I am currently on "thin purees",(cottage cheese, soft tofu, eggs, soft moist fish,beans... Added to broth and blended to a thin purée. Also oatmeal, cream of wheat and grits, also thinned to purée. After this,I will advance to " thick purees"...I can sort of figure out what this means, but I'd like to hear from anyone with experience as to what foods they added or how they prepared them. Thank you!

feb27bandwoman replied to marfar7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am/was a fan of the Cadbury candy coated chocolate eggs.may try a few on Easter as a treat. But, I never liked peeps and I would imagine they might be hard to tolerate with the band. Any one with " peep experience"? -
Had severe reflux, MD sent me to ER, they gave me IV Nexium( ooooohhhh it worked almost immediately!), removed 1/4 cc. I felt tremendous relief, able to drink..... Went back to MD after 2 weeks and he put back the 1/4 cc. Just a little blip.

Go to ER of a hospital with bariatric surgeons. Call your surgeon. He/she will probably tell you which ER to go to. Don't play, if you can't drink liquids, it's an emergency. -
Congrats!!!! I used to be able to only buy jewelry and shoes in certain stores....... Now fitting into the jeans and clothes at those same stores..... It is a great feeling!!!!!

Emotional melt down!!!
feb27bandwoman replied to arainey77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one year banded. When I realized, about 6 weeks post - op, that I couldn't consume food like I did pre band, it was a shock. Intellectually, I understood. But the smell and sights of food were overwhelming. I had to step back, review the band eating/ living rules, and move on. I have come to see food as small portions, really quality food and it has been an enjoyable journey. Not to say there are those days when I mourn the loss of being able to stroll into a fast food place and grab a huge burger, fries and soda........ But then I look at my reflection in the window and feel happy and satisfied! Being banded is life changing in many ways. -
anyone ever get so frustrated....

Not cool. Low on protein, high sugar. You should be aiming for high protein mushies.talk with your nutritionist about mushy stage foods. -
Did you pass your pre op psych evaluation? I would go back to the person who did your evaluation and also make an appointment with your surgeon. You have issues that should preclude you from having this surgery.

I took pictures of some of my favorite big girl clothes. With close ups of the size tags. Then I donated them all to Goodwill. It seems there are are plenty of people out there who can use them. Also, got a tax receipt. -

Unjury has very specific temperature directions. But, that being said, I use one of those blender bottles with that wire ball in it! Works like a charm and is kind of fun too! I love Unjury for the taste mostly. Never had a clumping problem. -
I think you need to cancel Colorado and re think the whole idea of lap band surgery. It doesn't sound like you have family support and the idea of trying to find follow up care in NYC after you have had surgery out of state sounds daunting. You can't get a family member to accompany you to Colorado for the surgery.... What kind of a financial deal did they give you for self pay? Have you had the pre op psych work up? Nutritionist? Do you understand the importance of follow up care? The surgery is a huge investment, physically , emotionally and financially. What if there are surgical complications? You may not be allowed to travel back to ny. This sounds truly bizarre.
