Help With Preparing Meals Post Op.
isntsheclever replied to mommyinneed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During my full liquid stage I absolutely lived off of two dishes. One was a tomato bisque my mother in law made, with cottage cheese added for extra protein. The other was ricotta mixed with pizza sauce. Both eaten warm. -
3 Weeks Post Ope And Stalled For 2 Weeks Now! :(
isntsheclever replied to bella143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I'm the mushy stage. Really, I'm eating everything except raw fruits/veggies. I just make sure to chew really well. But I'm still not doing well with getting my calories in... Who knew my problem would go from eating too much to eating too little? lol -
3 Weeks Post Ope And Stalled For 2 Weeks Now! :(
isntsheclever replied to bella143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in a similar situation. I'm almost at 4 weeks and I don't think I've lost more than a pound or two in the last two weeks. It's incredibly frustrating. What i'm being told is that 1) I'm not drinking enough water and 2) I'm not eating enough protein. These two things are likely making my body hold on to all my calories (aka "starvation mode"). Up until now I hadn't been tracking what I ate because I was eating so little. Well, now I realize I need to track to make sure I'm eating (and drinking) enough. I hope this helps! -
Pre-Op Two Week Liquid Diet

Good luck!! I did like the lemon tea, because it was so different and a nice break from all the super sweet stuff. I really hope you like them!! -
Pre-Op Two Week Liquid Diet
isntsheclever replied to strawberryblue's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
now that i'm post-op, i really prefer the flavors that are good mixed with milk. that would be chocolate truffle, vanilla bean torte, strawberry mousse and Cappuccino. i'm sure i would love the double stuffed cookie flavor, too, however it's the only flavor that's not gluten free. as far as the flavors that are mixed with Water, i like the twisted cherry and the lemonade the most. post-op i cannot stomach the strawberry kiwi. i almost threw up... -
I am almost 3 Weeks out and am able to eat almost everything I've tried, but I'm trying to stick to mostly mushy food for awhile longer. Does anyone have an idea for a soft side dish I could take to Easter? Potatoes are already being done. Thanks in advance!

I am posting here to bump the thread up and hopefully get more responses. I'm having a terrible time with this as well. I did so much research pre op, and was happy with what I bought (or so I thought). I ended up with Bariatric Advantage Sublingual Vitamin B12, Celebrate Calcium PLUS 500, and Celebrate Vitamins Multivitamin Chewable. The B12 isn't bad. It's cherry flavored, and doesn't make me nauseous. The multivitamin is ok flavor-wise, but it does make me nauseous. And the calcium is just awful. They are huge, and I'm supposed to take 3 a day. I'm lucky if I can get one down. They make me so sick to my stomach. And that's even when I make a point to take them on a full stomach. I would love to hear what other people are taking!

What Would You Consider Being The Worst Thing About This Surgery?
isntsheclever replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The worst part for me is not being able to chug water, and not being able to drink while eating. I used to be able to get a good 100oz of water in a day. I'm 3 weeks post op and now I'm luck if I can get 40oz in a day. Other than that, it's been great so far. -
Reactive Hypoglycemia? Might Need A Quick Response Before I Wake Up My Neighbors!
isntsheclever replied to lighteningbug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I explained that I am sensitive to sugar alcohols (all the SF crap), my peeps gave me the ok to consume sugar, so long as it was in responsible amounts. I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on tv. But I'm going to guess that if you need it, a bit of apple juice will do you no harm. Though I'd suggest you stay away from oj, just from a comfort perspective. -
The ricotta bake is what saved me. Also, I mix small curd cottage cheese into my soups. It ups the protein as well as giving a little texture while still remaining soft on my tummy.

I forgot, eggs are being done too!

To Tell Or Not To Tell?
isntsheclever replied to gettinthinner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am vlogging on youtube. So I thought it would be silly to try and keep it a secret from people in my day to day life. Also, several people in my family have had wls. It's become a very normal part of my life. The more people I talk to about my own surgery, the more I hear that they know one or two people who have also had wls. Someone I know has decided to start their own journey towards wls based off of me being open about my experience. That alone makes all the 'haters' worth it. I completely understand why people choose to keep it to themselves. It's a sensitive topic. And the general public can often be mean, or at least unsupportive. But I am choosing to be open, and so far I don't regret it. -
Full Liquid Stage Suggestions
isntsheclever replied to chyna86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While on full liquids. I know that it doesn't count at a full liquid, no matter how well chewed it is. I'm not recommending anyone follow my example. But I am being honest about what I've tried, and what has worked for me!! -
honestly, the whole process has been easier than i feared it would be. and i HATE nausea and vomiting!! Congrats and good luck!!
-
i have not thrown up at all (except for the day after surgery, but that had nothing to do with eating, it was just nausea from the anesthesia). and the only time i have discomfort is when i try and eat more than a bite or two of solid food. i imagine it's just because it's still early and my healing stomach prefers the liquids.

It's going alright. I'm testing it more than I should. But I'm getting used to it... I'm in the full liquid stage now. Have another week to go.

Full Liquid Stage Suggestions

It was the only thing on the menu that sounded like it could be chewed up reallyreally well. I was right! -

I Am Crazy Hungry!
isntsheclever replied to crazycravings's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was much hungrier, and more often, when I was on clear liquids. Now I'm on full liquids (and occasionally a bit of mushies) and I've noticed that I get hungry less often. The thing about grehlin taking time to leave the body totally makes sense, too. -
Full Liquid Stage Suggestions
isntsheclever replied to chyna86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in full liquid also. My mother in law made me an awesome soup full of veggies, and I mix cottage cheese into it to up the protein count. Also, as I've been craving pizza, I've been having ricotta mixed with pizza sauce and warmed up. My mom made a coconut milk/lime brothy kind of soup that has rice noodles in it. The rice noodles got VERY soggy and go down very easily. I'm also loving applesauce. I pushed it tonight and had some chile relleno (a mushy bell pepper w/ cheese). That seemed to go down alright. I don't know how anyone would get through the full liquids stage without soup, though. Only because I can't think of any other options!! Good luck!! -
I had the same issue. But walking is actually the only thing that seemed to help. It's like it loosened up the tight tissue or something. I'm 11 days post op and actually made a comment today about how you can hardly notice my 2nd bellybutton anymore.
