So congrats to your compassionate and wonderful son for noticing such a huge milestone for you.... -

water makes me nausious...but vitawater is fine, and juices watered down are good. Brown sugar content things caused me to dump, so I try to not used brown sugar when eating oatmeal or cornmeal mush....

My Mexico Dr. asked if I wanted it fixed he would do it as a courtousy while he was in there...takes about 10 minutes he said...but we discussed the weight loss issues and the heavy skin after the loss of 150 - 200 lbs, he said it was better to let them tummy tuck at same time and lose even more because they cut all that loose skin off your size changes as does your weight due to the reconstruction and because of the skin removal... So I'm definately on board with that in a year or so...Also my hernia has been better after 50 lbs of weight loss...does not bother me quite as much now after WLS. Good Luck!

Wow!!! I love this forum!!! I had my surgery in Mexico...My husband never wanted to talk about it, did not wish to think about it...UNTIL the very morning I was set to leave....He came into the kitchen from the bedroom as I was writing him a love letter for him to read when i was gone....He said to me "Oh writing out your last will and testament' Having unneccessary surgery in a third world country...not so very smart" and he walked out the door to head off to work. Did not kiss me did not hug me did not say good luck nothing he just left...Now let's talk about unsupportive....well he takes the cake. I am a christian woman and have decided I am going to pray for him, I have been given a book "The Power of a Praying Wife" and man is it good. I am learning alot about myself and in the process I believe the Lord will change in me the things that my husband will notice and he will want to be a part of the woman he married 20 plus years ago. I love him deeply with all my heart but sometimes I do not like him very much. He can be uncaring and say things with a tone that are very condiscending and it would have been better had he not opened his trap at all. While I was away at surgery, he told out 12 yr old that mom could not do this and it was just a huge waste of money that mom would always be fat...Of course my 12 yr old really did not know how exactly to process this information so he asked me why dad would say such a thing when I was trying so hard. NOW what do you tell a child after that?

I have a hernia and I chose to leave it for a later date after my weight loss, as with many hernia surgeries if there is to much loose skin they must do a "tummy tuck" with it to ensure the hernia does not rip or tare after repair...the heavy skin is to much....So I am looking forward to our insurance paying for my hernia and tummy tuck in the process....Yahoo!!

Cellulite And Weight Loss
gramaof4 replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I've only lost 50 lbs since surgery and I am begining to notice a little loose skin and a bit more pronounced cellulite...not sure anyway to get rid of that other than thru exercise and a bit of plastic. -
I had heartburn daily before my sleeve...Since my sleeve I felt I might have a hint and took a prilosec immediately and waLa it never reared it's ugly head!

Drain Removal Question
gramaof4 replied to amsterjonathon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My drain was removed on day 2 and it did not hurt at all...If you go to my gallery you will see a photo of drain in and drain out. I did however, feel so much better after the removal of the drain. But in no way did it hurt...felt a little like going down a hill to fast maybe...LOL -
I had a high protein diet on my own (not surgeon induced) and then when I came closer to the date like 3 days I had lunch, dinner, dinner, breakfast with all of my friends and family as I was mourning the loss of my food....Guess what??? I do not miss food at all. My hunger is totally gone, I know must set my alarm to remind me to eat food, so I can survive ...and the best part is I am still losing weight...49 lbs in 6 weeks Yeah!

Surgery Biggest Mistake Of Life!
gramaof4 replied to Shelby21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was given prilosec to take immediately after surgery...I took 2 capsules and emptied them into a spoon and took them with a sip of Water the little granuales go down with no troubles...works well for me... I on the other hand had Zip ZERO pain period with my surgery...I had my surgery in Mexico and had some great docs....and if any of the girls had concerns or needed extra time they kept them there at the hospital,,,,even did extra leak testing just to ease the mind of one gal. I would say call your surgeon and do not settle for anything less than satisfaction and pain relief. -

How Did You Come To Your Decision?
gramaof4 replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had researched and my PCP suggested I go see a local Dr. and attend a seminar....(of course NO INSURANCE)...I went to the seminar...then when I had saved $900 I made an apt. with him. He took my $900 and sent me to see a physciatrist $250 (to make sure I wasn't crazy and couldn't handle the surgery) Then he gave me some lab sheets $275 and set me up for a $400 sleep test...well this was all Pre-Op...$1825...then he tells me I will need to pay him $13,000 and the hospital will be a separate charge (all of this was initially for a Lap Band Not the Sleeve).... I gave up at this point.....I could never come up with another $20,000 for Hospital and doctor to do the surgery...so I let it go another 3 years and gained another 56 lbs...and allowed my BMI to grow as well. I have a girlfriend in the same town as me who had had the lapband done by Dr. Aceves in Mexicalli...she raved of his professionalism and care and the care and compasion of his entire staff. I then began to research the doctor myself....My sister (who is bi-lingual) lives 15 minutes from Mexicali, my mom is right there so she could come help care for me if needed....so for me it was alot of different elements that made me choose Mexico.... The hospital was clean, smelled clean, and the nurses were wearing whites and were way put together professionally. They all treated us American Women as if we were Godessess....I myself loved it...Would choose to go back 1000 times again and again.... -
My Pcp Is Not Supportive At All & Made Me Worried Now!
gramaof4 replied to NJsharon's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I also went to Mexico, and while I was there I observed noting but over cleanliness...the people came every 2-3 hours to empy garbages that had nothing in them still from the last time, And to mop the floors when I hadn't even walked on them since tha last time they were in there. I did see however alot of common sence from my doctor and his team....Yes there is NO HIPA laws that apply...they pulled all of us women in one room and gave the dr. speech ONCE, and the Nutricianist speech ONCE, and the anastesia speech ONCE.... and questions from all at once...if the docs each had taken the time individually...they could of milked another day of money outta all of us...nope getter' done is there motto... I was treated like a queen my 3 day stay at the Mexicall Almater Hospital...if you look in my gallery there are photo's of the hospital and how clean it really was. Funny thing about USA is there are so many law suits the docs have to carry an ungodly amount of malpractice insr. Mexico not so much....We can reap the benefit of them not having so much political BS to climb over. I would go back to Mexico 1000 times over again....NO HESITATION Good Luck don't let your PCP Bully you....My doc emails me regularly and has support either email or telephone. He was awesome, Dr. Aceves, Mexicalli MX
