I'm having problems with grazing too. I'm 5 weeks out. I'm thinking about going to therapy for emotional and boredom eating.

Week 1 Post-Op Weigh In

Good job! Glad you're feeling so well. -
Could be muscle pain. The muscles heal slower than the skin. I get a similar burning and I am 4 weeks out as well.

Out Of Pocket Costs
New1 replied to Iamreallydoingthis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have anthem bcbs and had surgery 3/13. I'm still waiting on a bill. -
I'm scheduled for surgery on 3/13 but I'm having a difficult time with the pre op liquid diet. I'm so hungry. Physically I feel hunger pains and it's getting harder to ignore. How long were some of your pre op diets? My BMI is a 47 and I was told 7-day liquids.

So This Might Be Gross But...
New1 replied to iHeartNettie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know I had done the same thing and looked it up online. It's actually listed as an eating disorder to chew and spit. It can be harmful if it is done routinely. I didn't get a chance to read further about how it's harmful but when I get a chance I will try to post. -
Relationship With Hubby..better Or Worse After Sleeve Results?
New1 replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 100 lbs lighter when I met my husband and he has loved me the same for the past 7 years. He was nervous about the surgery and really had me reconsider surgery for several years. He has been very supportive since the surgery and is trying to eat better himself. He has always been a normal weight. -
I do all the time and this past weekend my father in law kept doing it. He still doesn't quite understand that I'm not eating because i can't! He gave me a giant bowl of mashed potatoes!

Close to 2 weeks. I was just too tired prior to that. -
Mushy Food Shopping List
New1 replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cottage cheese, any cheese really, canned chili if you like it some of them have 0 carbs and up to 25-30g of protein per serving, Subway tuna salad (it's a pureed consistency), really soft baked potatoes (Wendy's), yogurt, pudding, refried beans (I had some from a local Mexican restaurant that were delicious!) I couldnt handle the kind out of a can they were too thick and too nasty when watered down. Happy shopping! -
Looking good!!

It sounds dark and grainy but it could just be the way it shows in my mind. It may be blood. I would just call the doc and run it by them for peace of mind.

You look wonderful! Congrats! -
Man, I gained 10 or 11lbs from the time of my Jan approval to my March surgery. I don't recommend it but it happened.

Part of the reason for the sugar free is to keep your carbs low. If you can find low carb food choices with real sugar let me know!! I am 15 days out and had a "real" glass of apple juice inadvertently and I was totally sick to my stomach from the sugar content, a whopping 30g of carbs!! Good luck.

I an 2 weeks post op and had the terrible head hunger that some others mentioned. I even had a rant post about it. Couldn't believe it would get better but as the days go by it gets better.

Denied Due To Weight Gain-Suggestions?
New1 replied to Sherry0823's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see someone else mentioned that silk and protein is kinda high in sugar and carbs. I give that to my toddlers as a part of their breakfast because of the carb content. I am post op and try to keep my carbs below 50g and the silk and protein take up about 50% of that 50g. If you want a good breakfast option try the Atkins morning shakes they have 2g carbs and 10g protein. And once you get close to reapplying replace 1 or 2 meals completely with quality protein shakes. Good luck to you. Hope to slide over on the losers bench when you get here! -
How Long Were You In The Hospital?
New1 replied to madambones's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Overnight. I had my surgery at 0845 one morning and the next day my surgeon came and checked my incisions and I went home. I'm wondering what makes one surgeon's process so different from the other. I didnt get any jp drains, leak tests, barium swallows, or urinary catheters. I wonder what the determining factors are in such things. I'm not saying one way is better by any means, just different I suppose. -
As a nurse practitioner I find this interesting too. It is going to be difficult to find and keep healthcare staff that fit this proposed criteria. One of the reasons that many nurses are overweight is due to the stress and unhealthy eating schedules that one has to endure as a staff nurse. The fact that many of the patients are 65 years old or older means nothing because half of the patients are at least overweight if not obese. All I can say is good luck to them.
