I know its a personal choice to tell or not . But can i say that had a Facebook friend not been open with me about how she lost the weight i wouldnt have looked into the surgery. Because of her honesty it gave me hope. And thats why im so open about it.

THAT'S WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING LOL!!! I don't get it...but I will say I have told many obese people about sleevie and they snob their noses at it. I've heard NO WAY 85% of my stomach is too crazy, or I will ask God to help me take it off the RIGHT way, etc. etc. etc. So to each his own I guess...All I can say is I THANK GOD for my sleevie

This is really encouraging data sleeve family! Thank you! So far, so good with me. Still bouncing back and forth 1-3 lbs. Before I could easily gain 5 lbs. in ONE DAY! EASILY! And that was with some restraint even ...So I just can't tell you how grateful I am for my sleevie wonder sniff, sniff.

    Hello everyone,
I know I have not been on here in a while but I just wanted to give and update on my progress. Word of encouragement, hang in there. I've been sleeved over a year and I'm still losing weight. I was stuck at 170 for over 6 months and I honestly thought that was it but finally the stall broke. I'm very happy and now I'm living my life again. I have taken back everything that the Devil stole from me. I'm walking in victory.

diedie reacted to The.new.g in How do you get over feeling like this is crazy?
That is a very interesting question. In a way, I don't think I ever did get over thinking it's crazy, either when I was banded or now...I guess I just got more comfortable with the idea that I had a serious problem and it called for a serious solution. The data is compelling to me. I see the statistics for non-surgical weight loss (what all of us tried before WLS) and surgical weight loss and the data is compelling. Of course, it's also hard because the data that was available when we were banded wasn't exactly how things turned out for many of us. But I didn't want RNY then and I don't want it now...so I get over the "crazy" part by looking at the numbers and my own history and my family history of obesity.
I hope that helps. Interesting "food for thought!"

    Hey guys,
Just wanted to share some pics, cuz we all love it when others share pics! . This is my first time sharing photos, aside from my avatar. I'm 9 months out of surgery as of yesterday, and initially, I was having my hubby take pictures every month. I kinda fell off over the summer, but finally remembered to have him snap a few this morning. I cried a little when I put the 'before' and 'after' side by side. I was self pay, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Rejoicing over here!! Woot!
p.s. not sure if I'm doing this right, so hopefully there are pictures here!

Julie-I feel the same way. I thought that since I started with a much higher BMI that I would lose faster. Doesn't seem to be the case.
It's hard not to get discouraged. People will say "Every loses at their own rate", which, while true doesn't make me feel any better. For once couldn't I be the one who loses faster!!
I lost 24 pounds in my two weeks liquid pre-op. Then only like 22 my first month!! I lost that much doing WW and i got to eat all day everyday.
I just try to keep telling myself- at least the weight is going in the right direction Down! for a change. And I keep telling myself that it will happen, even if i lose slower than others (especially the men!!!)
It's especially hard for me- because I know from past experience that even when I lose 100# you can barely tell. Because I have so much to lose I don't get the NSV's that others do short term. When I lost the 100# before I didn't even go down a bra size or a clothes size! Yes, I felt better and was able to do more physical activity, but I didn't have anyone coming up to me and telling me how great I looked-whereas some people exhibit noticeable changes after only 30 or 50 lbs.
So just try and think it doesn't matter how slow it's coming off-at least it's coming off. And we really can't compare ourselves to others-metabolisms vary-what we eat varies-amount of physical activity-even age plays a big part.
Hang in there and keep working the plan and we will both get there on our own time. Slow and Steady Wins the Race!

Baseballmom, I think I have finally broke my stall! For the past week I have been working out, sometimes twice a day making sure that I burn at least 700 or more calories. I'll go from treadmill to circuit to the elliptical to insanity!!! In addition I'm having a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch and fish for dinner and a salad if I have room. Oh and I'm drinking way more Water. I'm now down to 207 hoping to onederland very soon!!! Good luck hope this helps!

I had the lapband in 2009. Starting weight was 288, lost 60 pounds then gained almost all back. Got the LapBand revised to the Gastric Sleeve in June 2010. Starting weight was 279 now I'm 195! So to sum it up, I'm 7 months post op and I'm down 84 pounds since then, but down 93 pounds overall. Patience is key...Up your Protein, and strength training/cardio. I feel sexier now, love shopping and feeling/looking young like I should!...Forever blessed! Good luck to you all!

I have a Krispy Kreme donut every now and then. I dont deprive myself. That is not why I had this surgery. I started this journey at a size 24 and now I am a size 8 and counting down. I always eat Protein first and treat myself usually one day a week. So far so good. Good luck to you.

I have enjoyed reading this thread, but probably for a different reason than all of you. I just want to give a shout out of encouragement to you all. Six months ago I too was on here posting all the things that I wanted to do (or not do) when I got thin. Tonight I was able to read through all of your posts and check off all of my accomplishments. IT IS AWESOME!! I am enjoying things now that I never would have even dreamed of this time last year. I go for my 6 month post op tomorrow and I am down 111# total. If I can do it, you can too. Sooo, ROCK THOSE SLEEVES PEOPLE!! WOOHOO!!

I'm about nine months out, and I plan to sample a little of everything. I'm the one doing all the cooking, so I expect that by the time I'm finished "testing" everything as I go, I'll be full!
