March 16 th I will be 6 mo post op and have only lost a total of 39 lbs but I have lost 36 inches overall as of December. I have gone from a size 18 pants to a 12! From an 2xl shirt into a large but I have @ 45 more lbs to go & havens lost a pound one in @ 6 weeks now. What can I do to get over this hump? Suggestions greatly appreciated! LaQuita

Hello, I am at the hosptial with our 23 yo special health needs DD. SHe will be in for 3-5 days. I brought some oatmeal with me and some Soups that I have in a cooler. But what else can I eat from .......the hospital cafeteria that would be okay for me 6 weeks out? SUggestions? Thanks in advance for the help everyone. LaQuita

Hello, I was so encouraged and excited by the fact our insurance BCBS/tennessee was so open & easy to work with WLS patients. I had all m y 'clearance' work done, paper work sent in, and 5 years past BMI being over 40 THEN BAM! The year I had a band, I'd lost over 40 pounds, during THAT year my BMI dropped to be under 40. The insurance requires that I ahve 5 consecutive years of a BMI over 40! I am heart broken, yet, have peace, the Lord will work this out. I do have high choloestral and have had since 06' BUT no one has ever put me on medicatin for it, they all wanted me to 'try weight loss' first. Please pray with me & for me as I am SO VERY DICSOURAGED right now.

This time last week I was in surgery! But this morning I woke up, weighed for only the 2nd time this week. (Really) And I still have not lost any weight! I had mentioned this to our ins coordinator when she called to check on me a couple of days back and she said not to worry as long as I was doing everythng I should and could like I was supposed to the WEIGHT WOULD COME OFF. She said they filled me full of IV's and meds and .............. But I have not lost anything! Come on Just looking for sme encouragment, if this has happened to you PLEASE let me know. I am hoping & praying that I will wake up one morning and WALALALAL . Is that asking a bit too much?? Thanks for the support & Encouragment everyone! LaQuita

WALK WALK WALK WALK WALK that is the along with eating/drinking (sipping) your Protein. I am 4 days post op as of a few hours ago (I coulnd't sleep so I og tup to catch up on things here) Hope you feel better soon,

I agree with made2beme, the reasons she listed were what my Dr told me , was the reason he preferred me not to drink while eating. Thirty min before or after. HTH

When I went in Thursday to stRt stRt surgery I weighed 215 now they weighed me this AM & I weigh 221!!! Is it v/ c of all the IVs. I still have a Cather in so I know I'm peeing a lot. Any thought / siggestiona why I would weigh more? Thanks everyone!

Lord willing this time tomorrow I willbe out of surgery and in a room recovering! WOOHOOO I am supposed to be at the hospital by 8:45 for them to take me back by 10:30 but we all know how that goes! I am excited yet nervous too, I have had the band (2x) but had it removed due to prolapse. I am praying that I will ahve NO leaks or complications with the sleeve. My Dr said that since I had had 2 previous bands that my 'leak' rate doubled. It went from 1% to 2%. I jsut don't wnat any complications. I know n o one does either. So after tomorrow I will no longet be a PRE but a POST surgical sleever. This is ONE CLUB I am HAPPY to join!!! LaQuita aka TXMIMI

My husband works out of state 48 of the 52 weeks a year. We normally try and plan things like this. But this all happened so fast, that he'd already had his schedule / flights/ ...... booked 3 weeks out. I told him to go on and go b/c I had a girlfriend that was taking the day off to come be with me. Well.......I just found out that she will be leaving shortly before noon to go take her son to Sophmore orientation. They won't even take me back until 10:30 ish.... So I won't even be out of surgery before she leaves!!! this was one of the main reasons for her being there, so someone would be with me during surgery and then they could call my hubby with the report afterwards. I am so bummed. Our oldest daughter lives an hour away and has our 16 mo GS, so a hosptial for hours is no place for her/him to be. Our youngest daughter is 23 & still lives at home b/c she has multiple health probelms. She isn't even staying at home alone while I am in the hosptial and until hubby get home Friday afternoon, she is going over to a friends house. I am at a loss as to what to do. Suggestions?

Me too Me too, Tomorrow at 10:30AM I should be going back. (we all know how that goes though right?) I too am excited and yet nervous at all the changes I expect my body to make! I am having my surgery done THis Thursday (yeah me!) Anyway the last 2-3 days since I have been on liquids and now clear liwuids, after drinking SOME Proteins I feel like I have this lump in my throat. It eventually goes away after a few hours, but it's just there. Anyone else feel this way? What is it? Also, after drinking I have LOTS of burping (no I am not using a straw) is all this possibly from my stomach already shrinking some or what? thanks everyone for the help/suggestions, Blessings for a restful night, LaQuita AKA TxMimi

Well well, to my surprise I have 'shrunk'. All these years I thought I was 5'2 and I am with tennis shoes on! LOL But at my surgeons office they measure without shoes and I am 5'1. (helps with BMI they say) So, I am scheduled for THIS Thursday in Mansfield Texas with Dr Dyslin. I start Clear liquids tomorrow...... woooohooo can't wait! I got my surgery date today .... Next Thursday the 16th!!! Woohoo I have been 5'2 forever..... But when I went to the Dr & had someone measure me I'm actually 5'1. Which helped in getting my surgery approved ! Anymore 16th sleeve buddies out there? LaQuita
