My surgery is coming up. April 12th. I'm excited but really nervous. @ skifast1998 - Glad to hear you're doing so well!!! -
I'm so excited......April 12th I will be having my VSG surgery. I'm excited and nervous - but I hope this month goes by quick! If all goes well I'll be having the SILS Sleeve (Single Incision Laproscopic Sleeve) which means only one incision through my belly button (no scars!). Pre surgery diet starts on April 5 and isn't too restrictive so it shouldn't be too bad! Wish me luck!!! SW - 240 CW - 229 Goal - 165 to 170

3 weeks till surgery!!! Yes, I've been exercising. I start my pre-op diet on April 5 - just one week before surgery!! Good luck and keep us posted.

I'm not paying for SILS my insurance covers. Not everyone is a candidate for single incision

My preop diet starts on April 5 which is 5 days before surgery

ssansoucie replied to andi0120's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I'm type 2 diabetic and have a BMI of around 37 (5'7 241 lbs). My insurance is covering and I'm hoping to get my sleeve surgery in April. My surgeon says this surgery should help with the Diabetes. Best of luck to you!! Stay in touch -

skifast1998 Thanks! I'm excited about the surgery. My surgeon has done TONS of Gastric Bypasses and I feel very comfortable with her. I know a few friends who have had bypass at NWH, but no one with the VSG. Tonight I have another group meeting to attend and looking forward to it. Glad to hear you had a positive experience at Lahey. (I work in Bedford so I'm close to that hospital). I chose Newton Wellesley because all of my other Dr's are there. I'm 37 (soon to be 38) and have a BMI of 37, but have Type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure and cholesterol. I'm hoping to lose about 65 lbs, so I think the VSG is a good choice for me. Keep me posted on your progress and congrats!!! -

Hi I'm going to be having my VSG surgery at Newton Wellesley. So far I'm thrilled with their WLS program. We are targeting surgery for the first week in April. I'll find out definitely at my next appt. Newton Wellesly does more Gastric Bypasses than VSG - so I'm a little nervous about that, but like I said, so far I'm really impressed. Anybody have any experience with Newton Wellesley?
