Can't hold back the tears. I've hardly eaten anything - mashed potatoes, soup, jello, etc. I feel like i am totally failing. -

2 Week Post Op Visit - Disappointed
downsizing replied to downsizing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the replies - it is always encouraging to see all the different comments, and the different experiences. While i see a definite change in my body, a change in the way my clothes fit, the scale is being pretty nasty right now. It never has been my friend anyway! Lol Just teying to be patient! Good luck to all the other sleevers out there! -

What To Tell My Children?
downsizing replied to Estrovan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your surgery decision! However ypu explain this tonyoir children, make sure it is nothing but the truth. I have daughters 10 and 18 and a son 19. Open discussion with the older 2, but my discussion with the tounger one was just that "the doctor is going to do a special surgery to help me get healthier." as for the liquid diet before surgery, she undwrstood that that was just necessary before surgery, and the way i eat now is to help me get healthy. -

Do You Ever Forget.....
downsizing replied to favoredone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I havent forgotten about t, but didntake 1 too many bites of something really tasty, and had to endure massive chest pain for about 10 minutes before it finally got where it was supposed to be! I think old eating habits of "just one more bite - it tastes so good!" kicked in, but ibsure learmed a lesson - STOP WHEN FULL! And not even one bite more! -

Wouldn't Atkins Essentially Do The Same Thing As The 2 Wk Pre-Op Diet?
downsizing replied to CHELL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor has me on the liquid diet for 2 wks pre-op to shrink the liver. I had my choice of whatever Protein drinks i wanted to use as ling as the numbers match up with dictor requirements. I picked atkins drinks. If you have solid foods during this time the liver is affected by that. -
Did The Preop Diet Make You Feel Like A Bear?!?

Im right there with ya - always large amounts for me with everything i eat. So many have said the desire to keep eating is gone after surgery. A good friend had bypass and has lost 200 pounds in 1 year - says he has absolutely no interest in junk food anymore, and the eating is very easy to control. Im banking on hos stories and those of others that ive read. Another friend of mine had her surgery 2 weeks ago today, and got tongonto solids today! She said she ate a half of a cheese enchilada and was full! My surgery is in 1 week. Good luck!

Does Everyone Have To Go On A Pre-Op Diet? Is It Always Liquid?
downsizing replied to besquared1426's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BMI wae 65, so my surgeon put me on an all liquid diet - protein shakes - for 2 weeks prior to my upcoming surgery date. My friend has the same surgeon, had her surgery last week, and only had to replace 1 meal per day with the liquid diet. Her BMI was 45, and the only time she had to do all liquid was for the 24 hours prior to her surgery. I've lost 17 pounds after 4 days on the all liquid. Im so hungry!! I hope this feeling passes soon! I love reading all these posts about everyone's journey - didnt realize there were so many of us out there taking this step! -
Pre Op Tomorrow
downsizing replied to emelia.larock's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats my surgery date too!! I started all liquids 4 days ago, and all i can think about is food. I hope thos changes soon! Good luck! -
You should be straight with your surgeon about this and et him advise you. It would be in your best interesa and dor your safety to be forthcoming with the doc so that he can tell you truthfully if you need to push back the surgery...

downsizing replied to Capt Kirk's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Had my consultation today! Can't wait to get started. Insurance coverage verified, but now the doc has to send in the psych eval, labs, and whatever other paperwork to get a confirmation that they will cover my surgery, then we're all set to go!
