I was banded in March of this year and have lost 60 lbs without any exercise, but now I really NEED to start a regular exercise program and wonder what those of you over sixty ( I'm 65 ) are doing. Walking, swimming ? Any ideas about what works for you would really be appreciated ! Thank you in advance for your help. :help:

I am 65, but was banded around the same time as you were and I'm also 5'8" and have lost 60lbs now. I was just wondering what a typical day for you is eating wise. I'm trying to get some new ideas. If you or anyone else has any ideas and would like to email me, my address is: Doingitforme01@aol.com Thanks in advance for any help you all can giver me.

:help: Hi - I was hoping someone can help me. I'm looking for a book that I thought I saw someone mention here. I think it's called " Living with a Lapband ". Does anyone know if this is the correct title and if so ,where can a get a copy ? Thanks !

Thanks to all of you for helping me find the book. Sounds like some liked it and others didn't. A friend of mine told me about it so I thought I'd check it out. Thanks again !

:help: Boo Boo - you have done a great job so I wouldn't worry about the negative stuff the doctor said. You know your own body and know how you feel. Obviously all the exercise has really helped. If you don't mind would you tell me some of your " favorite" things to eat? I am 6 months out and always looking for new meal ideas. Anyone else please feel free to add any help you can ! Thanks very much !

How is weight loss for people over 50?
butterflylover replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks to all of you for your encouragement. It sounds like once you get past the nerviousness of the surgery and it's all over, most people are glad they were banded and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's just a complete new life change and takes some getting use to. In this case the good definitely outweighs. Good luck to all of you. Cblancha9: Let me know when you get everything done and have a banding date. It will be here before you know it !. -
How is weight loss for people over 50?
butterflylover replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi everyone- Just wanted to say that after a " little " nerviousness I went thru with it on 3-21 and am happy to join all of you who have had this done. I have to admit that while I was lying in recovery I said more than once " what have I done " but now know that I made a very good decision. I want to lose this weight and look and feel much better. Other than pain around the port sight ( especially when getting out of bed, etc. ) I feel ok. No gas pains, just a lot of stomach rumbling, passing gas and burping --- this is normal, right ? Please let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas for a good recovery. Thanks in advance to all of you. Anne -

I want to get rid of this weight once and for all. Thanks ! Anne -
How is weight loss for people over 50?
butterflylover replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Cblancha9, Glad to " meet" you ! I just turned 65 in Jan. and will be banded on 3-21 ( it's almost here ). I am going to the hospital in the morning for my pre-op tests and 2 hr. pre-surgery class. It's getting a little " too real " cause up until last Fri. I didn't have a date and all of a sudden it's here. I don't think I'll have any regrets about doing it cause I am so tired of losing and then gaining again. This is just the tool I need to help me. I just wish they were doing the lap band yrs ago. Let me know what the doc says. It's a first step so you are on your way. Where do you live and who is your surgeon going to be > Talk to ya later and defintely let's keep in touch. Anne -
How is weight loss for people over 50?

Hi - can someone please tell me how to put a ticker on your sig. page? I went to tickerfactory and created a ticker and then couldn't do anything with it. Think I might be having a " senior" moment -/ Anne -
Hi Nan- Just go to or-live.com and you can watch the lap band procedure. I have seen it a couple times and it's just like standing right in the operating room and watching. Very interesting ! Some people might not want to watch because it's very graphic but I wanted to see exactly what the operation was all about. Let me know what you think. Anne ( Doingitforme01aol.com )

Hello Ohio, let's get this started
butterflylover replied to linadu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm fairly new here and have not yet been banded so I have a question of all of you who have had the procedure -- I have heard two different things about gas pains. Some say there weren't any problems and others say that they had quite a bit, but things like Gas-X. etc helped a lot. Just wondered what your experiences were like! Thanks. Anne :nervous -
Hi Carolyn, I went to the Ohio group but couldn't find your personal e-mail or private message. Maybe I am just having a " senior " moment ! Would you please resend the e-mail to my regular e-mail address: Doingitforme01@aol.com It's much easier that way and if you don't mind give me your address and we can " talk " ! Thanks -- hope to talk to you soon. Anne

Hi everyone ! I am 65 and currently going thru the steps to be banded. I have some questions especially of Carolyn (Ohioraintreeacres) . She is the one closest to my age. I just wondered how you are doing ? I am also going to Dr. Schumacher at Kettering Bariatrics and really like both him and his whole staff. Have you gone to a support meeting yet? I understand that they are very helpful. If anyone else here is close to my age please let me know how things went with you and if you have any regrets. Thanks in advance for the help ! Anne
