Being prepared after surgery
feb27bandwoman replied to Beckeboo25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some ideas----- A lovely water bottle for sipping all day. A journal, or on-line diary to record/track your intake and your feelings. Pre-op photos and measurements for later comparison. Whatever foods your surgeon/ nutritionist recommend for post-op.Usually liquids, maybe puddings? Depends on your MD. Gas-X strips and a heating pad for potential post-op gas issues. Prescription for post-op pain medication. You can usually get this filled pre-op. Comfy, soft clothes to make you feel happy! Good luck! -
I think she is unaware of where she is posting. Certainly not a banded person.

Went to a breakfast/ brunch with family members who are unaware of my banding.....well, everything looked so good and smelled so good, that I loaded up my plate and headed back to the table. Well, my overweight family members were choking down, going back for seconds and thirds..... I was struggling to get a few bites in. No one noticed or said anything.... But, it was a lesson learned. Be kind to yourself and your new little stomach. Also be kind to your " head- hunger" and think before loading up that plate. In retrospect, I should have taken a dessert plate( yes, they actually had cannolis at the breakfast buffet!) and been much more selective in my choices....

Anyone else nave the post op pity party?
feb27bandwoman replied to finallytime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lovely post amysays!!!! I have felt the same way and cried before surgery over" how I'd I let this go so far?" Cried in husband's arms and sobbed about the painful knees, back, shame in looking at pictures, wasting so many years being fat and un healthy. He was/is very empathetic and held me till the sobbing subsided. Now, we are planning on a long and healthy second half of this new lease on life! -
Keeping it a secret
feb27bandwoman replied to sweetie__13's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I told only significant other and children. I did not want the judging and scrutiny from co workers. When they ask, I tell them I am eating less and exercising more. When they ask how I did it, I talk about the hard work and persistence, writing down every bite. I start to go on and on about it and I see that they are losing interest ... It is kind of a fun experience! When people start noticing the weight loss, they can be very persistent. But, it is a very personal experience for me and it is none of anyone's business. Only one person came right out and asked if I had had surgery, I calmly replied no and went on about the hard work I did, all the exercise, focusing on fresh fruits and vegetables.... His eyes glazed over and we went on to another topic! Remember, once you tell someone, you cannot " un-tell" them. There is no " swearing to secrecy". In general, I find that many people want to know wayyyyyy too much personal information about us. Not just related to weight and weight related issues. But, family issues, money, religion..... Just too much sharing . -
I truly miss a nice roast beef sandwich on a good bread with mayo and salt and pepper.... Mmmmmmm. But, I have replaced that delicious bread with a perfectly adequate toasted flatbread, much less roast beef and light mayo and mustard..... More of a " head change" Same satisfaction level. That head hunger gets me every once in a while.

How long has she been losing 1-2 pounds per day? Unbelievable that this is happening in Beverley hills, California.emphasis on the unbelievable part.

Sleep Study Time!
feb27bandwoman replied to ChicagoRose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First time I went for the sleep study, I figured no problem, I will fall asleep easily.... Hahaha! After 6 hours of not being able to fall asleep, maybe sleeping 10 minutes every hour or so..... It was 6 am and I think I said.... F thus, I'm done. Got rescheduled, did some research and took sleepy time tea, no caffeine all day prior, took Benadryl and NyQuil. Still had trouble, but they got enough results and everyone was happy. All in all, it was a miserable experience. -
Getting Stuck In Public Places!!! ??!
feb27bandwoman replied to dalia93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Got stuck in a wonderful BBQ place.... Food was yummy, but " food memories" got the better of me and I wolfed down too big a piece of roast pork. Sent me right to the bathroom for about 5-10 minutes. Embarrassing lesson learned. -
If you have been losing 1-2 pounds per day(!) for 2.5 years, you are in huge trouble! Bogus.

Your band does not slide anywhere.

I have put the peanut butter into an Unjury chocolate sake with a frozen banana.... Yum. The foods that I got stuck on we're: corned beef.... It was nice and soft and smelled soooooo good! I took a big piece and swallowed too quickly without chewing..... That landed me almost 5 hours of sliming, went through a full box of tissues and finally vomited the offensive little reddish shreds.... Lesson 1 learned.(I am a slow learner) Second was BBQ pork in a great restaurant. Again took too budpg a piece, too little wonderful BBQ sauce and swallowed without chewing enough..... Ended up in the bathroom. I am careful about soft bread and in general, try to focus on protein first. I can eat well-cooked asparagas and carrots. Beef stew continues to elude me, though. But, through all this, I have learned to be very careful and THIINK with my brain and remember the new stomach I now have.

Morning Star "meatless" Products?
feb27bandwoman replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like the breakfast " sausage" patties and the breakfast links. They definitely don't taste like real pork sausage , but they do taste good. I love the corn dogs and the "ribs" are not bad. They also make a breakfast sandwich, but I don't eat that because it is a lot of bread. The " chicken" nuggets are also good. -

"stuck Episode" Best Thing To Do Is....
feb27bandwoman replied to A New New Dawn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I chew a couple of papaya enzyme tablets. I think this is probably the same remedy as the meat tenderizer, since the powdered tenderizer is derived rom papain, papaya. But, my one and only really serious stuck episode happened about 4 weeks post op. I was cutting corned beef for the family and very un thinkingly, put a piece in my mouth and swallowed!!!! Ugh, huge uncomfortable mistake. Took about 4 hours and finally had to bring it up. It taught me a lesson and it was awful. Not recommended...... -
