    Protein Shakes

Tibbie, you should try PB2. Its a powdered form of peanut butter that has 85% of the fat removed. You mix it with water to make pb or just add it to your shakes. The chocolate version is awesome!
  2. Hoping that it's nothing. Let us know what your doctor says.

    Protein Shakes

I'm pre-op but have been getting samples of a bunch of different protein powders to try. I really like About Time. They taste pretty good, pretty reasonably priced and only have four ingredients. I'm kind of turned off by some of the options available to us because they have so many chemicals. Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you. Like others said, if the "creamy" ones turn you off, try the fruit flavored ones with water.
  4. Welcome! You're probably better off starting a new thread completely rather than posting in this one. You probably won't have a lot of people checking here. Go to either the post-op or pre-op surgery thread and hit the new post button. Good luck and I hope you get the information you're looking for. You certainly have good motivation in your sons!
  5. Happy Surgiversary! You look awesome.

    My Husband's Answer

Love it! I'm sure once I have the surgery, lose a ton of weight and a bunch of hair, everyone will think I'm dying lol.
  7. Have you had your gallbladder removed? This kind of sounds like a gallbladder attack to me. Did it feel like there was a balloon in your stomach and it was about to pop? From what I've seen here, a lot of people wind up getting their gallbladder out after surgery so this might be the case. You may need to get a sonogram to double check it. I know the VSG vets will weigh in put want to put that out there as an option. Glad you're feeling better.
  8. Well said! (I edited out some of your post but kept the gist of it.)

    Lost 21 Pounds!

Congratulations! I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. Keep it up!
  10. I'm sorry you're going through that. Did they tell you how much they expect you to lose? Is it reasonable? If so, I would saay go for it. you're already pretty far down the road. If not, maybe you should look for another surgeon. If you've done everything you insurance requires you shouldn't have to start completely over. Your records will transfer to the new doctor and they can submit. I sure others will chime in with great advice but wanted to give you my two cents worth. Good luck!

    Surgery Date

Congratulations! Can I ask why you have to lose a specific amount of weight? I've seen other's mentioned that. My surgeon doesn't have a weight loss goal for me pre-surgery, just wants me to make changes in my diet to prepare for my post-op world.

    No More Lurking

Welcome, Tibbie! I've only been here a few months but I've learned a ton of stuff here. Good luck with your consult and I hope you were an early date.

    Catch-22, Literally

Thanks, Amie. I actually got some good news. First, I found out I only need six visits instead of seven. Then I switched over to my PCP since my surgeon's NUT is leaving to be a stay at home mom. I called his office and he'll fill out one of the forms to allow my physical in January to count as part of the diet plan. So...instead of looking at a September date, it will probably be July! So I'm not as concerned about "losing too much weight", lol. Keep it up, girl. We'll get there before we know it!

    Found A Dr.

soozmc, I don't know this doctor personally, but you might want to edit your post to include your city and/or state. You might also want to change your thread title to include his name so it will hopefully catch users' eyes and give you better odds of getting responses more helpful than mine! Good luck!

    25 Lowest Carb Fruits

Thanks for sharing this! I'm still pre-op but I've been tracking all my food and eating bananas and packaged peaches (in water) for snacks. I was shocked at how many carbs they contained. I know I shouldn't since they're sweet, but still. I'll definitely be hitting up several of the fruits on the list for my snacks going forward.

How Much Salad Can You Eat?

Slider foods are those that don't fill you up. You wind up eating more because you don't get full but you still absorb the calories.

    Packing

Congratulations! Save me a spot on the losers bench!
  20. I use Torani SF for my lattes and I've heard other people mentioned using that brand as well. They're all over the place, including Target and Walmart.

    Desire To Get Moving

This is way off topic, but I had to say that I love your avatar, Karen Z Ben! I'm totally in love with Om Nom, I think because he reminds me of my cat. Not, she isn't green, but she's an evil little thing that can make the same round-eyed sad face he does. He melts my heart every time I see one of your postings. /Crazy talk

    Protein Shakes Suck!

I guess I'm a bit different. I don't mind the shakes at all. I've been experimenting to see what I liked (even though I know your tastes can change after surgery.) I actually prefer the powders over the RTD, simply because those have a chemical taste to me. The only thing I don't like are the tar balls of protein if you don't shake it up within an inch of its life.

    New To Forum

Welcome, bogeydog. Keep us up to date on your journey.
  25. I went for my third NUT appointment last week and found out she was leaving before I would be able to schedule my fourth visit. Since she didn't know when they would have a replacement, I decided to transfer over to my PCP. I got to thinking and gave his office a call. Turns out they will fill out the diet plan paperwork that's required by my insurance for my January physical, cutting down wait by a month! So all I have to do is see him at the end of May and June and I'll be ready to submit to insurance! I was originally thinking it would be September before I could get surgery. The best part is that my PCP was sleeved last year and said it was the best thing he ever did. So happy to have a doctor who will support my in this journey. Had to share!
