Hi Panda Have you taken your measurements? I have stopped losing as quickly as I was, but I have lost inches. I walk 5 days a week and am starting to get frustrated that I haven't lost anymore weight. But I know I am just impatient! lol

What's Y'all Weight Loss So Far...
Txsmama replied to Anume 937's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 22 days post op and down 28 lbs (12 pre-op). -
I can totally understand, I started at 215, now 3 weeks post op I am 187. Everyone has their own reasons for the surgery. None of my in-laws understood why I had surgery, they all said that I wasn't That big.

Just Wanted To Share Some Grocery Tips!
Txsmama replied to Erin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had acid reflux and was on nexium prior to surgery, my surgeon said I probably won't have acid reflux anymore either. But he put me on Nexium powder for 1 month after surgery to protect my pouch. Good luck without the meds! Hopefully I can stop taking those meds too! -
I feel ya. I am 3 weeks post and have only lost 1 pound this week. I knew the weightloss would slow down down, but geez! I get my protein in and my Water and I walk 1 to 1 1/2 miles 5 days a week. It's frustrating, but I am still working at it. :-)

I don't smoke, but I remember one of the requirements for my surgeon was no smoking for 6 months prior to surgery. I know it can give you ulcers after surgery, I guess they want to make sure you've kicked the habit for good.

Hope things went well for both of you! It only gets better from here!

The preop liquid diet sucks, but I totally think it helps you be able to adjust after the surgery. I didn't really understand until I had the surgery. Good luck and try to keep yourself busy and mind off of food! :-)

Know I Want This Done But So On Edge
Txsmama replied to lifesshortlive247's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I originally set out to have the sleeve. When I had my first appointment with my surgeon, he said I might want to consider gastric bypass because I had severe acid reflux and sometimes the sleeve makes it worse. He also said the gastric bypass usually has better weightloss results, and they are more likely to be long term. So, thats why I chose the gastric bypass, among other things. But, there is a lot more research and longterm studies out for the gastric bypass than the sleeve, although many people seem to do just fine with the sleeve. Ultimately it comes down to you and your specific comorbidities as well. I don't know about the sleeve, but I know many who had diabetes gets better almost instantly with gastric bypass. So, do some research on both surgeries and discuss them with your surgeon. Hope this helps! -
Prayers your way bernice! keep us posted when you feel up to it!

I use Dannon Light & Fit Carb smart. It says it's diabetic friendly. The only flavors I have found are strawberry and vanilla. Glad to hear you are doing so well!

Whats Dumping? New To All This!
Txsmama replied to Skinnyminded's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dumping happens when you eat too much sugar or high fat foods. Your body reacts and "flushes" the food out. You can feel faint, dizzy, vomit and could get diarrhea. Sounds very unpleasant to me. But I chose RNY because of the fear of dumping, it forces me to think about what I am eating. -
