The good thing about being a slow loser
Dyezee replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Me too, I am am a slow looser. I was sleeved 2 months ago and I have only lost 25 pounds. A little frustrated, but it is 25 less than I was 2 months ago. I lost 25 before surgery, so in total down 50 in 5 months. Right now I am 214, and my goal is 150, 64 more to go. My diet consists mostly of protiens and veggies. At this point I am able to eat table food. But they say slow and steady wins the race. Sent from my DROIDX using VST -
Hi folks out there. Had the surgery 3/21 and am beginning to regain lost energy. Still feel tired, but better. Have been struggling with slow weight loss. 18 pounds down since surgery, at least another 70 to go. I pray every day for patience. Have to admit I am envious of big loosers. Remind myself that it will come off. Can not walk as much as I would like becuse of herniated disk days before surgery. But did loose 26 on my own preop, and now another 20 postop. Was very nervous before surgery, but am glad I did it. To new to be able to offer any advise. Just happy for this forum. Sent from my DROIDX using VST

Hi CropQueen, well it is one month out and I am on to eating soft solid foods. I am learning to eat slowly and chew throughly. Am trying to learn to stop eating before really full. Have had some accidents where I have gotten sick, but they have been few. Still feel weak, and energy suplies are limited. Only problem is weight loss has been slow, have only lost 15 pounds in a month. My body seems to hold on to its weight. I am sticking to protiens and trying to stay away from carbs. Weight loss for me has been slow. Down now at 225, day of surgery 240. A little frustrated with weight loss, but I guess it will come with time. Thank you for your concern. Hi crop queen, thank you for your kind response. It has been 10 days and am feeling better. Your responses to me and others have been nurturing and much appreciated. The weight loss is coming along, down the initial Water weight gain and down another 12. Have felt sick a few times when I have drank to quickly, than have to remind myself to sip. This is definetly a life style change. Buy just wanted to say thank you. Sent from my DROIDX using VST Hi crop queen, thank you for your kind response. It has been 10 days and am feeling better. Well I decided to go ahead with the surgery on 3/21. It's five days out and I have not lost any weight. I actually gained 12 pounds of Water weight because of the IV. Experiencing a lot of gas and pain internally and the incisions still hurt. Been drinking super Protein shots water and chicken broth. Any suggestions? Hello everyone decide to go ahead and schedule the surgery. I'm scheduled for the 21st I'm very nervous I'm not still sure if this is the right thing to do. My height is 5 foot 8 and I weigh 240 pounds. What I started this process I was 266. I have this nagging feeling that I should do this on my own without going through surgery. Ideally I would like to be 140 but I would be happy at 180. Very very anxious is still on the fence. I'm convinced that the only way to really lose weight and keep it off is to just change my eating habits. Not trying to be judgemental but also concerned with being further stigmatized.. can someone please talk to me about the exhaustion after the surgery. I have a very stressful job and am concerned that I may not be able to return to work as quickly as I planned Sent from my DROIDX using VST

I guess I am just baffled as to how after surgery you can consume enough food to gain weight back. Can the stomach stretch back enough to consume that many calories? Sent from my DROIDX using VST

So how is the people can gain weight back if their stomach is still restricted? Is it possible to stretch the stomach back? One would think that if you ate too much you would throw up! Sent from my DROIDX using VST

Thank you for your response. I am concerned about being able to consume Fluid. Are you able to drink a glass of Water? I'm worried about dehydration. Sent from my DROIDX using VST

Wanted to post that in doing my research I contacted my cousin who is a nurse and also in her fifty's. I wanted to ask her advice about the procedure. Well to my surprise I found out did she is having her surgery on march ninth. What is the prize she and I are getting together this coming sunday to talk about it. I'm now scheduled to have the procedure on march 19th. Knowing that my cousin who is a nurse for over 25 years is having the procedure makes me feel that much more confident. When I meet with her this sunday I'm going to share this site with her. I am very grateful ladies and gentlemen for finding this site and being able to get on here, and post whatever concerns I may have had. Sent from my DROIDX using VST

UK Cathy I very much share your fears and concerns. I have the same voices going off in my head. I know one thing for sure, over eating has become such a way of life for me not sure how to break out of the rut. I have been 200 or more pounds for the last 10 years which is about 60 pounds over weight for me. In 1995 I weighed 220. Now in 2012, I was as high as 266. I am now 244 as I have lost weight and every day is a struggle. I am either over full, because I ate to much, or I am ravenous. My wish is to become not so preoccupied with food. I hope this surgery can help me with this. Sent from my DROIDX using VST

Communicating with all of you has been heaven sent, I'm so happy that I found this website. I have been so conflicted for the last 5 weeks and as I mentioned earlier I canceled my surgery date. I just got off the phone with my surgeon and scheduled to meet with him next week at 2 pm and I will make a decision after. I'm pretty confident that I could lose a significant part of my weight but do have a lot of fears about gaining it back. I seem to be a very slow loser but quick gainer. Sent from my DROIDX using VST

Queen I think you are writing my story. I want to be in a place where food does not occupy my every thought. I am struggling right now on weight watchers with a pound a week. A pound a week is good but I am always hungry. Maybe with the sleeve I wont feel hunger, or that gnawing sensation. To not feel deprived or crave something would be good. Do the cravings go away? Ladies thank you for your responses. I am appreciative of everyones responses. I can't shake this nagging feeling that I should be able to loose with out surgery, but of course I have been 250 plus for 10 years and am growing. I want to continue to read about everyones comments and updates and hopefully I will make the right decision. Sent from my DROIDX using VST

Lorip I am having it done in NJ where I live. My insurance approved it, which frankly shocked me. I figured they would deny me.
