  1. Thanks for the response. Being a newbie I have all sorts of wild questions and I just had to ask that one!

    March Roll Call!

Hey guys I had surgery in 3/13 still on clear liquids. When did any of you guys begin eating more thick liquids like yogurt or even retried beans?
  5. I am 5 days post op and I feel exactly the same way. I posted twice on this same subject elsewhere. I would have posted even more but I fear folks will think ima whiner. I'm just not "feeling" this big change yet and of course I'm impatient. I know that I didn't get this way over night but it still sux to not have that instant gratification! I feel for those who had a more rough post op period, but I'm struggling to relate. I had a large hiatal hernia repair as well and I seem to be tolerating everything I put into my mouth so far! I'm getting 50- 60 grams of protein and 70 oz of fluid, so my point is I'm scared too. Good luck to you!
  6. I have two year old twin boys who wear me down when I'm 100% ! My mom and husband have been life savers this first week. I also have been taking a daily nap just to make it through the day! We took an hour long trip to the grocery store and it wore me down. Good luck to you.

    First Really Hard Day!

Same feelings here! Yesterday I was very upset that my family was eating things I could not. Even the sound of my husband chewing was bothering me. I feel better today but I'm sure I'll have other rough days. Hang in there!!
  8. I was sleeved 3/13 and had 1 full Atkins shake over a 24 hour period on Thursday. I also have the concentrated liquid protein shots that I mix with powerade. Yesterday I was able to get in 60gm of protein for the first time. It was tough!!! I'm sure I won't be able to do it today!
  9. I felt the same way when I was supposed to start my 2 week preop diet. I flat out binged on fast-food the first 3 days (not saying this to encourage you to do that). But it was just hard for me too. I finally started my liquid diet for 1.5 wks and lost 10lbs before surgery this past Tuesday. Mentally I was exhausted. Good luck to you, so far it seems worth it when you get to the other side!
  10. I had my sleeve by Dr. Curry and I feel pretty decent so far.

    Day 3 After Surgury

I had my surgery 3/13 and my pain has been manageable. Mild incision pain, occassional stomach or gas pain. I didn't eat much the first two days, just 150 cc total. Starting today it seems I am famished! I'm wondering if I'm the only big butt that the sleeve isn't going to work for. I know that gherlin remains in the system a while post op but I'm going crazy. I'm limiting my portions out of fear I will burst something and not necessarily out of a strong sense of feeling full. I'm doing only liquids at 4 days out but I feel like I could go for a cheeseburger and fries! I'm trying to get my fluids and protein in but mentally I'm wanting a full meal. What's wrong with me!!!!
  12. Surgery 3/13 so I'm 4 days out. I'm hoping some veterans will respond to your post because I have the same question. I didn't eat much the first two days, just 150 cc total. 13. I am 2 days out and have a grumbly sleeve. Every time I sip something the grumbling gets louder, then calms back down after 2 minutes or so. But it's a constant sensation. Anyone have similar rumbling?
  14. Had my surgery on Tuesday. I only had ice chips and liquid Lortab for 2 days. Started eating and drinking clear fluids yesterday. Realized I wasn't satisfied today. I'm thinking this is when the shock has settled in for me. Overall physically I'm feeling ok, but emotionally and psychologically I'm unsettled. It's as if my mind doesn't want to let go of food but my stomach is just not interested. I know it will take many moons for my mind to catch up but what do I do in the meantime. I'm realizing that food has been a sport and a hobby for me!
  15. I hope to be able to go to a public bathroom and use the regular stall and not the handicapped or family restroom. Seriously, my bottom is so large that in a regular restroom there is not enough room for me to get to my butt! (sorry for the tmi)
  16. I'm not sure of the caloric value but I'm into pan drippings! Lol seriously though, my mom made a slow cooker pot roast and I added some water to the juices to make me a broth and it was delicious and still considered a clear liquid. We also had chicken fajitas and I did the same with that. I only suggest this if acid is not a concern for you. If acid reflux is a problem the spices might bother you. And, if possible maybe a no sugar added applesauce with a scoop of protein powder for a snack once or twice a week. I'm still trying to figure out what's good and what's not so good luck on your journey!!

    Long Term Unknown Results

This surgery is new as far as weight loss surgery but gastrectomy (or stomach resection) has been around for ages. People with stomach cancer or tumors often have as much of their stomachs cut out or more than those with the sleeve.
  18. I had my surgery on Tuesday and I was terrified of being put under, but it's like everyone said it was quick. I asked my surgeon prior to surgery if he had any deaths during surgery and he has not had any deaths during or shortly after the post op period. So that was comforting to know. Good luck and God bless.
  19. I love this board!!! I swear I can find a topic on everything I'm going through. I'm 2 days out and my mind is losing the fight with my stomach for the first time ever! I starting taking a Zantac today and that helped. I said to myself this afternoon, "what have I done?" ! It's hard but everyone on this board has been through what I've been through and seeing the weight loss and positive stories is so encouraging! Man, I can't weight until I can eat an egg!
  20. Yeah I can understand the weight gain. I gained about 4-5 lbs from the iv fluids. Hoping to get those off once I start getting my protein and daily fluid up. I wouldn't worry about it this early.
  21. I have surgery in the morning. Wow, I had my mom take some before pics (I will post when I'm comfortable, I promise!) I cried looking at them. Not looking for sympathy and I'm sure everyone here can empathize, but I'm so ashamed of what I've done to my body. I had pics taken with clothes on and clothes off. I did not realize that I had gotten so heavy. I'm glad I took the pics tonight because I was so nervous about tomorrow but seeing these photos I know I'm more afraid to continue on the way I have.
  22. 24 hours out! Feeling better than i did yesterday. I have only tried water and ice chips so far and they make me feel extremely full, so im scared to try more. Gas pain was what everyone said it was horrible. But walking and gas x strips seem to be doing the trick. Just waiting in the doc to come see me and I should go home today. My doc doesn't do any external kind of leak test. Is that normal?
