Today's Was My 2 Week Post Op Appt With My Dr........

My surgery was on Feb. 13, 2012. Luckily for me, I came home without any drains or need for pain meds. I see my surgeon again on March 28 for my six week check up and he's hoping to see me lose another 20 lbs by then. Glad to say that I had appts with my family doct. and my endocrinologist today and both have decided I can continue being off all my meds for diabetes and high blood pressure!! Yeah for another good day
  2. So today was my two week post op with my doctor. I went in feeling a little nervous that they wouldn't be happy with my progress........ I found out that I've lost a total of 23 lbs since my last visit and that he's happy with the progress so far!! My lab work came back good, again I had concerns about dehydrations since I'm struggling with drinking enough water...... As for meeting with the dietician, she gave me my new diet to follow which consists of a little more variety but still no solids and everything has to be pureed ( hope I spelled that right).......... And finally, tomorrow is my first day back to work........... So we'll see how that goes!! All in all, not a bad day!! :0)

    Baby Steps........

First, I want to say a big THANK YOU to all the positive comments I received from my first post. Secondly, I've realized that I'm not the only one who has faced struggles. I've also learned that I need to take baby steps, this is a slow process, but the end result is what I hunger for. I can't push myself any faster than my body will go. I've got to have faith in my doctor's thought process when it comes to the diet, slow and steady does win the race. I found out the hard way the other day what happens if you rush things, I was so excited to eat scrambled eggs, that I ate too quickly and the end result was me getting sick!! Getting sick is something I hate, so lesson learned. I'm still getting used to drinking water in small sips instead of giant gulps but I've had no trouble with drinking the correct amount of protein drinks. Looking forward to my first follow up appt. with my doctor and as for weight, I'm down to 286.4 today from 298 (typo in the first post) on 2/15/12 which was the first day out of the hospital, I had my surgery on 2/13/12. So for being post surgery by 11 days, I can finally say I'm happy, I'm happy to be baby stepping towards my goal!! Thanks again

Early Post-Op... The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

After reading your post, I'm feeling better about my own woes!! I'm glad I came across this site, it's helping already!! Continued success to you
  6. I had my sleeve surgery on Feb. 13, 2012 and here it is nine days later and I'm struggling with my choice in having surgery. I haven't had any pain or horrible side effects. At the beginning, the diet I've been on was not a problem. But today, I find myself not wanting to eat, not because I'm not hungary, I don't want to eat because I don't have the desire to eat one more serving of strained soup, liquidy mashed potatoes, protein shakes, etc. My first follow-up with my surgen is one week away and I know I'll be receiving my next "approved" list of foods. Because my husband had the same surgery with the same doctor/dietician I know that I will be going to the next phase of "blenderized" foods until the six week check up. Which again is nothing more than soft foods in a blender. As for weight loss, I weighed myself the day after I got out of the hospital and I weighed 295 lbs, today which is one week later, I weighed 289.4 lbs. So yes, I have lost some weight but given the small amounts of food I'm eating, I was expecting to see more of a loss. Are my expectations unreasonable, can I be the only one struggling with the lack of variety in their meals??? I can't say my husband has been much support because all he can say is, honey it will get better. Maybe this is the time I should say that he does not follow his reccommended diet, he eats/drinks what he wants and because of this, has hit a plateau after initially losing 60 lbs. Any advice or acknowledgement that I am not the only who has struggled is appreciated!! Thanks
