  1. ^^^ I drink 1 - 2 of these everyday. They are delicious. You can even dump in a little instant coffee tube, put your thumb over the opening and shake like crazy to add a different flavor. Chocolate's my favorite.
  2. I chose the sleeve over the bypass because it's the simplest operation of the two. No re-routing of my guts. I did a lot of research about the sleeve and found that the sleeve used to be part one of a two part surgery. Doctors discovered that the majority of patients lost enough weight on the sleeve portion that they didn't require the second step. Also with the sleeve, there is less likely hood of dumping syndrome (yes, sleevers can dump). Your sleeve cannot stretch (true!) and sleevers don't have the malabsorption issues that gastric bypassers do. I did research for three years before making my decision and I recommend everyone do their own research. Talk to patients, go to support groups before surgery. Talk to surgeons, nurses who work with WLS patients. Talk to dieticians who work with WLS patients. Read on forums like VST.com. Watch youtube videos, etc. Gosh, I hope that doesn't sound to preachy!

    Does Anyone Have Any Regrets?

No regrets! I'm 37 days post op, down 35 lbs, no acid reflux, no problems. You will find lots of people who haven't been through the surgery who don't understand and will think you are crazy, but listen to those of us that have. There can be complications, but don't worry about those, just follow your doctor's instructions and don't worry about the progress you make versus what others make. Your journey is your own.
  5. You should really check with your doctor.
  6. I should mention that liquid protein sources can vary wildly in calorie ranges, depending on brands and what type of protein you are doing. I have 4 different proteins that range from 80 calories - 150 calories.
  7. Protein & fluids should be your concerns. Just follow your doctor's orders and everything will fall into place.

    Pickles/relish - When Can I Have?

day 8 post op I pureed tuna and put pickles and spicy peppers in it. I just ran the pickles & peppers through my mini food processor. No problems for me.

    Watching Ppl Eat Is Gross

I can't eat with anyone right now. My husband used to eat so slow I thought, but now he disgusts me. I'm wondering where his table manners went.

    Grits And Eggs!

I've been craving shrimp & grits too. Southern girls unite!
  11. Moisture and a hand blender will be your best friends. You can try to puree the chicken with chicken broth to thin it out. I'm loving eggs scrambled with refried Beans, but the thought of eggs any other way make me want to gag. I used to love poached eggs, but I just can't stomach the idea right now. It gets better, I'm 18 days post op (omg already??). So far I can eat eggs, refried beans, chili, Soups of all kinds, cottage cheese, and tried a bite of crabcake, flounder and roasted chicken from my husband's plate. So far the stolen bites went ok, but they were really small. oh and the cottage cheese, I pureed it with the hand blender.
  12. Go check out theworldaccordingtoeggface.com she has tons of recipes for all phases. One of my current favorites is refried beans scrambled with egg and cheese topped with hot sauce. You could make mini casseroles - put your protein in the bottom, top with a tablespoon or so of cream soup, then add cheese, heat until warm. Or protein in bottom, add refried beans, top with cheese, heat until warm top with hot sauce. Yum!

    14 Days Post Op

I had similar pain a few days ago, I'm 16 days post op. I talked to my nurse about it and she said to take it easy, apply moist heat and that it's totally normal pain.

    Wfl?

16 days post op shakes all day & 1 meal for supper, I had cheesy mashed potatoes (so good!)
  15. HI Princess, I'm two weeks post op and am eating scrambed eggs, cottage cheese, tuna salad (pureed), refried Beans. I can eat about 2 oz, so it's not a lot, but it's my one meal a day and I'm enjoying it. Oh and I put shredded cheese on my eggs & beans. Tonight for supper I scrambled refried beans, eggs & cheese all together and topped it off with taco sauce. SO GOOD! I also eat cream Soups, homemade stocks & soups, Protein shakes and sugar free popsicles. This weekend I'm going to have chili (pureed & possibly thinned out)! I can't wait!
