. That's the most important thing here. Then, focus on being kind to yourself. Eating according to your doctor's plan is the nicest thing you can do for yourself. -
Butterthebean is not 3 days post OP. Reread the post.

I would think melba and crispy toast, when well chewed, would break down much like a cracker or chip. And those are sliders for many people. So it seems like your doctor thinks it'll be easy for you to chew those foods to the point of harmless mush.

Grocery Store Melt Down..
isntsheclever replied to jhbk2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have break downs in the grocery store all the time! Mostly, it's because we don't have dinner plans and NOTHING sounds good. Sure, i could get some crap frozen thing, or skettios, but then i won't merry my protein goal and I'll just be hungry again shortly after eating. I'm at a point where I can eat whatever I want (in small portions), but I often find myself overwhelmed by the abundance of unhealthy crap at the grocery store... -

Everyone heals differently. -
I'm around 1200-1300. Losing phase. I get 100GM or more of protein per day.
